OLTL: Discussion for the week November 22

I see what you mean. I tend to think the followthrough is worse than the big moments, or it was that way up to 2009, but since then it's closer to what you describe. I think if they are able to make stories and stick to them, the situation will improve. As it is now I cannot and will not care about anything related to Rex's paternity. I would rather watch Echo and Roxy get drunk and argue.

Followthrough or fallout? Yes RC tries to rush to his next plot point or big moment without playing all the beats out and impact on the characters. For example, he rushed Todd/Dani's mourning over Téa in his rush to jump into teh custody battle. He rushed out Greg's confession about being Destiny's mom in his rush to get to Destiny divorcing her parents plot. He rushed Starr jumping James' bone day after Cole went to prison in his mad rush to do StarrJam. Instead of letting Starr and James organically develop, they are a sledgehammer coming at me.

I think Shane's snarking over his grandparents changing so much was RC acknowledging the absurdity of all the rewrites.

I'll pass on Roxy sober or drunk as her character grates on me big time. I do like KZ's Echo way more than I thought I would but then anyone who can goad Viki & Dorian into teaming is a winner in my book :-)

Followthrough or fallout -- I mean stuff like the aftermath of Dorian taking over BE. I still don't know what happened there.

That's ok, neither do the writes.

Okay I picked OLTL back up after a long break. I wanna say it's been maybe a year because I didn't even know Natalie and Jessica were pregnant. I couldn't even tell u where I left off. I know there were no Ford's in Llanview so the past four or five episodes have been kinda confusing. I was disappointed in Jessica Leccia and Gina Tognoni's characters. I guess when Heather Tom took over as Kelly she just totally owned that role. Tognoni comes off so forgettable, but I do wish she had more scenes with Kevin because they seem to have a strong chemistry.

One thing I don't understand is why Langston hates Blair. That character seems so lost. She's now competing with Langston for a little boy who can't act? Overall I did enjoy a lot of what I saw. HATE Gigi and Rex. Loved seeing Dorian, Echo (Zimmer is killing it and nothing like Reva!), Viki and this transformation of Clint and Matthew is flawless. I can't wait to see Bo and Nora and what they've been up to! Crazy Marty cracks me up, but that character has been useless for years. I actually enjoy this stuff with Natalie, Jessica and Brody, but I wish Layla was still around for Cristian. Or anybody.

Echo to Gigi: "I bet underneath all that makeup, you're a pretty girl" LOL

This Eddie stuff is too over the top. Can we just kill him off already and move on

I noticed Shane's voice has changed. With the different hair, I almost didnt recognize him

Where the heck was Jessica? It felt odd watching Viki include her in her toast yet she was not even present in the room.

Langsotn doesnt hate her. She is irritated with her bc Blair vehemently opposes her relationship with Ford and she doesnt want to hear it

I wanted Nate to pulverize Matthew. With his attitude, I'm surprise he's even able to go to public school and keep his face in tact.

He's the type of kid that would have already gotten his ass kicked in real life.

What a fun episode!

Clint: "I don't want you to sleep with me....I want you sleep with my brother." Great ending! Badass Clint rocks.

Today's show rocked. I'm not sure who wrote the script today but there were more one liners then I could count.

Dorian: "I'm homeless, help me, help me"

Matthew: "Could that dress get any tighter?"

Nora: "Don't be silly, I'm sure you know everything about tarts"

Echo to Gigi: "I bet underneath all that makeup, you're a pretty girl" LOL

And there was Viki's ".....and those who have nowhere to go." (cut to Echo) LOL

Lots of funny lines today from Elizabeth Page!

I also liked Larry Carpenter's directing today, especially that scene when Bo leaves and there's a shot of Nora in the foreground and Clint in the background as they look at Bo leaving.

Am I the only one who wants Nate to kick Matthew's ASS!

I'm on Matthew's side. His smartass-ness towards Nate his hilarious. Buchanan > Ford/Salinger

Inez, Bobby, James & Nate can all die.

Eddie can stay.

Ford can go as well. He will never be a leading man in my eyes on any level, so the writers need to stop trying to clean him up. But why does he look like he used to be a woman? This guy just looks weird - does he wear lipstick? Not sure what it is, but the performer (refuse to say actor) just does not look right.

She already mentioned him. Bobby = Ford

I think the show has been really good lately!

BW/Jessica was missing because I believe she had her baby around this time and could only do limited filming, or filmed ahead of time.

I think evil Clint is great. I'm looking forward to Eddie/Inez/Clint/Bo/Nora... should be very interesting. Especially next week

with Clint hiring Eddie to kidnap Nora, and manipulating Inez into sleeping with Bo to get rid of Eddie. Although I hate that they only get a story that involves the Fords- at least they are all getting a story! I have a feeling Inez is going to lose her marbles eventually... or really fall in love with Bo.

They should have written it in the script then. Have someone mention that she was having a bad case of morning sickness and didnt feel like being around celebrating bc she wasnt feeling well. It was just odd that she was talked about but not seen

They said she and Bree had bad colds and were laying down sleeping for the day... and for the rest of the story, they explained her absence with Jessica having high blood pressure and having to be on bed rest :P

oh thanks. I guess I must have missed that

Confused enough by the DNA drama? Well be prepared to be even more confused

Math Hurts My Head

Okay, so we knew on Friday that there would be ambiguity about some of the DNA results, particularly depending on how much information we got about Vimmel (?) and what actually went down when someone turned on the lights in the lab, and what actually was asked of him in the first place by Clint.

As of yesterday (which I'm going to have to admit was probably the best episode of this show since Bo and Nora's latest wedding), the characters got the following results: Brody (not Ford) is the father of Jessica's baby, Brody (not John) is the father of Natalie's baby, and Charlie (not Clint) is the father of Echo diSavoy's man-baby. The audience was also privy to the fact that it was Marty who walked in on Vimmel in the lab and that she definitely did something at that computer and has a copy of some sort of results now in her home -- presumably Natalie's results. We know that Vimmel's task was to make sure Rex's results listed Charlie as his father, and Clint's daughter's results listed Brody as the father, and that he accomplished both of these tasks.

Bear with me here.

Based on the language Vimmel used, we do not actually know whether it was Clint or Charlie that was a match as Rex's father -- we only know that he "made sure" the results indicated Charlie. We also know that one of Clint's daughter's baby-daddies is not Brody and is "the other man," but we do not know if Vimmel switched the paternity of Jessica's baby or Natalie's baby -- only that we certainly have one baby on the way who is not a mini-Lovett.

The go-to interpretation here would be that since (as far as I know) Clint was unaware that Natalie was having a paternity test and was, in fact, unaware that there was a paternity question at all, he intended for Vimmel to ensure Brody (and not Ford) was listed as Jessica's baby's father. And apparently did not think to specify which daughter since, as I said, he didn't think he had to. Vimmel, on the other hand, saw Natalie's name first (as Banks comes before Brennan), saw that the baby was John's, and switched the results to Brody.

There's also the possibility that he did pick the correct twin and that Jessica's results listed Ford as the father, and he followed Clint's instructions to change it to Brody. Meaning Ford is the father of Jessica's baby and Brody is the father of Natalie's baby, making this a twin double-bummer for the girls.

Another possibility? Vimmel changed Jessica's results to Brody, and Marty changed Natalie's results to Brody, making Ford Jessica's babydaddy and John Natalie's babydaddy. It's also possible that Marty didn't change a thing but just printed out a copy of what she interprets as Natalie's betrayal of John. It's also possible that Marty did her old buddy Jessica a solid and switched her results from Ford to Brody.

My head hurts, but this is fun!

So basically we have no freaking clue what the truth is. Correct me if I'm wrong (and I probably am because, mercy, this is complicated), but the only scenario that we have 100% eliminated is that Brody is the father of both twins' babies. And on the other side of town (?), we know for certain that Echo (diSavoy!) is Rex's mother and that she is certain Clint is Rex's father, but we do not know the DNA evidence either way. We also know that Viki is less than pleased right now.

Can anyone think of any other scenarios (other than a third party tampering with the results)? The longest-shot, I think, would be that Marty had a big change of heart (not so much about dropping her vendetta against Natalie but about protecting Jessica), saw that Brody was the father of Natalie's baby, and changed the results to John... and then Vimmel changed the results back to Brody. I was a little confused about the order of events, though, and whether or not that was even possible.

What do you guys think?

I love Terri Conn's hair. I think she'd have been a good Kelly recast

She's very perky and dippy, which Kelly generally isn't. But she's also very cold and has little chemistry with most of her leading men, so I guess that's Kelly.
