January 30, 20224 yr Member Galen Gering as Nick...and Amelia Heinle STILL as Victoria. If that isn't some kind of fresh hell.... 6 hours ago, soapfan770 said: Graz always had a funny look on his face lol when watching, similar to the below examples from that same time period: He always looks as if he's just waiting 'til his dealer shows up.
January 30, 20224 yr Member Amelia Heinle has been employed for almost 17 years. She's another one we're stuck with until Y&R ends. To think some soap names thrown around in 2005 for Victoria were Sarah Brown and Christie Clark. Edited January 30, 20224 yr by kalbir
January 30, 20224 yr Member Everytime I watched Gina as Phyllis, I wished she had have been cast as Victoria.
January 30, 20224 yr Member If Galen Gering did indeed become Nick, I’m sure they would have eventually recast Lindsay Hartley as Victoria..😂😂

She has a habit of making characters really come alive, like when she filled in for Kelly Monaco a couple years ago on GH! If only either of the Bell soaps had better writing I could see her playing a decent character. I honestly do think she’d make a better Victoria then Heinle!

Fox as Nick and Justine Bateman as Victoria. 4 minutes ago, YRfan23 said: I honestly do think she’d make a better Victoria then Heinle! Perhaps. On the other hand, Lindsay Hartley has a distinctly ethnic look, for lack of a better word. I think viewers would have a hard time accepting her as EB and MTS's biological daughter.
January 31, 20224 yr Member Just now, kalbir said: @Khan Oh yeah, I forgot about MAB's love of former sitcom actors. And family sitcoms, in particular, it seems. I mean, it wasn't as if she hired Rhea Perlman ("Cheers") to play Esther's long-lost sister or anything, lol.

Leslie and Robert were given the Pole Position in the opening credits, as the show's most important characters. When the Lawrence storyline ended, Leslie was shuffled off the canvas almost immediately. And it happened over the course of one or two episodes. She had a scene with Stuart Brooks where she said, "Dad! Maestro has organized a concert tour for me." Stuart said, "Why Les, that's just wonderful!" And Leslie responded, "Yes, it is, Dad. Oh, and by the way, I'm leaving in five minutes. Love ya. See ya later! Bye." And she was out the door and gone. We can discern from this episode that Y&R had changed a lot during 1982. The show had repositioned itself entirely. The storylines that appealed to the audience by late 1982 and early 1983 were (1) the goings-on in the Abbott house, (2) the goings-on with Nikki and Her Men, and (3) -- although it isn't featured in this particular episode -- the adventures of young detectives Paul and Andy. Plus there was just the right amount of "crossover" in these three distinct storylines, with Paul being the brother of Patty Abbott and also regularly involving himself in Victor's activities, Kay Chancellor running Nikki's life and also interfering in the marriage of John & Jill Abbott, Lauren tempting Paul and taunting Traci, Amy Lewis being Traci's friend and Paul's right-hand woman, etc. ALL of this was set-up extremely well, and it shows why Y&R was winning the 1983 Emmy and moving higher in the ratings. The situation with Leslie, Robert, and Claire was just simply superfluous to the "real storylines" of Y&R. It was disjointed and didn't integrate well within the framework of the show. Claire's coma seemed hokey and old-fashioned, and this grouping of characters seemed to be "leftovers" from a different time and place. It just wasn't working. The Brooks family had outlived their usefulness. The only thing truly WORKING for the Brooks family was what you see here -- Liz Foster Brooks trying to steer Jill in the right direction (and trying to keep Kay Chancellor sober when Jill started dropping bottles of vodka at Kay's house). Even though it clearly wasn't his original plan, Bill Bell did the only thing that could work -- dropped all of the Brooks girls one by one off the canvas and retained Liz, who still served a useful purpose in the storyline. Who played Claire and Robert? Is the actress Brooke Bundy? I can't recall the actor's name but I know he was on days. Y&R was mostly unwatchable in 1982. Awful except for Kay, Nikki and Victor. Took Bell a while to find his footing in the hour long format for that show.

Seems like Suzanne Zenor played Claire, and Peter Brown was Robert. (Bell had worked with them both on "Days", I think.)
January 31, 20224 yr Member I'm now beginning to appreciate how revolutionary, so to speak, Y&R was in the 70s. I didn't consider the real luxury look of the show coming in until about the mid 80s. Studying deeper you realize how good the show looked at least by the mid 70s compared to the other dramas that were on the air, and how much faster paced it was.
January 31, 20224 yr Member I think the only tie that Leslie/Robert had to the 'new' YR was that Robert's daughter Angela was friends with Traci.. and that Leslie helped Victor with Nikki's 'My Fair Lady' story. I do wonder if maybe Bell could have had Robert as socializing with John Abbott due to their daughter's being friendly.. while playing up on Jill/Leslie's past history. I think had Jamie Lynne Bauer not opted to quit, Bell would have kept Lorie and carried her over to the new Y& R. From watching a few episodes in the spring 1982, it seemed like Lorie/Robert were tested as a couple and maybe when she opted to leave, Bell opted to plop Leslie into that story.. when it didn't seem to make sense.
