Andrew Madrigal?

Though it seems like there was no follow up to Danny getting shot because in these episode it's the next day and he's not injured? He got shot in the gut! Twice! Maybe he was wearing a bulletproof vest or something.

Speaking of Danny, he and Chris are terminally boring. They have 2 topics of conversation, David and how great they think each other is.

Question... In the vault, there is an episode listed as December 1975. It features John McCook as Lance. However, several places that I looked online, I saw that John McCook did not debut until 1976.

So does anyone know if the date on this episode is correct then? Should that maybe be December 1976 instead?

If it's the episode in which Mark Henderson finds out the blood types are screwed-up and Lorie's his sister, that's from December of 1975.  (Lorie and Mark were supposed to get married between Xmas and New Years Eve of 1975.)  Is that the episode you're talking about, where Leslie sings "If My Friends Could See Me Now"?  Lance Prentiss first started appearing sometime in the late fall of 1975.  (The copyright date in the closing credits should verify that --- MCMLXXV = 1975.)

John McCook debuted Oct 30, 1975 as one of Leslie's fans.

The Dec episode is from 1975. I am pretty sure Dec 2 or 3. Janice Lynde shared the episode on the FB group at one point

Also Mark Henderson is in that episode, He and Lorie were to be married in Dec 1975. In Dec 1976 Lorie married Lance.

Great question. I think the soap mags at the time only said that the show is taking the character "in a different direction".

The last episode for Marguerite Ray (Mamie #1) was the debut episode for Drucilla and Victoria Rowell, and then the show switched to Veronica Redd.

Who was the better Mamie? All things considered, my vote is for Marguerite Ray. I think she was better as the Abbott housekeeper and surrogate mother to Jack, Ashley and Traci.  Veronica Redd's Mamie never was quite a fit for me, in that regard. But on the flip side, I think Veronica was better at portraying Mamie as a strict demanding mother-figure to Dru.

Thank you! Very interesting that her last episode was Dru's first. I don't see the different direction (this is long before Mamie and John become a thing, Mamie's still doing her Mamie thing, serving as a talk-to for her nieces and surrogate family) they're talking about it so there must be more to it.

I don't know, I've been watching the first few months of Veronica Reed's tenure and John is busy in some weird quasi-triangle with Jill and Leanna. John and Mamie have hardly interacted. But who knows? Bell did plan pretty far ahead.

    • First, let me say I love reading all of your takes and thoughts. They always provide a different point of view... a breath of fresh air... in this sometimes stuffy topic.

You've inspired me to add my 2 cents about this product placement debacle.  I absolutely HATE the way they are doing product placement in BTG. I really hope this doesn't catch on or evolve into more and more of these moments. It's incredibly off-putting to place them in a highly dramatic moment where we are still on the emotional journey with the character. What is next - Dani spraying the house while having a nervous breakdown? It makes me not want to buy the product they're selling. LOL. That's just me.
    • I always get the vibe that Martin/Smitty have an emotional abusive relationship set up... but I doubt the show will really go there with that element given that Martin is a Dupree (and we can't have the Duprees be portrayed in a negative light), and because it's a gay male relationship.   Even though abuse in the physical or emotional sense is a huge thing in a lot of gay and lesbian relationships. The Ashley/Naomi scene reads off to me for one reason....  Ashley was talking about the new scandal without any sort of mention and/or subtext.. considering she knew both Silk Press Sheila and Eva.  I'm not sure if the writers have forgotten, if Jen Jacobs isn't able to play subtext, or what.   It's just apparent the writers do not know how to write a young white millennial couple.. and perhaps they need to get a younger white script writer to be on staff... or let the actors play around with the lines to make them more natural/realistic.
    • This is as good a time as any to point out that the 90 minute show was, what I like to call  "cockamamie idea" of Fred Silverman, head of NBC Daytime Programming. He did so well at ABC & CBS but not so NBC. We learned this from a WOST interview with Pete Lemay, 2006, can be found on YouTube, audio only. Now, to be clear, Rauch was completely behind it. Only Lemay fought against it & eventually quit over it.
    • She was so wonderful. Glad your handle has been a tribute to her.
    • Hopefully Alan has learned to not interrupt or interject with pointless information while someone is in the middle of telling a story. I almost think it would be better if Alan was a producer behind the scenes.. and he just had the actors on screen talking and asking one another questions.  Those interviews tend to work better.
    • It was only recently announced that Denise Alexander passed away on March 5, 2025. She was my all time favorite actress and role model. She will be dearly missed.  Denise Alexander, ‘General Hospital' and ‘Days of Our Lives' Actress, Dies at 85
    • Hopefully Alan will actually read the book beforehand.

    • Am I the only one who immediately thinks of this every time someone mentions Smitty?
