Thanks you for posting these pictures Carl! Gosh i cant get over these women's hairstyles LOL!

I guess this party was shot before Brenda Dickson left, as seeing she wasn't on the show anymore in July 1987.

Wow, cant believe how similar Beth Maitlands, and Tracey Bregmans hair was.

I dont believe i've seen Eric Braeden grin that hard before, kinda creepy in a good way i guess LOL!

I can't get over Eileen's outfit in that photo with Corbin and Jeanne...she looks like the Pirate of Avonlea or something.

I think these were usually published a month or more after the events happened. I get confused when I read some of the Digests from summer 87 as they still reference Brenda being there.

Sorry to get in here so late... been busy with my new job. No, she didn't have her face done in the 80's... late 90's was her first foray into the plastic surgery realm. There's just a difference in the hair and makeup, and they way she DID her makeup. The 70's look was just more natural, glam was so TOTALLY out, NOBODY wore heavy, glam makeup. I like either look, to tell you the truth. Brenda has always complained ALOT about how she looked on the show... "They kept wiping my makeup off", "I hated the lighting", They put me in 1$ blouses form K-mart", it was all I could do to keep from saying "Honey, your character was POOR, you weren't gonna get the outfits from Giorgios that the Brooks girls got". But when she was away from the show, she DID look nicer in the 70's:

And BTW, Carl... she left second week of July. I just remember it so well because it was the week after I bought my first VCR, I bought it fourth of july weekend 1987.

You're right, that's a very pretty picture. I keep forgetting that the Brooks were supposed to be more wealthy, mostly because the show did not overdo it the way they tend to with rich families on soaps in more recent years, lots of time writing the daughters like Paris Hiltons.

I can see why she said that her posters were still selling well even after she left in 1980.

    • The first one is Cass Winthrop dressed as Krystle Lake on Another World (not from his original creation of the character to hide from the loan shark Tony the Tuna, but at a romance convention trying to find out what had happened to Felicia who was missing). The second one is also Another World, Jake McKinnon as Doris although I don't recall what his purpose was.
    • I know there was one brief scene in the summer of 1989 where Lillian did mention Calla.. but in relation to her past relationship to Ross and it was to Roger while he was a patient at Cedars.  I think he was trying to pump her for information on Ross.. and for some reason, Calla's name came up.   I could see perhaps Beth mentioning that her mother Lillian was visiting Calla.. but not exactly giving any sort of details as to the going ons in Calla's life off screen.

    • They're neither great nor terrible AFAIK, but it is more a question of the streaming numbers in this day and age vs. actual TV airings. The Chibnall era reminded me much more of the crisis years, but I do think it's a very real possibility now as well due to the streaming bubble collapse affecting the show and its prospects.
    • ANYTHING to get her off the screen..she COULD have been interesting if she and Van had a few face offs..(there was a mild one of her going back to work...but I wanted something meatier "Bitch, I am Vanessa Chamberlain and I don't take advice from someone who followed the..career path you did!" I did like Alex's outright disdain for her.
    • Thanks @Vee for the commentary.    I haven’t even watched this season yet after  I couldn’t get past the couple episodes last season…like it was too Disneyified for my taste, although I did think it was a least better than the Chibnall era (but so is a lot of things). I’ll probably go back and binge it now. Hoping this season ends on a high note. I did read the ratings are terrible. As it stands I’m beginning to feel like what long time DW fans felt with S26 in 1989.
    • Yes, they are all on contract. Next.
    • I also never understood Alex's friendship with Sonni or keeping the secret of Marah's paternity.  Not exactly heartbroken about Ms. Sally being ushered to the Hereafter.

I'm sorry but I'm a glutton for punishment. Would love to see this woman OWNING the canvas. Telling off Leslie who tells her she's the head b!tch.
