I wish they'd given Brenda such splashy styling on the show.

All that "controversial ordeal" about Brenda Dickson getting fired in 1987 --- I always figured it was a combination of EVERYBODY telling the truth about what happened (even Brenda Dickson herself).

@Franko , thank you for the tag! I love vintage 1970s soaps, and Y&R was mesmerizing at the time.

Leslie and Lorie constantly pining over Lance was just over the top blah. Even Vanessa would throw Lucas under the bus over him. John McCook is so wooden, generic, and boring. Leslie telling Lucas removing his beard might be the answer to get Lorie to pay more attention to him was a bad message. She should like him for himself. Now days women find beards sexy.

Lance was no prize. I've never gotten John McCook's appeal and he has never worked for as a romantic leading man, and that's on both Y&R and B&B.

Bill Bell for some reason thought he was some big heartthrob and an answer to viewers fantasies. He wouldn't sign Tom Selleck to pair with Bauer, but went with McCook instead. He then signed him again to lead to B&B. I don't get it. Hasselhoff wasn't all that great as Snapper either.

I have always liked John McCook as Eric. I can’t see anyone else in the role now. He has a certain charm and his acting is serviceable. He was kind of a wuss but that’s what happens when you’re married to Stephanie for decades. 🤷🏻‍♂️

It will forever not be funny that John McCook was son to Vanessa Prentiss and husband to Stephanie Forrester.

I'm pretty sure that when John McCook saw some Bill Bell B&B storylines he was like "wait a minute, I know this story".

Apparently Linda was a character introduced to provide Greg Foster with a story, but she and her husband Larry didn't last very long. I think it was a weird attempt from Bell to tell a story about a couple marrying too young and feeling trapped by that choice years later. Apparently Linda and her husband Larry didn't last too long on the show. Not sure about Beth, perhaps just a shoulder for Linda to cry on maybe?

Between the Four L's (Lance, Leslie, Lorie and Lucas) and Larry and Linda Larkin, Bill Bell was giving the "L" key on his typewriter a real workout.

Susan Adams who played Beth appeared on several soaps. The year before (1977) she played Bud's wife Jeanne in two TV movies of the week " Father Knows Best Reunion" and Father Knows Best Home For Christmas". The movies got high ratings. I think the plan was to do a couple of FKB films a year or a new series, but it never materialized. Kyle Richards as a child played one of Betty's daughters. Even then she had a husky Demi Moore voice.

(disclaimer that this is me recapping from memory from years ago, and I might have some things wrong).
Daniel was drunk and Cassie took the keys to drive him home and crashed (she was too young to have a drivers license but had a crush on Daniel). Daniel was blamed for Cassie's death and then he and Lily went on the run. The main thing was Nick and Phyllis and Neil were all upset about teens Daniel and Lily running off to California together. Nick wanted revenge on Daniel, while Phyllis wanted to bring Daniel back home, and Neil wanted to bring Lily back home. Nick, Phyllis, and Neil were traveling around together, trying to find the teens; while Sharon and Malcom stayed in Genoa City. Nick and Phyllis were quarreling the whole time that they were travelling (well quarreling at first). They begrudgingly started to like each other but wouldn't admit it, with suppressed/implied sparks. When Nick got home from that journey, he and Sharon were both trying to mourn the loss of Cassie together; but, as happens sometimes when a child dies, the parents become distant from one another. Nick felt more comfortable with Phyllis.

Things started to build when Michael and Lauren were planning to get married. I remember that Phyllis was more best friends with Michael than with Lauren then. There was a bachelor's party for Michael, and all the attendees were men except for Phyllis, and Nick and Phyllis and the others were all smoking cigars at the bachelors party. Finally on the day of Michael and Lauren's wedding in December 2025, Nick drove Phyllis home afterwards, and was about to leave, but then they had wild sex on her couch.

There wasn't much Phyllis/Sharon interaction at all, other than discussion of Daniel/Cassie. It was mainly Phick interacting. Phick hid their affair, and it went on for a while until Sharon found out.

Thank You for the information.

Do you know the air date when Sharon asked Doris about her father but she refused to answer?

Roberta Leighton and Eric Braeden both guest starred in the season premiere of Switch Fri Sept 23 1977. Wonder if they shared any scenes?

I bet "Giorgio of Beverly Hills" was embarrassed to be credited for Linda Larkin's get-up in the 1978 episode 😁
