Daily TV Serials printed some letters it received re the Val/David story.  Even the few that were fit to print took me aback.  Some were positive too though.

I would love to know who was involved in the steamy sex scene on The Doctors.

Maybe Toni (Anna Stuart) and Alan (Gil Gerard), though they would seem fairly tame to modern viewers.

Just read that Karin Wolfe (Mary Anderson) gained a release from Days when she landed the title role in 'Gigi" on Broadway in 1973. The show ran for 103 performances Nov 73 - Feb 74 She returned as Mary in April 74 and stayed another year.

Meanwhile in 1966 real life...

”Marie Cheatham (Marie Horton of NBC Television Network's "Days of Our Lives") and Bill Arvin (Tim Blake of NBC-TV's "Morning Star") took time out from their television roles to start their real-life career as a married couple. Marie and Bill were wed on Feb. 13 in Houston, Texas.

So I’m curious about something on the Horton family tree:

In 1991, Julie mentioned that Steve was still living in Europe and had a son named Spencer from an affair. Not much else is known about Steve's current whereabouts.”

Did the show ever have plans to introduce Spencer? Even more of a long lost Horton relative than Scotty Banning lol.

I would say that the show did plan to bring on Spencer (why else would Julie mention him?) but there was a change of heart (or writers)

Interesting point. I’ve wondered if SSH regretted her 1990-93 tenure at Days from his disparaging remarks about working with Charlotte Ross to Julie playing matchmaking for the Scofield’s, a family who tanked Days ratings while over on Y&R Joanna Manning’s daughter was getting her biggest story ever during these years.

Julie without Doug was a crummy idea to begin with.

At least she should have returned with David (maybe slightly de- aged) with Scotty off at boarding school rather than SORASING another generation. That would have left Scott to return in the later part of the 90's when Julie was more believable as a grandmother.

The disrespect shown to the Hortons is a crying shame.

Once Mac Carey passed, it was obvious that Frances would one day go also and Doug and Julie should have been elevated to the patriach/martriach roles.

It was ... and yet I kind of liked her Alex Carrington-esque businesswoman incarnation, with the big hair and the big shoulder pads, the flirtation with Victor and the affair with a younger man. It was a stretch from the Julie we knew and loved but SSH played the heck out of it.
