In honor of the casting of Lois Lane, Nikki Finke of deadline.com came forward with a letter from the original Lois Lane, Mrs Jerry Seigel. She was the widow of the creator of Superman and she recently died herself. She spent years in battle with Time/Warner trying to get the rights to Superman back where they belong.

My daughter Laura and I, as well as the Shuster estate, have done nothing more than exercise our rights under the Copyright Act. Yet, your company has chosen to sue us and our long-time attorney for protecting our rights.

On December 1st I turned 93. I am old enough to be your mother. I have grown grandchildren. Unfortunately I am not in the best of health. My cardiologist provided a letter to your attorneys informing them that I suffer from a serious heart condition and that forcing me to go through yet another stressful deposition could put me in danger of a heart attack or stroke. I am also on medications that have side effects which force me to stay close to home and restrooms. Nonetheless your attorneys are forcing me to endure a second deposition even though I have already undergone a deposition for a full day in this matter. As clearly they would be covering the same ground, their intention is to harass me.

My dear daughter Laura too has painful medical conditions including multiple sclerosis, arthritis, glaucoma, spine disorders, and fibromyalgia. She has already had her deposition taken twice by your attorneys while in pain. Her doctors have given written statements saying she should not be subjected to a third deposition, yet your attorneys are insisting on re-taking her deposition in an effort to harass her as well.

So I ask you to please consider – do these mean spirited tactics meet with your approval? Do you really think the families of Superman’s creators should be treated this way?

As you know, DC and Warner Bros. have profited enormously from 72 years of exploiting Jerry and Joe’s wonderful creation. Superman is now a billion dollar franchise and has been DC’s flagship property for all this time.

It's a disgrace this woman went to the grave fighting this horrible conglomerate who has made billions while her husband was near poverty before they were shamed into giving him a small five figure pension. Now under law she was allowed to have the copyright revert back to the estate, but T/W rightly surmised they could outlast her.

I'm so glad that General Zod will be the main villian in this movie, as he is my favorite Superman villian of all-time.

Although I think this rubber suit is very flattering on Henry Cavill, I am not thrilled with the redesign.

This redesign is very ugly. I thought I read or heard somewhere that they were instead going back to the same suit worn in the Christopher Reeve movies (which I wish would happen), but obviously that information was wrong.

Fugly suit, it looks like something Aquaman would wear.

That was only in one timeline (I only know this because of my brother)--the DC reboot is for all titles, which seems a mistake, but superhero comics suffer the same problms as soaps. (Though I like that the new movies feature Gwen anyway who was really Spidey's truet love and a far more interesting romance)

As usual with oddly homoerotic/homophobic Snyder, he's wearing a muscle suit. The outfit wouldn't bother me if they at least had the current Superman red belt to breakup the outfit.

The redesign is to match what he is currently wearing in the books, apparently, which removed the underwear for a more modern look. Personally I like it. Outside underwear is just ridiculous. It works well in print and cartoons but on a live person, it comes across silly
