Yes, John, that was my point.

The thing is Im sure JM woul d have done the full episode but im sure Goutman's ego got in the way

I would have loved to see her the episode prior where they found out Kim & Bob werent legally married. I would have loved some Frannie/Chris scenes. They were close when he was a kid

Regardless I loved her apperance

@P.J.  Would you like to take this question/observation?

Well....in MY defense, I never blamed the entirety of ATWT's problems on Conn or Katie. Sheffer was a one trick pony, Howarth and Block were horrible recasts that shifted the already long established personalities of their characters, Goutman seemed determined to employ every fired ABC actor he could get his hands on, and on and on. I'm sure at one time, I bitched about them all. If I bitched longer (and probably louder) about Conn/Katie than Block, Howarth, SJB or Pinson, its because like a cockroach....she endured.

Thanks PJ. Yes, Hal and Barbara's remarriage in Alva is what I was thinking of. Did Hal's parents ever feature on the show again? Or was it just Tess? I do remember Parker Posey's stint as Tess.

I'd forgotten that Steve's construction company was involved in developing Ruxton Hills. That was during Steve's last year on the show.

Hal's mother had died. All he had left was his father and his sister Claire. I think Claire did again appear briefly, but I don't think his father ever did.

I've posted on this board with you and PJ for at least 10 years lol I already know what both of you have to say. We watched the same show, so it's safe to say we have a difference in opinion on a lot of what went down.

Here's how Teri/Katie ranked in the episode counts the last few years:

2006: #10 (141 of 251 episodes)
2007: #2 (153 of 251 episodes)
2008: #7 (117 of 253 episodes)
2009: #12 (88 of 252 episodes)
2010: #6 (72 of 183 episodes)

I would hardly the say the show totally revolved around her when there were other performers who were in the top 5 for all of those years (including 2 consecutive years at #1...).

How do we find the complete lists for the episode counts? Are they posted anywhere? I'm curious to see how many episodes the veteran cast (Bob, Kim, Lisa, Nancy, Lucinda) received in the last decade.

There's a section here for Episode Counts if you scroll all the way down on the main forum page. Here are the counts for the last month and year the show was on the air, plus a complete count for 1997-2010.

The show literally revolved around Katie, even Nancy's death was about her, even Chris being sick was about her and so on

I'm sorry, but this is just nonsense. Jack and Carly appeared in more than half of all episodes over thirteen years. They're the only two. If you picked a random episode from that time period, the odds are high that you will see one or both of them. If the show revolved around any character(s), it's them, but I think people fail to realize that ATWT was a more balanced show than most of its contemporaries in it last few years on the air. To say that certain characters had a larger presence than they should have is an understatement, but to say that certain characters were at the center of the show when the statistics prove otherwise is just negligent. The numbers do not lie, and anyone watching every day back then knows that you saw Jack and Carly way more frequently than you saw Katie.

I will never understand the over-inflated hatred towards Teri Conn and the character of Katie. There's disliking and hating a character, which is normal, then there's the attribution of everything wrong with the show for last 10 years to one character when there were tons of characters who, IMO, were more destructive than she was. Roger Howarth's mopey, depressing ass Paul moping around Oakdale for years did nothing to help.

Character aside, TC always spoke respectfully and reverently of the show and its veteran cast members. I'm finding it hard to see why she merits so much vitriol.

While Katie had clunkers in some of her storylines, she also had some good ones. Considering how little Goutman used Nancy, I was glad whenever she had scenes.I liked Nancy and Katie's friendship. I wish someone on the canvas was used with Lisa so EF could have been on more. JMO.

Thanks for the link. I spotted some errors. Trent Dawson's character is listed as Holden instead of Henry. Also Ellen Dolan's total count from 97-10 is in the wrong spot; a few beneath her have more episodes. Is there a way for the original poster of the thread to fix it?

I was shocked at Eileen Fulton barely appearing in the final year. She was averaging about one episode a month. She must have really fallen out of favor with Goutman and the writers. Her total count from 97-10 is in the 500 range but I think a lot of that came from her last big storyline (where Lisa married Eduardo Grimaldi) in the late 90s. She was very vocal about Hogan Sheffer not writing for her and I don't think Passanante wrote for her either. So the last decade Lisa was pretty much sidelined.

His done a lot of tv guest roles but I think he is doing a lot of theatre work too. I see he was on Bull last year. I'll have to look that episode up.

He's done a lot more TV than theater.   His last theater credit is in 2007.

I found Katie irritating to begin with, but I really grew to resent her more and more as so much attention was paid to her while many of the beloved vets languished in the background or disappeared. I would say the misuse and poor execution of the character were thanks to the incompetent PTB; Katie, herself was not the entire problem. And I have nothing at all against TC.

As you say, there were MANY crimes against nature we had to endure over the last ten years. Hammy Howarth shoved down our throats was gag-inducing. The endless and unnecessary recasting of Craig was baffling and destructive. Unwanted newbies like Janet were a waste of space and air-time. The influx of actors from ABC was obvious and a stupid route to take. The list of death blows to ATWT is endless, and extends past Katie alone.

According to this compiled list, in the last 12 years of the show, Eileen Fulton ranked 26th in  the number of appearances, Kathryn Hays was 18th, Don Hastings was 19th, and poor Helen Wagner was way down at 59th.

Among the top 30, there were 10 characters whom I did not want on the show at all, and and almost as many actors whom I felt were badly recast and difficult to watch.

NOTE: I am not taking credit for compiling this list. I found it in the SON archive.

It's not nonsense, even if she didn't lead episode counts, the show can still revolve around her.  It was obvious Goutman had a hard on for Katie/TC(Peck). Disagree if you want, but I've seen this same sentiment from a lot of people

According to this compiled list, in the last 12 years of the show, Eileen Fulton ranked 26th in  the number of appearances, Kathryn Hays was 18th, Don Hastings was 19th, and poor Helen Wagner was way down at 59th.

Ellen Dolan is in the wrong spot. She should be right above Colleen Zenk. And if you add Martha Byrne's total for Lily and her total for Rose, she would come in third.

It's not nonsense, even if she didn't lead episode counts, the show can still revolve around her.  It was obvious Goutman had a hard on for Katie/TC(Peck). Disagree if you want, but I've seen this same sentiment from a lot of people

I've seen this same sentiment from a lot of people, too, and I still say it's nonsense because I am looking at quantitative facts that state that Maura West and Michael Park dominated airtime for 13 years. They were literally in the majority of thirteen years' worth of episodes. Over 3,400 episodes, and they were in most of them. But the show revolved around Katie. Got it.

There's nothing wrong with just saying "I hated Katie, and she was on too much."

I think if someone went back and looked through all those episodes they could figure out the amount of screen time per episode. We know that when Eileen Fulton appears in an episode by Hogan Sheffer, she's lucky if she gets two scenes. But episodes with Carly and Jack see them in anywhere from 5 to 10 scenes. So not only does CarJack appear the most, they usually have the most screen time in the episodes on which they appear. By comparison, a lot of time Katie was used as comic relief in quick scenes that were basically filler between the other main plots. So she was not really dominating the episodes in which she appeared.
