2010 Daytime Emmy Awards: Discussion Thread

Okay, wait a minute, lol.

As an actor, Lawson isn't half-bad. And yeah, part of me (I won't say which part, lol) wishes he were nominated, just for the off-chance that he accepts the award while shirtless, lol. But, come on, "raped of a nomination"? He's not that impressive.

Yes, but look at the travesty's that have taken his place ... Billy Miller, Bradford Anderson, Jonathan Jackson (Only because of his eligible material, or non-material in this case), Ricky Paull Goldin

Can you honestly say these joke nominations deserved it more over Mark Lawson? No? I thought so.

According to Tom Casiello on Twitter, he's not on the Emmy ballot for Y&R's Writing nomination.

An Emmy nomination really means that much to these people? Especially in this dying genre?

There's a rule in the writing category that says a writer has to write a certain percent of episodes to be on the ballot, I guess he didn't have enough, though you can tell he really wanted it.

There's an omissions and error period where names can be added if there's good reason. But maybe it was done on purpose because. I think it was an oversight. But didn't Y&R have a constantly revolving door last year? It was probably hard to keep track.

There are some missing names on the writing nods. Y&R: Tom Casiello, Lisa Connor and Teresa Zimmerman; B&B: Donna Swajeski. Same thing happened last year with Fran Myers at OLTL. And it's the reverse of 2 years ago when Anna Cascio was on the OLTL ballot when she was only with the show for less than 3 weeks in the eligibility period.

It was probably hard to keep track.

No it's not. LOL ;) Like I said last year, the people who send names on the ballot should come to me first.

SHANNON KANE - she should be WINNING this year. She can easily act circles around all the pre-nominees in her category. What an utter embarrassment. Every actress in that category should be ashamed of themselves, their profession and the industry for thinking they deserve a nomination.

I love SK but what did she do that should get her a nom? I'm asking that seriously because I wasn't watching AMC for a lot of the relevant time period.

No. I mean, yes. You're right. Jonathan Jackson deserved the nod, but probably not the others. Still, even if ML had been nominated, I'd been pissed if he got it when actors like Trent Dawson (Henry, ATWT), Joseph Mascolo (Stefano, DAYS) and even his former castmate, Brett "9-1-1 Daytime Is a Joke" Claywell (Kyle) didn't. Hell, I am pissed these (and other) actors didn't get nominated!

Now, that's a joke!

Who said Michelle Stafford isnt the Queen on Y&R and that SH was taking over :lol: just kidding. I heard MS's pre nom reel was the BOMB. Says a lot that she got the nom in a story geared and centered around another actress.

Yeah SH is def overrated, she did nothing for me as Patty!

SC is way too predictable, same stuff from 2005, which didnt get her a nom, and Beth Maitland outshined her as a grieving Mother who has lost her daughter.

Kudoes to all the Y&R Noms, and the rest of the Noms ;)

Yet, when he (Claywell) was initially let go from OLTL, none of that sentiment came across in any interviews he gave to the press. Perhaps, Claywell was just being diplomatic, but the impression I got was that, yes, he was sorry Kish's story had come to an unceremonious end, but he was more grateful that he and Scott Evans had the opportunity to tell the story and affect as many people emotionally as they did. Now, though, he's w/o a job, he's moving back to L.A. (per his tweets) and w/o so much as a recognition from the Academy for all his hard work, he's dismissing the industry as a joke. If the lack of an Emmy nod had no bearing on his assessment of the medium, then why wasn't he this derogatory about daytime before?

I think being scapegoated in the national press as both a ratings killer and as lazy and a burden to his coworkers might have been enough to turn him off soaps once and for all.

WOW - B&B scored nods for the BIG three awards and yet no other nomination. But wait Drew Tyler Bell!? I like him but he was barely on...

Reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalllly HAPPY about one nomination: Doug Davidson (Y&R'S Paul) for Lead Actor!!!

I'm assume that BOMB reel was the usual, "MY DOTTER" hysterics she's copyrighted.

When is he gonna get his pinkslip?

That's an award I can't wait for him to get.

Brett needs to remember that calling something "groundbreaking" doesn't actually make it good or worthy of any sort of nomination. Just cause you scored a pre-nom by process of elimination doesn't mean you have a chance. Just made me giggle--and really, out of all the actors who didn't get a nom HE"S upset and verbal about it...WTF?

I know I'll get strung up, but I'm glad Betty White didn't get a nom. Sorry, for her stuff a while back yes she should have, but not those episodes.

Despite being as front runner, Julie Berman's inability to pick good tapes pretty much means it will be Shelley or Molly.

Julie's frozen face, coldness, and lack of chemistry with co-stars probably hurts her more than a tape would.
