Andy said on his radio show that Adriana is a friend because they didn't want to have too many housewives. That is stupid IMO because 7 would've been fine. He said she's in every episode and will seem full time and from the trailer she's giving more than some of the mojito holders. Just an odd, odd move. I also find all the Marysol to be odd since she's also a friend. Marysol also seems more interesting than she was before.

I was convinced it was going to be terrible based on the lack of promo, but the RHOC premiere was the best opening episode for any of the shows that premiered this year. I feel like most have a big hook to draw you in, but it takes weeks to get there as we saw with RHOBH and RHOSLC. With OC, it kicked off right away. They did everything right. They reintroduced Heather, gave us house porn and a proper update on her family and life. Then they got us all caught up on Emily and Gina and gradually introduced the newbies. This all led to whispers of a secret and they left us with a great cliffhanger! No "wait 10 episodes for the drama to start," they literally just gave it to us. I thought everybody brought it and I think RHOC is going to have a good season.

Just so, so ridiculous! I've always wondered if Andy is really not into Latinas, especially ones with slight accents like Adriana. Even though all of us watching can perfectly understand Adriana and enjoy her Brazilian telenovela flair. There is no reason Adriana couldn't be a mojito-holder, and Martina Navratilova's wife (I mean, God bless, because Martina is a straight-up ICON), who barely appears in the trailer, couldn't be a FOH.

Marysol, too, is like a tentpole figure whose PR business united all the women in the OG RHOMi. ITA that Marysol seems a lot more entertaining than she was on the original series. Back then, Mama Elsa dominated and Marysol seemed a lot shyer, more passive and sensitive. Since her mother's death, I imagine Marysol has had to come to terms with that and come into her own fabulousness. I always found it interesting that Marysol, Alexia and Adriana had an understanding (las cubanas + la brasileira) to the detriment of other friendships.

Thanks for the glowing review! I will catch up on it. Does it feel like familiar OC? I feel like OC lost some of its familiar OC magic in the last few seasons, so I'm excited about Heather returning. Obviously if Tamra popped up, it would be phenomenal! I'm just so glad the toxic, exhausting Kelly Doddlezal is no longer on the show. I can't overstate how much she was ruining the show for me.

@CatI feel like Tamra was the missing piece of the puzzle, but this is a good set up for her to return next year. It felt like classic RHOC like seasons 8-10. They gave you everything, but with the elevation that Heather brought when she first joined. Even Emily and Gina felt right. It felt like no time had passed. I didn't miss or even think about Kelly Dodd.

I'm usually pretty lukewarm about OC in general, but last night's premiere was GREAT! I am legit excited to see the next episode. Heather is a welcome breath of fresh air, and the real estate porn is orgasmic, lol. I've grown to like the Gina/Emily friendship; a solid bond between at least 2 women is essential for this show right now, since they're in their rebuilding phase.

As for the newbies, I'm liking what I see so far of Noella. As for Jennifer, I wasn't quite sure she was the new castmember at first. I thought she would be the friend-of by the way she was introduced, so to have that other woman at the center of the Heather drama be the friend-of kind of threw me, especially since she was the one who introduced Noella to Heather.

Anyhoo, I do agree there is still a "Classic RHOC" element missing (Tamra!) but overall this was a welcome surprise! Good thing I already had OC set as a series recording, because I totally forgot it was coming back, too.

Have you seen the clip where someone uses Adriana's song with Doja Cat (I believe) and some dancers. That song gets around.  And I agree that I want them to keep it as the theme song. It's been in my head before the trailer dropped and moreso since.

As for Marysol, I don't think that it is too surprising. Remember when Ana outed her for being a Kyle BTS? With Mama Elsa for her to hide behind, she finally has to come into the light. But also she probably had to come to terms with herself as well and be more assertive in life as well.

Andy can suck it. Season 2 of RHOM is one of the best Housewives EVER and that was 7 Housewives plus. Add on the recurring characters, background, and drama and there is NO REASON why Adriana should not be a HW as well given how messy she can be. I would think the last few seasons with 5 Housewives (when is NY coming back? Oh, yeah...never mind.) should prove him wrong.

As for OC...yeah, I don't think it got a lot of advertising either outside of two promos (one is the Heather returns one). But hey, they couldn't even say SLC was not on Sunday so...

PS. Loving the early word on OC. I was just thinking who would be watching here just yesterday. I soldiered through. Daytime Fan tapped out. I think it was Chris B and me at one point. Good to see the reboot is happening.

I watched all through the bitter end of last season, but they certainly did not give much incentive to watching.

Seeing last night's OC premiere gives me hopes they can turn NYC around with the right casting decisions and renewed focus. They need more than just a Dorinda return; they need an OG heavy hitter like Jill and/or Bethenny.

OC:

Im back after taking a year break. THANK GOD they got rid of racist Kelly bc she ruined the show for me

Heather was a breath of fresh air and it was like having an old friend back. The only thing missing were Vickie and Tamra. Those 3 were the OC's core trio to me. Heather is RICH. She puts these women to shame and I was laughing at Shannon's obvious jealousy. Heather would do well in BH to be honest

Gina, the other one...why are they still here? What should have been 1 season blunders ended up being lames that have lasted 3.

The new girl is a doctor! I think thats a first for the entire franchise. She looks alot like Kathryn from BH

I knew the other new girl was part black. She looked it but I couldnt tell.  I like her energy so far

Returning to Orange County for the first time in some years, and it felt fantastic. Heather Dubrow is back and it just feels... right! I would've loved for Tamra to be included, but I get why she is not. Maybe next season?

While Jennifer may be the first medical doctor she is not the first full-time housewife that is "Dr. [Insert Name Here]."

How quickly we forget! Four degrees! DOCTOR! Address me correctly. SWEETIE!

Watch Wendy Osefo to Ashley Darby: "Don't Come For Me" | The Real Housewives of Potomac Season 5 - Episode 5 Video

Adding to the chorus of goodwill being extended to RHOC. Heather is such a consistent personality, it felt like no time had elapsed between S11 and now. (BTW @Taoboi I watched most of OC last season. I ducked out after Lake Arrowhead because the episodes looked boring, tuned in to a frankly awful season finale, tuned into a better-than-feared reunion to watch the downfall of Braunwyn and Kelly "I'm black so I can't be racist" Doddlezal. So glad these two oxygen-suckers are gone. Kelly in particular was a truly horrible person and I hope the Rage Monster never returns).

It was great to see the Dubrow kids all grown up (little Coco!). Dr. Terry was quieter than usual, though, which is a shame because OC Husbands/Pardners are wonderfully messy (Jim Bellino, Brooks, David Beador) and Terry's mouth got him in trouble more than once! He and Tamra always had a fun, gossipy rapport. (And yes, it goes without saying that Tamra is the major missing piece of this OC puzzle).

I like Emily & Gina's tried-and-true friendship, and Gina has effortlessly slipped into that Voice of the Audience role. I feel like we are viewing the proceedings in a similar way to her, and she is like our entry point into the OC world. Gina's genuine joy at Heather's house was something we could all appreciate with no jealousy or rancor. Unlike Shannon. BTW I'm here for the Shannon getting exposed this season vibe.

In hindsight, the damage done to RHONY may have been worse than OC -- mainly because we know Tamra, Vicki, Heather and possibly Alexis were likely waiting in the wings.

Last season RHONY, I found myself longing not so much for Jill, but for Heather, Carole and Aviva as a triumvirate. I still would like them back. And sure, Bethenny is always the most dynamic presence, can't deny that.

I agree about OC - it was a great premiere, very natural having Heather back.  Her house is so cold to me, but it's obviously very rich and fabulous, which I appreciate seeing.  I was LOL'ing at the comparison between Heather/Nicole/Noelle's champagne Nobu proper lunch vs. Shannon/Emily/Gina's "blue-collar" tequila lunch at the Deck.  I love that Javier's is popping back up now that Heather is back.  I've been to all three of those places and love them.

Can't wait to see how next week's episode turns out - seems like Emily and Nicole have their 'have a seat' moment from the trailer.  Surprised that Nicole isn't a housewife, maybe she was originally and then stopped after what happens at next week's event.

    • I skimmed some of the 1982 synopses; Steve was planning on an opening an office in Finland, and I think Jim went there as part of the preparation.
    • That makes sense. What a messy time for the show. And any changes they made were mostly for the worse.
    • The transition from Neal to Adam was very abrupt, and to be honest my theory is that the character of Neal was designed so that we think he is super shady but then it turns out that he was on the side of good all along so Neal could have seamlessly become a hero of the BCPD with no need for Adam. I don't know whether Robert Lupone was hired on a short contract or if he was fired from a longer-term contract because they decided they wanted someone who was more of a leading man type, but I can imagine a scenario where Charles Grant did both the undercover Egyptian treasure/flirt with Victoria and the straighter-arrow day to day police investigation. But in my imagined scenario the MJ prostitution plotline probably doesn't exist and instead he probably continues a relationship with Victoria. The story seems very odd to me. I assume that David Canary would have been included only because a plotline where Steve is going to Finland in which only Rachel is seen in actual Finland seems unlikely. The synopses explicitly mention that Alice can't go with Steve but would whoever was playing Alice at that time have had the kind of clout to get the remote cancelled? It also strikes me as unlikely that production would have approved the expensive location shoot and *then* cancelled it only because of jealousy. It seems more likely that they rejected it because of the expense but then the jealousy part got added to the gossip speculatively, possibly because while it was being worked out they justified not including more castmembers because of the expense.
    • My comment has nothing to do with cast resentment, but does relate to the Finland location shoot: It may be a coincidence, but Jim Matthews died in Finland in 1982.  Hugh Marlowe's final episode was in April 1982, but the character probably didn't die untll May or June. (I'm unable to find the character's date of death, only the date of Marlowe's final episode). SInce Jim and Rachel had very little interaction after around 1975, it is unlikely Jim's death in Finland had any connection to Rachel's potential visit, but the choice to have Jim die in that location at that time is a head-scratcher.  I'm sure the writers sent Jim on an extended trip (and off-screen) because of Marlowe's illness.  But Finland seems like a strange choice considering the (then) recently cancelled location shoot.
    • I totally understand your sloths concern about it and I agree with you. Let’s hope the show plays it’s cards right.    Further comments about the last few episodes: - I liked that one of the attendees was filming the scene. That’s realistic. I wonder if the writers will follow up with that.  - Martin and Smitty trying to drag Leslie out was very heteronormative, so perfectly in line with them two as characters lol.    As for the future: it’s obvious the Duprees will come to accept Eva one way or another, but the rivalry with Kay should be here for the long term   On the topic of acting: the only bad actors I’m seeing are Ted and Derek. Tomas hasn’t proven to be either good or bad, so far, but he’s certainly mediocre and uncharismatic. He sucks the energy out of the scenes and I don’t see any couple of women ever vying for him.
    • I’m trying to think which actors VW were working with at the time, and none of them had been there for a while. Even like Mac and Ada didn’t have that big of a part in Rachel’s storyline.  And Jamie was involved with all that movie stuff.
    • Brooke did ads before ATWT too. That probably helped get her the job. After ATWT she seemed to branch more into hosting, along with ads.  I think I saw Kelley in an ad or two, but you're right she wasn't on as much.
    •   Thanks for sharing these. I wonder if Charles might have been in the running for Adam. I know Preacher was a bit of a bad boy at times on EON, but Neal seemed to be a step down, and Robert Lupone had played a similar part on AMC. Given the huge cast turnover at this point I wonder who thought they had been there long enough to go.  Laura Malone/Chris Rich would get a remote within the next year.
    • Interesting.  It seems to allude to that statement that Warren Burton made around that time about some AW actors getting special treatment.  I wonder who was resentful about not getting to go.
    • Good morning, boys!  I figured that it was time that our Gio was introduced into the hotness thread
