I haven’t rewatched season 5 in a long time but saw a season 6 marathon one day and honestly as awful as Avila was, she was a perfect villain during that period the show. I absolutely loved Heather and Carole, and didn’t mind Kristin. It definitely was a much less toxic time on the show compared to season 8.

The core of the two seasons (five and six) was fun while I think the core of the following seasons was anger and resentment. There are so many scenes that I want to rewatch from these two seasons. How can someone not like season five just for Ramona and Sonja googling the definition of white trash?

Just got to Jules handing Bethenny her ass at dinner in S8. Jules really did have her shook, which is rare for someone Bethenny isn’t close to (like Jill or Carole). Of course, Jules’s eating disorder is allllll about Bethenny.

I’m enjoying this season. The drama is deep and organic.

I will say, Jules’s tagline might be the most annoying in HW history. (Carole’s “great ass” one could be a close second.)

Bravo needs to fire Teddi. She looks like a clown in her makeup and she is nauseatingly obnoxious. I hope we don’t have to watch the idiot have her baby.

Dorinda is one hypocritical drunkard. She’s also mean, defensive and bitter.

Unfortuantely I think they only keep her bc Kyle vouches for her. She just may be the worse BH housewife. I think only Carlton may challenge her for that

This video was lovely. Watch Teddi get dragged for 4 minutes

POTOMAC

Episode 2 was just as good as Episode 1 and I can already sense the tension starting to climb.

This is also the first time I have ever remotely liked Gizelle. The scene at lunch with Juan was the first time I have seen Gizelle be happy for someone other than herself.

The rumours about Monique and Chris are, as she said, very ugly, and I see why she didn't want to give it any air on the show.

EXCUSE ME??

If you want to look for someone looking for relevancy, BobbleheadTina, you can go look in the mirror.

Everyone knows Denise's name, Charlie's name, and a few famous singers even when they haven't released a record lately.

Who are you in this world? No one even knows your name? Tarao McLina or something. Whatevs. RME.

Potomac is much better than BH.

Are Karen and Ray putting us on? If he was truly off of his lovely grande dame wife, I don’t think he would film with her.

I love Gizelles advice to Juan to double the first ring! His face! I’d like a wedding spinoff but I don’t see Robyn being an over the top bride.

    • So Sonni would have somebody to talk to who she wasn't conspiring with (Will or Alan)? Alex kept telling Sonni how important her friends were...when she had virtually no friends. Instead they created loyal servants like Jane and Vera to give Alex people to play off of. They did that with Iris on AW, but Vivien was mostly there for comic relief Alex keeping Marah's paternity a secret was absurd. But I still love the scene between Alex and Alan where he convinces her by reminding her how they protected each other from their abusive father. Chris and Bev ATE that scene. Unfortunately, that took place only a few months before he exited the show...always thought they could have built on that, explored more how being Brandon's children screwed them both up. Maybe even used it as an explanation for the way their relationship could constantly swing from hatred to love. Instead of it being merely dictated by the plot.
    • The first one is Cass Winthrop dressed as Krystle Lake on Another World (not from his original creation of the character to hide from the loan shark Tony the Tuna, but at a romance convention trying to find out what had happened to Felicia who was missing). The second one is also Another World, Jake McKinnon as Doris although I don't recall what his purpose was.
    • I know there was one brief scene in the summer of 1989 where Lillian did mention Calla.. but in relation to her past relationship to Ross and it was to Roger while he was a patient at Cedars.  I think he was trying to pump her for information on Ross.. and for some reason, Calla's name came up.   I could see perhaps Beth mentioning that her mother Lillian was visiting Calla.. but not exactly giving any sort of details as to the going ons in Calla's life off screen.

    • They're neither great nor terrible AFAIK, but it is more a question of the streaming numbers in this day and age vs. actual TV airings. The Chibnall era reminded me much more of the crisis years, but I do think it's a very real possibility now as well due to the streaming bubble collapse affecting the show and its prospects.
    • ANYTHING to get her off the screen..she COULD have been interesting if she and Van had a few face offs..(there was a mild one of her going back to work...but I wanted something meatier "Bitch, I am Vanessa Chamberlain and I don't take advice from someone who followed the..career path you did!" I did like Alex's outright disdain for her.
    • Thanks @Vee for the commentary.    I haven’t even watched this season yet after  I couldn’t get past the couple episodes last season…like it was too Disneyified for my taste, although I did think it was a least better than the Chibnall era (but so is a lot of things). I’ll probably go back and binge it now. Hoping this season ends on a high note. I did read the ratings are terrible. As it stands I’m beginning to feel like what long time DW fans felt with S26 in 1989.
    • Yes, they are all on contract. Next.
    • I also never understood Alex's friendship with Sonni or keeping the secret of Marah's paternity.  Not exactly heartbroken about Ms. Sally being ushered to the Hereafter.
