I love Lisa. She just didn't have it in her, she's a decent person.

Dionne is such a hateful bitch, so ignorant with "an ego that is so beyond who she is" (copyright Joan Rivers, 2009).

Star...well...I have to say, I do like Star. Shrewd cut throat bitch and all. And that's because she OWNS it, she isn't kidding herself or anyone else. It will be interesting to see her and Nene throw down.

Agree with everything. I was hoping Lisa would last longer, but knew she wouldn't make it past Sunday. Was hoping she'd focus on Dionne while trying to save herself. That old, miserable bitch needs to go home. But I'm not worried. She cannot make it to the finish line, metaphorically or physically speaking!

I'm watching this specifically for NeNe. She's ridiculous and the ultimate [!@#$%^&*]-starter on Real Housewives, but she makes for some damn good entertainment! Bring it on, Miss NeNe!!

I have read alot of opinions, and am seeing a HUGE amount of vitriol that Dionne has managed to have rained down upon herself. She basically is RUINED. She managed to move beyond the psychic friends thing for the most part, but it seems that her reputation and dignity has been destroyed with one stroke. I knew from my friendship with Martha that Dionne was a tough customer, but I didn't realize just how much. I didn't picture her being such an arrogant hard ass... and I was "prepared" so to speak. I knew because of her style of music, the elegant, middle of the road style... people picture her as some aristocratic Grande Dame, and the reality must be one hell of a jolt. I expected her to be blunt and tough.... but to be honest, not quite so BRITTLE and mean spirited. But it was sure fun to watch!!!

BTW, I think Star is up to her old ways of being "sponsored" like for her wedding. In the first ep I noticed that she was wearing this gray broadtail wrap that looked like something her friend furrier Dennis Basso would design. Later in the episode, guess who pops up at the pizza parlor... Dennis Basso ("Let me borrow some clothes, I'll make sure you get on camera").

Jose Conseco makes me nervous. A freak out just waiting to happen.

Every time Jose dramatically blinks he makes me LOL. With his too tight clothes, bulging frame and blue eyes he's two seconds away from turning into The Incredible Hulk. Gary better watch out.

Starr looked like she was two seconds away from hailing a horse. What was with the equestrian get up that made her ass look huge. And she had me laughing because she was cooing how much of a "class act" Niki was only because she bowed out. If she had pulled a Lisa the fur would have been flying.

And how tall is Nene?! She practically towers over everyone. She looked like a jolly giant in the last frame.

At first I thought it was Star hanging out with Greg...lol. Anyways if the feud from Apprentice spilled over to Housewives, that would make a GREAT storyline for next season. I doubt Star would sign on to appear on the show though. They could still have Nene talk abut her and the comments Star has said about her

Nene threw Dionne under the bus! I knew she was a backstabber. Those women are making all women look REALLY bad. The guys did great, and Lil Jon hit that [!@#$%^&*] out of the park When he walked onstage, it's like a bolt of electricity went through the place. Yes, they took a chance... but it's a matter of the company not knowing they wanted something different until they saw it. Donald Trump is just an ass. This whole stupid attitude of his "If you were gonna have a gay guy in the commercial, why not have Richard play him?" Cause Richard ain't good looking! And who is doing Donald's makeup? for some reason, on the TV screen, it looks like Donald is wearing frosted pink eye shadow. His son seems like such a dick.

God, do I agree with this. Stephanie just doesn't cut it as a lead carrying this much story.
DAYS has all the elements to being good, but the truth is, it's not. Cwikly and Ford are better than Ron C, but that doesn't mean much when they're still not what I'd call solid. They aren't giving me anything to be excited about, and it feels like everything is on low simmer.

Awful news. I've certainly said my fair share about Luke and the Eckerts on here over the years, but when he was on and committed, there was never anybody better. He was a huge part of growing up watching GH in the 90s and 2000s.
His relationships with Laura, Bobbie, Robert, and Lucky will get most of the attention, but I want to mention how good he was with a lot of the rest of the cast in that era. His relationships with Tony, Lucy, Felicia, Tiffany, Sonny, Carly, Nikolas, Alexis, Tracy- all so different, unique, and you really felt the connections.
Monica, Luke, Robert, Rick, and Lesley in one year is so much loss. Add in Bobbie, Alan, Nikolas, Sean, and Epiphany in the past couple of years and it's almost unfathomable.

I agree with this. You can see it in her shows, there is always movement. Those talking head scenes were walking around the nurses station, stopping at the counter at Kelly’s, etc. Scenes in the Webber home often begin or end with someone coming down the stairs, or headed to the door. I am sure Geary had run into plenty of issues where staging in a more traditional way hindered what he wanted to do and could seem stifling. Monty allowed improvisation, and spontaneity to be encouraged in rehearsals.
As a kid I always noticed that the ABC soaps of that era just felt more modern. When I watch old episodes now, the ABC shows still stand out that way. They took risks. Now I am not saying I think everything they did was fantastic- they had plenty of flops and bad ideas.

Her statement did not disappoint. They both spoke about that deep connection, that they didn’t share with anybody else. Even when Tony was fully committed to not ever playing Luke & Laura again, he still spoke about that connection as performers with some reverence.
I am not shocked they didn’t speak because that was their way even before his final exit. When they met to discuss returning in 1993 they had only seen each other a couple of times since their earlier run. That return was one of the handful of soap icon returns after being gone for a long time that fully worked. I have said this before but Monty, Marland, and PFS, with Geary and Francis of course, made such grounded characters with real internal lives that they could go and save the world, and also still fit in closer to reality in grittier material later under Labine, Guza, and Riche.
We saw Luke slowly morphed into a bitter and cynical man who eschewed connection with others. I had no problem with what Geary did with Luke’s characterization. Luke after Laura probably would self destruct. What I had issue with was Geary’s insistence that this was always the Luke he played. It very much was not, we saw it as it aired, the good and the bad before his revisionist history.
Almost every soap I watched had an iconoclastic character who challenged the other people in their communities. Soaps are so bland now and don’t really do these types of characters anymore.
Thanks everybody who has been posting tributes, I don’t use Twitter anymore so this is the only place I will see them!

Obviously, we'll never know exactly what Geary meant, but I think what Gloria Monty hated was the fact that most soaps at that time seem confined to "talking heads" regurgitating the same exposition over coffee inside various living rooms and kitchens. Monty wanted soaps to be more active, arguing that housewives and other viewers would be forced to put down their laundry or whatever and actually pay attention.

In the past, I've speculated that Empire Valley was supposed to be a story about phony real estate developers bilking people, before it got changed into what made it on air.
I would LOVE for someone to interview Peter Dunne - not just about Empire Valley, but about his time on KL (and DALLAS) in general. I feel like he would have a ton of great writing advice to share.

in total agreement! over the years, i’ve written thousands of words going into all the gory details — particularly regarding ‘as the world turns.’
always wished i could have asked him about the ‘i hate soap opera’ comments. was he being funny, sarcastic, ironic? would have loved to heard the specifics of what he — and gloria monty — hated. and what did he think about the impact on the soap genre.
