Plastic Surgery of the Soap Stars

Julie Pinson. I thought she was dull in the role, from what I've seen (she is generally a dull actress when not shouting). I will trade Rinna's spark for the bad facework...I just hope her acting peps up a bit.

Krista Allen always got a bad rap, IMO. Underrated work. And probably one of the prettiest actresses in softcore.

I think this board has the largest collection of Krista-as-Billie fans.

I think Rinna looks alot like Koslow now. They have similar cheeks, nose, eyes

I always looked at Krista as porn star Billie. She was just so overly sexual and such a contrast difference from Rinna's more tomboyish portrayal. It was kinda hard to see them as the same character bc I thought Krista was too much of a beauty queen. I thought Pinson was the best balance of the two. She had the softness and and beauty of Krista but the edgyness and roughness of Rinna. I thought she was a good blend of them

The difference is that Koslow comes by her features naturally as pictures from her youth attest.

Has Lauren used fillers and Botox and some laser work? Absolutely. The difference is that it is leaps and bounds superior to Lisa Rinna's. Lauren's work maintains her looks, Lisa's changes her looks.

Yes, she needs to leave her cheeks alone, and I'd argue that she needs to stop tweaking with her nose. Susan has always lined her lips outside of their normal lipline, but thank God she never injected anything into them. Her mouth is already large proportionate to the rest of her face, and filling her lips would only accentuate that.

To be honest, I think Susan would probably look best if she gained about five pounds. She's underweight for her supposed height of 5'2", and she's already absurdly toned from doing Pilates, but gaining just a few pounds would fill her out a little bit in a good way, I think.

If you look at bathing suit photos of her from the 80s before Pilates and breast implants came into her life, she seemed almost a little pear-shaped. She's always been thin, but I'd bet that she gains weight easily in the hips and thighs and is reluctant to put on the pounds because of that. IDK if the right trainer and nutritionist could help her put on the weight in a healthy way so it doesn't end up on her hips and thighs, but I agree that filling out a little on the upper half of her body would make her look better.

Sadly, I doubt she'd agree. She's said before that she liked the look of the ballerinas she saw going to their studio every day, and she wanted her trainer to make her look like them. She's succeeded in that effort, but it's not entirely flattering. After reading her book, I wonder if she's one of those actresses with a functional eating disorder - she's not likely to starve to death, but she's not exactly "normal" either.

Yeah, the Enquirer or Star accused her of being an anorexic back in the '90s. She's always talked about eating fish and vegetables and such. I think it was on Kimmel where she talked about splurging on spaghetti bolognese after DWTS. She can certainly afford her cheat days. There's that footage on YouTube where she's in court with Mona before she had her cosmetic surgery in '94 and that's the fullest I ever remember seeing her face and neck. She debuted her new face and nose when she came home and found Mona had died, and if you look at those closeups of her at the funeral, oh my God, she is so soft and perfect to look at.

Susan IS pear shaped, so yes, I can see why she'd be hesitant to gain weight if it's not going to her chest . Plus, she's probably paranoid about taking off any weight she'd possibly gain that didn't settle where she wanted it to. She likes to be lean and when she's wearing clothes you can see why, they hang off her perfectly.

There were quite a few places in her book that had me raising my eyebrows with regard to her diet and her weight, but I'm probably overly sensitive to that because I've dealt with disordered eating for a long time myself. Things like her talking about her schedule in the 70s or so of taking the train to work and eating nothing more than a small container of yogurt for lunch, which seems massively inadequate given the long hours she was working and the early hour she would have been eating breakfast/leaving the house, or wanting to celebrate her Emmy win by opening a bottle of champagne or having something chocolate but instead going straight to bed because she had a photoshoot with People magazine early the next morning... as if a small piece of chocolate cake and a glass of champagne would make her gain 10 pounds overnight, or that her weight dropped to 84 pounds right before Annie Get Your Gun... combined with her frequent refrain of "I love to eat," eh... IDK that I'd call her a full out anorexic, but she's underweight and seem to have a pretty restrictive diet.

IDK why anyone ever believed the whole nose management story. Please. Anyone with eyes could see that she's had some really great work done. Then again, she's lied in the past about her age and how long she'd been married - likely to make herself look younger - so I'm not surprised that she lied about plastic surgery. And OMG, if pilates could streamline the nose too, I'd be all over it.

Well the fact that there is only a 10 year difference allows Lisa some wiggle room, in terms of looking like Kate's sister rather than her daughter. But one thing is, it's all about how you present yourself. Ten years ago in 2002 Lauren Koslow's look was sexy but matronly. Whereas Lisa Rinna looks like a washed up former sex symbol who hasn't allowed herself to look like an old woman, but instead her quest to stay young-looking has worked against her.

Bryan Dattilo still looks good. I noticed in person that he's allowing a few strands of gray hair to show, rather than color it.

    • I think in the long run, Shelle is endgame. The current writers are just playing it slow and natural at the moment and I love it, it’s classic soap opera storytelling. I hope Cwikly and Ford are given time to write these two apart as well gradually working their way back to each other. The potential is endless with EJ and Jada thrown in the mix.
    • The show hit #3 today. The episode was eh. I loathe Leo. He needs to go!
    • IIRC Storm was a nickname given to Stephen Logan Jr. as he had a stormy temper. Much like William Foster Jr. was given the nickname Snapper for snapping at everyone. I remember an interview with either Bill Bell or Bradley where it was mentioned Bill Bell got the name Ridge from a college classmate of Bradley's. Bradley even said that his classmate tells everyone "I'm the real Ridge". I don't where Bill Bell got Thorne from.
    • I'm left wondering if Lynda Hirsch how much access from her office in the Midwest?  I assume people called her to leak information all the time.  And she had press releases, interviews, and screener tapes.  But her insight into the character of John Conboy made me question if she was an insider or just a yenta?
    • The interview also makes me appreciate more how clever it was for Bill Bell to use names like Storm or Thorne. That was a quick talking point for Hirsch with the show. And while I always made fun of it, looking back that's also something that made people I knew who rarely watched soaps always remember B&B.
    • There was also nepo babies Ethan Wayne and Carrie Mitchum.
    • I had forgotten he was on Kotter until the interview (I did watch that show to the end in reruns but the only replacement I remembered was Della Reese). I should watch that spinoff pilot sometime.  Maybe he decided acting wasn't for him anyway as his last credit is two years later.
    • I don't have to tell you, that he was their “big get” when it came to casting.  He replaced John Travolta on Welcome Back Kotter and starred in the backdoor pilot for a guy spinoff of Charlie's Angels with Barbara Stanwyck.  He was certainly more famous than the lead singer of one-hit-wonder Player. In the beginning, I always confused Dave and Thorn, as well as Ridge and Rocco, due to their similar hairstyles. Side note: You know The Colby's was bad if Barbara Stanwyck thought the writing was worse than the guy Charlie's Angels script -- Toni's Boys .
    • This has a lot of talk about early B&B, including Lynda Hirsch correctly inferring that Gail Kobe and Bill Bell may not work together long. She also roasts Bill Bell the way Chris Schemering did for the various mentions of "My God, man!" I am trying to remember if we actually got any of those (didn't Ridge used to say it?). There's also a lot of mention of Stephen Shortridge, who never seemed to have anywhere near as much value on the show itself. Sometimes I am surprised they never brought Dave Reed back for another doomed Brooke romance.
