Shonda Rhimes Again!

Most of these shows won't even see a full season. We're talking about ABC, the rich man's FOX.

I hope not. Especially Rhimes. I am sick of her overrated *ss. But this medical show is just the kind of thing ABC would pick up because they'd think it was safe. Blech.

Oh, enough! Knots Landing, Knots Landing, Knots Landing, Knots Landing, Knots Landing, blah, blah, blah, blah! :P

I know primetime will never produce a serial as brilliant as Peyton Place, Knots Landing or Dallas. What I mean is that the two shows were completely[/i[ different, but the ties between both shows were strong and made sense. I'm not saying Grey's is anywhere near what Dallas was. Certainly not, lol. But I watch Private Practice and I see basically the same show. Did it have to be set in a hospital? Maybe another profession could be the focus, or even just the private lives of Addison and her LA friends with work not playing a major role. Just seems so uncreative like Dynasty II: The Colbys. Granted those two seasons were better than what Dynasty was putting out, but it was still a carbon copy. Just twenty years back when Alexis (now Sable) and Blake (now Jason) were still married and Alexis was played by a better actress.

Pretty much. Private Practice really is no different/better than a billionth L&O, CSI, or NCIS. KL was different from Dallas, both of the Melrose Places are different from both of the 90210s. Angel was different from Buffy, The Facts of LIfe was different from Diff'rent Strokes, Good Times was different from Maude, and so on and so on. I always figured the difference between GA and PP would be that GA was in a hospital and that PP was in a private practice, but...not so much. That worked on Marcus Welby in the 1970s because his practice was in a more suburban/rural part of town, and they'd often have episodes in the big city hospital.

ABC continued its pilot shopping spree Thursday with two more drama pickups: "Matadors" and "True Blue."

"Matadors," from Sony TV and writer/executive producer Jack Orman ("ER"), centers on two feuding families, one in the Chicago district attorney's office and the other opposing them in the city's most influential private law firm.

"True Blue," from ABC Studios, is a soap described as "The Big Chill" set in a homicide squad. It centers on a group of San Francisco homicide detectives who reunite to solve the murder of one of their own and, in the process, revive old passions, rivalries and friendships.

Based on a story by writer Jon Feldman ("Dirty Sexy Money") and ABC Studios-based producers Chris Brancato and Bert Salke, the pilot was written by Feldman and Brancato.

All three executive produce.

The orders follow the pickup of three pilots by ABC on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Are there any shows that feature poor people? Not dirt poor people but simply people that have to work for a living? All I see are doctors, lawyers and forensic whatevers. Other than Friday Night Lights, I can't think of one show where the characters ever discuss not having enough money.

The doctor/Lawyer thing is so played out. Thank god, Deep End just tanked. Maybe that's a sign that the general audience is ready for something different. All I can say is thank god for cable.

<span style="font-size:120%;">ABC has ordered its first pilot this development season, and fittingly, it is from the network's most prolific writer-producer Shonda Rhimes. The untitled project, <font color="#FF0000">about the life and work of a professional fixer and her dysfunctional staff</font>, is based on the career of famous PR guru and crisis management consultant Judy Smith. It was written by Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice creator Rhimes, her first pilot script since the two-hour May 2007 Grey's Anatomy episode that served as backdoor pilot for spinoff Private Practice. It was a quick turnaround for the new project, which hails from ABC Studios and Rhimes' studio-based Shondaland banner. <font color="#FF0000">ABC brass read Rhimes' script on Thursday and 24 hours later, they greenlit it to pilot.</font> The early order comes weeks before the traditional start of the broadcast networks' pilot pickup season. Rhimes will executive produce with her Shondaland partner Betsy Beers. Judy Smith will serve as a co-executive producer and a technical consultant.

One of the comments below is quite nasty:

<span style="font-size:120%;">Bobby the saint, you must not work in the industry, or work somewhat close to Shonda. She is absolutely out of her mind. Bipolar, delusional, and sort of a wino. As in she drinks a lot of wine and just starts sh*t with whoever, whenever. But either way, she is an egomaniac with little regard for those who support her or want to work with her.</span>

If anyone can figure out a way for me to want Off the Map to fail while also wanting Zach Gilford to succeed in everything his cute little self does, please let me know. Please!!

The sad thing is, I'll also probably watch Shonda's new show. LOL This show is so going to be on at 8pm Thursdays for a 3 hour Shonda block!

LOL, don't be sad. I'll probably watch it too. I don't get the Shonda hate from some. It's kind of weird.

Have him win the Emmy/Golden Globe/SAG then let the show get canned. He gets more work, Shonda Rhimes show is dead. The perfect plan, it's the execution which becomes tricky.
