Pair her with someone who is right? She's been paired/tested with Dillon, Logan, Spinelli, Logan, Johnny, and now Dante. I have never seen an actress on a soap given so many chances at making a pairing work. Maybe the guy is not the issue. Being a good actress on a soap is not good enough. You have to be able to generate actual chemistry with your costars. IS who played Diego was a terrible actor but he had chemistry with every actor he shared scenes with. I don't think Vanessa Marcil was a good actress but I thought she had loads of charisma and clicked with everyone she worked with. She actually did have a good vibe with the actor who plays Ethan but we saw where that went.

She doesn't seem comforable doing romantic scenes nor does she do the longing, yearning, touching, and the looks that need to be exchanged to sell a pairing.

I guess she can be a supporting actress but even supporting actresses on soaps have romances. So not sure how that would work.

I agree that Lulu has had hardly any chemistry with all of the guys she's been paired with. I kind of liked her interaction with Milo early on, back when Milo/Spinelli/Dillion were pining early on. But that was more Milo than her, because I thought that he was cute with the way he was crushing on her. (Even though I don't like her character and didn't like all of those guys chasing after her).

Other than that I really haven't seen her have chemistry with anyone else. Even though the other young women who are on the show/have been on the show have had chemistry with different characters. Maxie has had chemistry with multiple people. Georgie was in a popular pairing with Dillion and I thought that Georgie and Diego had good chemistry together, before he became evil. Lulu however hasn't sparked with any of her love interests.

I liked Matt and Lulu together a lot, and I was hoping something would come of it...But they went with Dante. Probably just for the reason that it would semi-tie her into the mob, and everyone knows GH wants all their characters to be mob related somehow. I think they could but Matt and Lulu together, and have a good romance there. And maybe, at least for those two characters, we could actually have a storyling about the HOSPITAL for once.

Am I the only one here who misses the nurses ball???

That would have worked. They always seem to think Lulu needs to be an "epic" character. I don't know why. JMB is cold, does not connect with scene partners, struggles to connect to the material, and is extremely generic. There's no reason to expect greatness out of her, and even if you could, the writing is not there. The show has spent the past decade telling us the Spencers are worthless and were built on a lie, so why pass Lulu off as some heroine of the future? All it does is put huge expectations on her that she fails to deliver on year after year.

Casting an actor who looks so much older than her doesn't help.

Every fricking romance on GH has to be spent as a romance of the ages or it's no good. I liked Spixie when they were friends and when their quirks were not exemplified but played as quirks. But they went overboard and turned them into some ridiculous caricature rather than some fun lite short termed summer fling or whatever.

It's why I loved Lucky and Sam. They were never the romance of the ages type of pairing. But they were hot, sexy, and fun while they lasted. The show could have done more with them without having to make them all serious and dark. Their Mexico adventure was fun and a lot more lite stuff like that could have been loads of interest and injected some lightheartedness into such a dismal show.

Matt and Lulu could have been the same thing and I think Jason Cook like Greg Vaughan, has a certain charm and charisma about him. Good at light fare and what's wrong with that. Maybe they would have found that the characters actually balanced out well who knows.

I don't get GH's fascination with JMB or why they find her so grand. I think she's attractive and a decent actress but I don't think she's a soap actress. I'm not sure where she'd fit in but she certainly is not the epic heroine type they continue to try to sell her as. She actually might have been better as a schemer type who knows. She certainly doesn't convey the heart and vulerability GF's Laura did and her being like Luke just makes her appear more crass and tough not soft. Lindze Letherman to me could actually be both tough and vulnerable. I thought she was loads better than JMB. A much better contrast to Maxie if you ask me and she had chemistry with many on the cast.

    • Thanks @JAS0N47 for the 1973-1979 pre-emptions. Interesting that there were no Christmas pre-emptions 1973-1975 and 1978. Christmas 1976 was a Saturday and Christmas 1977 was a Sunday.

    • Thanks @DRW50 for the video. I guess that is the closest we will get to pre-1979 Roger/Holly storylines.
    • Yeah that's likely the case and it will all be awful.
    • I appreciate your POV and ideas here. I don't, however, trust Josh Griffith to make this anything like a good story. My guess is that much of it will be off-camera and that we'll have to be happy with Mariah retelling the nightmare in bits and pieces. Meanwhile, Tessa will still be strumming her damn guitar with Daniel. Ugh. I know I'm negative about this show. I am hate watching with every fiber of my being, and there's nothing about it that's working for me. I never recall Y&R being worse.
    • A batch of photos from Episode #67 which aired Thursday June 5 in USA. Some are scene pictures, and some are behind-the-scenes. https://www.paramountpressexpress.com/cbs-entertainment/shows/beyond-the-gates/photos?episode=25710 Posting because there's a pic of director Michael V. Pomarico; and a pic of director Steven Williford whose photo caption says "J. Steven Williford".

    • I think the gross ickiness is Josh Griffith's intention. At birth, Ian Ward stole Mariah from Sharon, so that Sharon knew only of the Cassie twin and not the Mariah twin.  Sharon gave up Cassie for adoption at birth, never knowing that Mariah existed. When Ian Ward stole baby Mariah, he had her be raised by a woman member of his cult. She grew up in his cult. Years later, after Mariah was an adult in Genoa City and had left him, he tried to kidnap her to marry him himself, I sort of remember some icky scenes where he had arranged a wedding, but she escaped or was rescued -- it was so gross that I chose to forget it, and I don't want to look up the details. Mariah is feeling traumatized/triggered by Ian Ward being in Genoa City several months ago, because he was obsessed with her, and he terrorized her loved ones, interacted with Tessa, and drugged Sharon, which ultimately resulted in the death of Heather -- causing the grief of Daniel and Lucy. None of that was Mariah's fault. But she was so horrified by what happened, that she feels she did something wrong that caused this hateful villain to continue to obsess about her.   Based on small comments that Mariah made recently, I think she feels completely worthless. I gather that when she was away on the business trip a month or two ago, all of what happened with Ian Ward and Heather's death just hit her all at once and she was mentally/emotionally collapsing, and just felt unable to call for help.  During the business trip she sat in her hotel room and spiraled more, feeling more and more worthless and afraid. Finally she started drinking at a bar, and that's when the creepy old man approached her.  By that point, she wasn't in her right mind, and started interacting with the guy.  Either she thought he was Ian, or she thought he was someone like Ian, and she would be *required* to flirt with him in a role play, and do what he commanded, almost like old programming being reactivated.  Or perhaps just simple self-loathing playing out. I don't know if the guy actually knew Ian or Jordan, or if he was a random stranger.  But Mariah's fear/loathing/subconscious chaos kicked in. And then... well that's as far as her flashbacks have aired so far. She can't bear to face the rest of whatever it was.  I gather that in the coming episodes, we'll (eventually) find out what happened next as we see more of the icky flashbacks. --------------- The rest of this post is only my speculation: I think that she felt like she was supposed to have sex with him but didn't want to, and may have tried to kill him instead. Or he r*ped her.  Or they didn't have sex at all, but it's all convoluted in her mind.  Something horrible happened but I don't think it was her fault.  If the man died, maybe she covered it up?  I really don't know, I'm just speculating ideas. At any rate, I'm totally convinced that this is NOT a conventional "cheating storyline" where someone willingly has sex outside their relationship. ----------------- This is basically Josh Griffith's obsession with dark storylines, creepy villains, and terrible writing of "mental health issues".
