Members NothinButAttitude
Are you talking about the one that British soap writer, Mal Young was creating--Born in the USA? I remember hearing about that in 07. Allegedly A. Martinez and Hank Cheyenne was apart of the cast if I'm not mistaken. Also, I heard through the grapevine that there was once going to be an American Eastenders.
Members KMan101
I've heard that too about EastEnders though it might have been along with the 'Born in the USA' idea. I kinda wish FOX had gotten into the soap game.
Members NothinButAttitude
I wish FOX would've gotten into the soap game too, as they seem to be least conservative network out of the big four and likely to take risks. Funny because their news channel is the sheer opposite.
Members Soaplovers
FOX did briefly have a soap in the early 90's called Tribes. I think it came on at 3 or 4 Central time. It ran for a few months before it was canceled.
Members KMan101
LOL, that is very true. FOX also seemed willing to try having a soap late at night, etc. so it does seem like they would have been more willing to be different and try new things with the genre. Really too bad it never came to pass. Especially in the mid 90s when 90210 and Melrose were red-hot for them in primetime.
Members NothinButAttitude
Well I hope FOX gets back in the mood of wanting to create soaps. I think it'd be to their benefit.
Members EricMontreal22
Fox still has no real interest in getting the 10pm slot for their network, so I can't see it happening anytime soon. *repeats how much I want to see the 13 Bourbon St pilot they developed*

Members Paul Raven
Variety June 8th 1960 Accused by its rivals of programming too much for kids, ABC is also adding two other programs geared to pull a bigger hausfrau quotient "Hope Springs," the western soap opera at 11: 30 a. m. and "Road to Reality" at 2: 30 p. m. Road to Reality did air from October 1960, but Hope Springs never made it to air.ABC aired reruns of the Gale Storm show instead.
Members Paul Raven
Variety Nov 6th 1968 With "Julia" shaping as a big click in network video's nighttime grind, can a "black" serial be far behind in daytime? Former ABC-TV exec Ed Bleier's new independent has a dominantly Negro soap in development by a team of young dramatists (Lonnle Elder, Phillip Dean, Cliff Mason), but initial feelers at the webs have been coolly met. Members DRW50
Thanks. Not too much of a surprise about the networks and the black soap, sadly. I wonder why no one ever tried a Western soap.
Members Khan
I once had an idea for a soap opera set in the logging industry. Sort of a "Falcon Crest" in the Northwest.
