Yesterday I post in the misogyny thread, drawing a parallel between torture porn and soaps' treatment of women. Then I tune into GH and what do I see? Sam tied up in some dark hole while Jerry literally pimps her out to gross men. Her punishment is... to be gang-banged. Thanks for putting the "porn" into torture porn, Guza. Really, are we supposed to be thrilled by this plot turn? It's gotten to the point where I am actually angry at Kelly Monaco for allowing this to happen to her character. I always thought she was somewhat more talented as an actress than her past in skin mags led many to believe. Yet she is letting Frons and Guza treat her like a somebody who strips for cash. From DWTS and an almost-part on Desperate Housewives to this? I don't care how much GH are paying her, how many outs she has in her contract. I just wish she'd say to JFP "Actually, no. I'm tired of Sam being demeaned like this. No other character on the show has to do this shite." Heck, Frons has backed His Precious before, so why doesn't she go to him and ask him to tone it down? On the upside: Liz & Nikolas. I can't help but like these two friends who are falling for each other, even though it adds to the Destruction of Lucky. And NLG's scene with that little girl who plays Molly. Especially when they talked about Molly being ignored by the other kids, or when Alexis brushed her tears away before brushing away Molly's. That little girl actress was in the moment! THIS is the Alexis I know and love, and this is the Davis-Cassadine family unit I have been wanting to see. And that family unit? With Nik's track record, Liz would suffer the most. I feel sorry for Rebecca Herbst. I don't think this story would be happening if Nik/Rebecca hadn't bombed. Obviously I love seeing Maxie and Robin in scenes together (a really underrated sisterhood, there. KMcC and KS work really well together), and throwing in Patrick and Mac felt familiar and welcome. But Mac sounded like he couldn't believe the [!@#$%^&*]-awful dialogue he was saying. And I just cannot buy SpinMax as anything more than intense BFFs. TPTB are obviously afraid of showing them in a carnal situation. I don't think they have confidence in BA's looks to pull it off. Having Maxie play into the Nik/Lucky/Liz stuff would be an interesting dynamic. Especially if a newly-empathetic Maxie was now looking out for Lucky (instead of, you know, enabling a drug addiction). No female actress has ever had a voice on GH and that isn't ever changing. Why? Why? It is craziness on GH. They did just have a gross extended love scene so I don't think that is true. He is blah and he was shirtless, while GV stays clothed. The injustice. Since Lucky and Emily isn't ever going to happen, I love the idea of Lucky and Maxie finding their way to each other. When JaSam broke up and Liason became the end game, Monaco wasn't happy and even though Sam's pairing with Lucky proved to be a breakout hit, Monaco put the kabosh on it and insisted that she get put back into Jason's sphere. Frons complied. Also, she benefits from a bunch of outs in her contract. Genie Francis couldn't get an extended vacation for love or money. Long story short: Frons WUVS her and has her back. I have never believed that Liason was the end game other than in the mind of their fanbase. It always seemed to me that Jason and Sam were broken up because Kelly's contract was ending and there was a strong possiblity that she was leaving. Once she re-signed, Jason and Liz were ended soon after. Also, I always got the impression from interviews that Kelly was very happy working with Greg who is a good friend. Anyway it was obvious that Guza had no intention of building the Lucky and Sam. They got minimal airtime despite their hot love scenes. There was never any shot of Lucky keeping Sam. Same way Liz had no shot at keeping Jason. I have no doubt that Frons appreciates Kelly, but I don't believe for one second that he would not play hardball with her. Members Ann_SS Posted August 11, 2009 Members Share Posted August 11, 2009 Some Emmy producer, Jim Romanovich has tweeted that according to his sources that Kelly has re-signed which suggests that the casting call was indeed ABC playing hardball with her. ABC let its beloved Vanessa Marcil go than accomodate her request for time off and she was ten times more prized than Kelly. When Thorsten Kaye balked at his pay cut, ABC didn't put a casting call for Zach on AMC. ABC only does this to their female soap actors. This idea that any female actress has any power at GH is pure fan myth. Look how Sarah Brown, Guza's muse, is publicly dissing her own character and pleading for fan support because he has not given her the redemption and has her twisting on the vine. There is no way that Kelly or any other female soap actress can any power to dictate their story direction or plead with Frons to do something different on that network.
