LMAO at Sharon the "sex therapist".

She can be today's version of what Christine was at her legal aid job. First step -- special guest star Shannon Tweed helps teach Sharon the ropes, literally. Shannon then "treats" Jeffrey to death, while special guest star Eden Riegel helps Chloe and Billy have a breakthrough.

Julijams

It really would have been good I think. It would have ramped out the Phyllis/Sharon hate. It wouldn't have taken anything for Sharon to seduce Daniel. He has a soft spot for her due to Cassie.

I did think at one time they might go for Sharon/Daniel, because of the drama with Phyllis and with Cassie. I think they'd make a hot couple. Amber/Daniel aren't the greatest couple but even their early sex scenes were hot.

Is anyone else getting the vibe that the second Fed guy isn't legitimate, either? At some point wouldn't you demand to meet in his office to make sure that he's who he says he is, after being burned the first time?

IA, but at least this guy wanted Daniel to call up his assistant and set up a polygraph. Presumably that would be done at the GC branch of the FBI ;)

New Summer is cute and actually has a personality, unlike her predecessor. I'm so glad they recast the role. The new little girl was good with what they gave her to do in Tuesday's US episode.

Brittany was the new Nikki, and MarkH loved every second of it. :)

Come back Brittany! :D

ha! so true!!

She really was tho. And as much as i love Amber, id take Brit back over her.

When the hell will Y&R release their new publicity pics? I saw this new pic of Mary Jane from the Sony site, and I liked it.

Ehh, Y&R is awful at putting pictures out there. You just gotta wait til someone with access leaks them.

It has a Hogan Sheffer stamp of approval vibe to me

You are totally right, and I am not a fan of his', not at all.

Y&R is becoming like every other soap with these shallow storylines.

What I find interesting is that MAB loves to snub the crap perpetrated by her predecessessors. Olivia's fling with Brad was glossed over with no qualms, and the same goes for Brad's reliquary storyline [they occasionally mention Colleen's 'grandmother' (whenever TS has got to shoot a movie), but they make a point of not saying her name, we don't know whether it's Rebecca or Dina]. Does she honestly think that this cr@p is any better than the ones listed above and that she wants us to forget? I really want to know because this whole art storyline is ridicoulus.

The only fling Amelia Heinle needs is someone flinging her ass off this show.

:lol: For once, total agreement! It kills me -- Heather Tom simmering in nothingness ACROSS THE HALL.

There's been so much meaningless sex on the show lately, I think any story about a fling or affair will probably not have an impact.

When Phyllis was gonna run upstairs at GCAC to fight for Nick, I wondered "Did you even shower"? When Jack was about to have his second quickie of the night with MJ, I thought "Dude...did you AT LEAST use a moist towlette?" It is all quite dirty and disgusting, actually.

And while I think Morrow can be quite attractive, he is currently being done so slimy, I also imagine he is odiferous.

The only time MG had serious chemistry with a woman was CK or DS Lily. And the only time AH Vicky had chemistry with a man was with Nick or Adam.

Nah. I disagree. I like him with Amber. They do best, though, when they're apart and fighting to be together.

A) I'm supposed to sympathize with the fact that Victoria and Daniel are so desperate for a storyline they do the stupidest things to initiate drama?

Loved the MarJane/Jack "blindman's-bluff" scene today, well done she's a crazy mess. SH is playingher perfectly. I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see what she will do and if Jack would catch a clue. Loved how SH transitioned from confident/seductive/mysterious facade to almost emotionally fickle by the time Jack left

Loved the Adam/Ashley scenes. CE man, if it were left upto me to just watch and determine why I would have never guessed. He is absolutely owning this character loved the dynamic and chemistry that is developing between Adam/Ashley.

The art storyline is very, very worrisome. The foundation of it now is so shaky that even the most generous amongst us believing any of it. It has rendered Daniel stupid, Victoria careless... Not a good start.

PB played that mix of desire and fear quite nicely with MJ. That said, I don't actually think "sappy Jack" would be as insensitive to her feelings as he is being written. That is "old Jack" (Terry Lester's, which is what scarred Patty Jane in the first place), but it doesn't ring true the way he is treating her.

This is CE's shining hour...and Eileen is masterful in her victim role too. I totally feel for her...which I don't usually. But I'm getting more excited about Muhney.

And I won't argue with any of that, A - really, truly, sincerely. I totally get where you're coming from, and while it doesn't bother me so much, I do completely understand why it does bother you, and respect that.

I just can't call it Passions. ;)

It is not Passions. But I think since August 2008, there has been a recognition that there need to be MAJOR plot crescendos to keep the viewers coming. That is what we're seeing.

I actually think we're in a remarkably balanced era now...Bill Bell's characters (mostly in character), but with a lot more plot and momentum. We need a higher frequency of those character moments (conversations, mixing up characters who should be together -- like Nikki and her kids), but I think the balance is getting close to where it needs to be in the modern era.

Amber is a total zero outside of Kay. I have a feeling TPTB think she's the new Nikki. Ha!

Before that, she was the new Brooke Logan. (B&B)

I don't think she is either, but I think she is funny, cute, and she has the most personality of many of the younger actresses (e.g., Lily, Colleen, Jana, Victoria, Mac). She brings energy to her scenes.

Brittany was the new Nikki, and MarkH loved every second of it. :)

Come back Brittany! :D

:mellow::huh::o:rolleyes::angry:

On the topic of Nick being unattractive....

I agree those pics up there are FUG. I also think he's being styled this way these days because we're not supposed to root for him. Makeup supports story.

But Morrow has his moments, and he doesn't even have to be cleaned up to do it. Damn, I miss my heroic firefighter-Nick.

--

Topic switch. Michael Muhney was interviewed in the latest SOD, and I do like what he has to say about Adam:

It all happened quite rapidly. I met with Y&R and I wanted to rub my hands together in mischievous glee while they were explaining Adam to me. All I could see was this fantastic, manipulative, tragically flawed Shakespearean character that I could sink my teeth into. That's an actor's dream! I also thought if this meeting is indicative of the people I will work with on the set, then I'm going to enjoy every day of the year on this show....I was impressed and touched at the length evereyone went to at introducing themsevles, talking about the show and asking about me. I expected perhaps a bit of hazing or 'Oh, he's the new guy', but there was none of that. It's a very welcoming environment, which is great because you can let your guard down, and just focus on your work.

On CE

I've been so busy, I haven't had time to see what's out there.

Also

I'm excited about the challenges ahead and the experiences my character gets to have. As far as I'm concerned, the more drama the better -- and I mean in the scenes, not off the set or in the media.

Welovesoaps' new contributor, Michael Goldberg, has an interesting review of Y&R these days.

He's positive, and he mostly loves La Stafford. Here is an excerpt (read the full thing to understand what the "46 words" referenced below are):

Everyone and their mother (well, my mother doesn't watch and she is missing out) has rightfully praised THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS for its return to character driven writing, its use of history and veteran actors, and its truly compelling storytelling. Not only are the residents of Genoa City the horniest bunch in daytime soaps (Love in the afternoon, anyone?), but it's using the storytelling device I enjoy the most; the lurker who sees everything that she isn't supposed to see....I loved crazy Phyllis whose mission in life was ridding the world of Cricket. As she slowly redeemed herself and fell in love with Jack, I was in her corner as well. ... omehow [she] morphed into the Stepford Wife who couldn't do anything wrong. Where was the rooting value?....All was forgiven on Friday's episode. Not only did Stafford exquisitely convey the devastation of Phyllis losing the love of her life (Nick had just walked out on her), but where most actresses would have camped it up, she was incredible in her restraint....It took 46 words (written by Janice Ferri Esser) to get to the core of who Phyllis is and what motivates every crazy decision and conversation she has. I identified with her. I understood her. All of a sudden, everything she has done since she has lived in Genoa City made sense. I can't thank Young and the Restless and Michelle Stafford enough for making me FEEL something again. This is what soaps are all about folks.

Oh, MarkH, you're such an optimistic viewer! Even Nelson Branco, who took forever to warm to CE, seems to lament the recast. It becomes an entirely different different story on a sub-textual, psychological & symbolic level with the recast. It is what it is. It'll be entertaining on some level I'm sure but it becomes a much more generic story. Perhaps it will read as a good version of whatever it is they're trying to do with Paul on ATWT, a man-child with confused daddy issues who refuses to grow up.

That was a great scene & moment. Intellectually we all know what motivates Phyllis but this was a great window into the pain & insecurity at her core.

Check out the signature. That was a great epi I always love JFE scripts it seems, wasn't she the one who wrote the Marge Narrative themed epi?

The greatest thing about the dialogue for me in Fri epi was how the characters just spoke and expressed themselves how I always imagined these characters would regularly speak under any circumstance and yet still be able to reveal much about their situations. It was regular people dialgue with complex happenings involved.
