Well, it was a joke. I assume they're assuming the majority of GL's viewership is white and with the economic crisis they realized they had problems outside of Reva and Josh.

Geez SNL just sucks these days. That type of smirky, glib, brainless humor is exactly what is wrong with modern comedy. And since when are soaps the home of white viewers? SNL isn't exactly diverse.

Exactly...this is why I have been asking. Because on paper, the joke doesn't work. What does "white" have to do with it? As we know, African American viewers are a significant portion of the audience.

If they had said "old" viewers, that would also have been offensive, but it would have worked better...because of GL demos. But this? Makes no sense.

They aren't moving The Tonight Show. It will stay at its time period with new host Conan O'Brien. Jay Leno is getting a new show that will be on at the earlier time.

That joke was an epic failure.

the joke was an epic fail... that said, this has been the best season of SNL in a very long time.
