April 12, 200916 yr Member Did anyone see this? Anyone have a link? The fragment I've read says that "GL was cancelled when its white(?) viewers started having problems of their own". Surely that's a misprint. What was said?
April 12, 200916 yr Member LMAO I checked on NBC but I couldn't find a clip of it. Edited April 12, 200916 yr by Rakesh

April 12, 200916 yr Member Well, it was a joke. I assume they're assuming the majority of GL's viewership is white and with the economic crisis they realized they had problems outside of Reva and Josh.
April 12, 200916 yr Author Member Uhhhh...... .......and when does SNL get its cancellation notice? After its 72nd season?
April 12, 200916 yr Member Uhhhh...... .......and when does SNL get its cancellation notice? For real, this show hasn't been funny since like the mid-90's.
April 12, 200916 yr Author Member For real, this show hasn't been funny since like the mid-90's. The ever reliable Roger Newcomb now has a roundup of the SNL joke, the Letterman joke and the Mike&Mike joke. Sigh.
April 12, 200916 yr Member Geez SNL just sucks these days. That type of smirky, glib, brainless humor is exactly what is wrong with modern comedy. And since when are soaps the home of white viewers? SNL isn't exactly diverse. Edited April 12, 200916 yr by CarlD2
April 13, 200916 yr Member After its 72nd season?  Or when NBC decides to move it to an earlier time period like they are doing with the Tonight Show, because that is going to solve all their problems.
April 13, 200916 yr Author Member Geez SNL just sucks these days. That type of smirky, glib, brainless humor is exactly what is wrong with modern comedy. And since when are soaps the home of white viewers? SNL isn't exactly diverse. Exactly...this is why I have been asking. Because on paper, the joke doesn't work. What does "white" have to do with it? As we know, African American viewers are a significant portion of the audience. If they had said "old" viewers, that would also have been offensive, but it would have worked better...because of GL demos. But this? Makes no sense.

They aren't moving The Tonight Show. It will stay at its time period with new host Conan O'Brien. Jay Leno is getting a new show that will be on at the earlier time.
April 13, 200916 yr Member the joke was an epic fail... that said, this has been the best season of SNL in a very long time.
