Uh, didn't EON stay on ABC for like ten years?

In steady decline, it sure did!

Can someone explain to me why this was announced a mere two days after all of this press regarding that TV Week article (or whatever it was)

How long did they REALLY intend to wait to announce GL's cancellation?? Until that conference in May?

This is the part that I find shady.

Hopefully this news will light a fire under all the other remaining soaps. They all have to step up their games if they want to survive.

I hope you are right. How wonderful it would be if it mattered!

Damn this thread has more viewers than GL.

I laughed way too hard at that.

Still, I wonder how they're going to promote the series now in the run up to its finale? 'Life doesn't happen here for much longer'?

I'm blown away. I thought this was April Fools at first. Farewell old friend. ATWT needs to step up or it will be next.

How much lead time does TV Week need before it goes to print? I suspect the decision was made by the muckety-mucks quite some time ago and has been quietly in the works behind closed doors among the accountants and lawyers and such.

Because affiliates kept switching the times and stuff, silly!

And replacing that genius, Henry Slesar, with Lee Sheldon, did the show no favors.

Damn you Ed Trach! Damn you!

Your damn right it should matter. AMC, OLTL, and ATWT are about to alternate as the LOWEST rated soap. What loser would want THAT title?

Its scary.

One gets the image of Ellen Wheeler calling people in the middle of the night, crying, asking if they're sure the show is safe another month. Like handling a crazy relative.

This isn't exactly great news for ATWT either. Naturally, I'm reminded of Another World and Sunset Beach's one year reprieve.

These days, GH too. If this is not an April Fool's joke (how tacky to do it today even if it isn't a joke), the entire ABC line-up is essentially at the bottom of the ratings whenever ATWT has a half-decent week.

It helps that the ABC soaps do well in the big Eastern media markets. I'm sure that internally, they are on solid ground. ATWT is the soap that is now in most danger. P&G could decide to pull the plug instead of staying in the soap business.
