Y&R: Jill To Be Temporarily Recast

Dano, Stuart and Wyndham would not be good choices as Jill recasts IMO.

Christine Jones, I'm still on the fence about.

Sherilyn Wolter? hmmm... that's a possibility. I too, like range would like to see a primetime actress as a temporary Jill. More so Linda Gray than Mills or van Ark. I don't see anyone from Dynasty being a good candidate.

I love Stephanie Beacham to death, but no one with a British accent needs to put their hands on Jill. We don't need Carmen Duncan as Iris icing on an already WTF cake.

She's doing 90210 and she's eight years older, but Jessica Walter also came to mind. She and Melinda Fee are around the same age, and people said Melinda was too old when she was temp Jill back in the late '80s.

VW may not be everyone's favorite, but I still think she's a better choice than AS. As I said in a previous post, VW best matches JW's energy as Jill. And remember, JW wasn't exactly a hit with everyone when she stepped in as Jill. Comments people made about her were similar to the ones they made about VW when she replaced Robin Strasser on AW.

I'll have to comb my brain a bit, but I'm wondering if the Marj Dusay/Capitol route is the best to go... not a daytime name, but a primetime vet who may not have immediate name recognition but her face is certainly familiar and she's super experienced.

Marj Dusay is a little old to play Jill isn't she? Isn't she in her 70's now?

She's 73, Jess is 60. That's a big difference.

No no no :P I wasn't saying that Marj should play Jill, I was saying that perhaps they should go the casting route John Conboy did for Myrna Clegg on Capitol. After Carolyn Jones passed, he temp cast Marla Adams (famous in the soap world for Belle on Secret Storm, then later she became Dina on Y&R), but then he cast a stranger to daytime, Marj Dusay, to ultimately take over the role. Marj had never done soaps but had years of primetime experience, she wasn't exactly a "name" but a familiar face who was utterly charismatic and made for a great Myrna. That's the type of actress I was suggesting as a possible Jill temp.

Y&R will go younger with this temp recast i have a feeling.

If they go the route I suggested, then most likely, I think you're right. Just as they did with Marj/Carolyn, just as they always try to do. I think we can all agree that Jill is a tough role to cast. She brings with her a huge s/l and chunk of show history, and the fingerprints of unforgettable actresses. Any recast working beyond a day or two must be considered very carefully.

I wish I knew the full story here. I wonder what kind of scrambling is going on over there. As long as Jess is on the road to full recovery, I honestly don't care if the recast totally bombs.

This is so funny... And not in a good way.

Everyone wants Walton back, yet everyone screams for their favourite. Weird... One would imagine people were going to say: I don't want anyone to replace Jess, I'm to depressed by her temporary exit... :( Or stuff like that.

But no — Mark wants Adair, this member wants that one, this one the other one and so on.

Fun.

I've been thinking the same thing Sylph...if that makes you feel any better.

I also understand why everyone has done their bit of speculation, it's interesting and it can be fun too. Even I've done it by picking Anna Stuart.

I am almost scared to know the full story. I think it makes it alot easier for us to play casting director because we do not know the seriousness of Jess's situation...
