Y&R: Week of March 9, 2009

This is my problem right here with the Phick marriage. Phyllis is basing alot of her actions on Sharon's. It's like a competition. It's less about what the problem in the actual marriage itself is. She should look reasonably at why Sharon's an obstacle and who is contributing to that and take it from there. I think in that sense the story is realistically written because alot of women look at themselves and "the other woman" and blame both when they should also look at the man's issues and recognize how they contribute. When I watched the most recent episodes I see why the marriage is not going to work unless they boh get it together, the marriage for both is more about Sharon than it is for each other.

I did not think Phick evolved either. In fact I think they started growing more apart since Phyllis's trial. I do believe he is torn between both women though but he is not going about the situation the right way of course

I think mental illess or not the way Sharon's sex life shouldn't at this point be explained to any of those people. Regardless of what role they play in her life I remeber the episode where she sent Jack divorce papers. Point is the character of Phyllis is trying to compromise herself as a way to save her marriage I just hope the character will get tired of doing that and stand up to Nick as who she truly is

Phylis want a stable marriage but She must don't know about Nick cheating ways. Phylis must have thought that if he got with her golden coochie Nick won't have to cheat on her like he did Sharon. Nick taught her a lesson by going back to Sharon.

I have yet to see the majority of wives (especially on these message boards) looking at themselves. They tend to blame the other woman entirely, because to blame the man, would mean they would have to analyze what was lacking in the marriage, or the man, that caused him to cheat in the first place. It is easier to say all men only think with the head between their legs and pin all the blame on the woman who should have known that man was "taken" and respected the marriage.

I don't see how either Sharon or Phyllis can analyze their marriages and decide that Nick is a keeper. He can't keep it in his pants and his vows mean nothing. They might as well park him in the stable and take him out when required for sex or procreation since he is nothing more than a STUD.

I see so many women willing to compromise who they are to keep the man from personal knowledge alone. It's that "maybe it's me" dysfunction. "Maybe I need to be more....or lesss...." I also think too that alotof women don't admit out loud that they have those insecurities about themselves.

Oh we definitly agree there, at this point he is no prize for either.

How do you watch a soap opera and not rationalize? They're not documentaries. These are twisted, soapy stories that we can't get enough of. Naturally, not all of the stories but we each pick what we like. The triangle story is a little gross but to knock it because fans who enjoy it are rationalizing and thus able to enjoy it seems a little ridiculous. You're watching a soap opera.

I watched Patty on DOOL years ago, Trish Clayton Banning, she was married to David Banning, Julie William's (Susan Seaforth Hayes - Y & R Joanna ) son and she was the mother of Scotty Banning, I think she a "multiple personality disorder??" cause I think she killed her step father!!! she is married to a former Y & R writer. She has been un-used for years! but there is a shortage of men in Genoa City!!!

I also do not watch soap operas for lessons in morality or parenting skills!!!

I was really impressed by Emily O'Brien. She was fierce and not afraid to look ugly twisting her mouth all over the place and wearing little to no make-up. On the other hand, I don't want to start anything, but Tammin didn't even try and hide her accent in those scenes. Maybe it is hard to concentrate when someone is turning in a real performance in front of you. I vote Emily for the Daytime Joke awards formerly known as the Emmy's!!

I took such perverse pleasure in seeing and hearing Kevin beg to stay out the closet.

I agreed with every word Gina said. I wouldn't be surprised if that was foreshadowing. Somewhere down the line, Kevin will go psycho again.

I like psycho Kevin and actually prefer him a bit on the darker side as it gives Greg Rikaart something to work with other than the comedic and quirkiness he's been as of late. I agree though, EOB did great, not that I'm surprised; Sursok could learn a thing or two from her because EOB flat out did better the last two days than anything TS has done thus far.

I take back EVERYTHING I ever said about Emily O'Brien when she got the Emmy nomination last year. EVERY WORD.

I was wrong. Dead wrong. I totally admit it. Today cemented it for me. Girl is GOOD.

Oh my goodness. I can't believe you'd write that! To watch him suffer like that...and to be reminded of how he suffered as a child...it was painful to watch such torture. To see him have to confront his damage so solidly again... Beautifully acted and painful to see.

Jana had a headache the other day. I wondered if, just maybe, that 1% of residual tumor might start to act up? But your point is taken...she is very good. Especially when you consider she is able to do it WHILE putting on that accent.

I want the current incarnation of Kevin to suffer. I miss Kevin with an edge(Not necessarily the STD carrying version). I've never preferred cutesy Kevin with lovely accented Jana. I'd like to see more of a struggle in Kevin learning how to grow as a man while never forgetting the destructiveness of his past.
