Best to worst: Opening credits

I dont understand how an opening can cost too much...surely once you've had it created all you have to do is update it, which can surely be done in house? I cant imagine it would cost too much for ATWT to have their cast stand in front of a white background and strike a pose, I would have thought that would cost far less to update than the one that followed due to the fact they didnt need to do anything with green screening and CGI backgrounds.

I can see how it can cost a bit, but what I can't see is why are all of them so awful? Cheap, D-production, bland? Even the AMC book thing. It's tedious how they rehash that one. Is it so hard to invent a new concept of high quality? To pay someone to write new music? And I don't mean James Newton Howard, isn't there like a platoon of young composers with PhD from Yale, Thornton and Juilliard? Who love pop music and would more than welcome the opportunity? And although I do sometimes like the title cards, soaps just require some outrageous and pompous music that 'invite' you to watch the episode.

The AMC photo book is classic. It should ALWAYS remain a part of the opening. I hate how the current one has de-emphasized it. As far as music goes, the theme is classic as well. Im glad they went back to the early 90s one in the 2002 update, although they did remix it to make it more modern. I like the openings to representative a recurring theme with the show and for that to be kept in tact among revisions as opposed to somethign radically different each time

It's annoying. I loved it, and still partly do, but all the It's a classic! It should always remain part of the show! is killing it for me. It's not that good.

As for the theme, I could go with that. When the theme is good. When it's bad, dump it. And put a ban on the saxophone.

The photo album is classic and should be there always lol It's not the photo album's fault that the people in charge of making the opening can't come up with creative ideas to use it.

Ditching the photo album now would be like 60 Minutes replacing the stop watch with a clock from the top of someone's iPhone.

I guess this is an instance of insularity and provincialism? I just don't buy it, I'm mildly annoyed by such views. Blah. Stupid book. Pf. That's, I guess, an instance of people giving a [!@#$%^&*] about complete irrelevant bullsh!t and having high blood pressure because of it. LOL.

Or could you imagine Days getting rid of the hourglass and using a stop watch? Yikes! Some elements should remain in the openings. AMC, like Days are one of the few soaps that havve a distinctive element that has transcended the decades and have always been maintained. I hate that the album in the current AMC opening isnt prominent at all but at least its still there. I think the opening would be alot worse had they ditched it completely.

For goodness's sake, who has high blood pressure? You're the one who seems to be getting worked up. It just seems pointless to me to take a symbol that has been a part of the show since day one and replace it for no particular reason. Like just about all of the aesthetic changes these shows have made over the last 10 years, it would do absolutely nothing but make today's AMC feel even more like a show that's completely different from the one we're used to. There'd be little to no positive reaction against a largely negative or apathetic reaction, so what would be the actual point?

DAYS gets rid of the hourglass and uses a stop watch, GH gets rid of the hospital and uses WebMD, B&B gets rid of the fashion shoot and uses a pouty/scowly tween girl in front of a mirror making MySpace poses.
