I hate "nice" soap characters. To me the ones that make me turn in every day are those who are out for themselves and yet can have close relationships with a few select individuals. That balance is what works for me.

Maybe it is because I'm not a guy, but I just don't understand the appeal of CK or Lily. To me the only scenes she is able to convincingly pull off are those of anger, like she showed at the cabin. The romantic stuff leaves me cold because I do not see and feel the passion, just a sense of romantic entitlement. I feel that Billy Miller has been carrying her these days and she is dragging him down. It will be interesting next week to see how Billy's chemistry with Lily and Chloe compares with

Don't worry. I'm a guy and I don't understand the appeal either. However, I will say this: I don't have this intense desire to see either Lily or Cane leave as others do. Perhaps it's the general greatness of the show itself, but it has allowed me to tolerate some of the other parts of the show that aren't up to my tastes, as no one can ever be expected to enjoy an entire show at all times. I know someone will enjoy Lily/Cane. And who knows? Maria Bell has worked a few miracles already. Maybe she can make me like them in a well-written story that won't bore me.

I'm not saying I want everyone to be a goody two shoes. God knows I love Phyllis and I loved Diane Jenkins back in day (We LOVE you Susan Walters!) but to me there's a difference between being a flawed person and being a despicable excuse for a human being.

Chloe fits the later for me.

In regards to CK I liked both versions of Lily. I think both actresses can act. CK was great in her scenes at the cabin. For all the talk of chemistry between Billy and Chloe I see far more between Billy and Lily. Not to mention Cane is just a complete borefest that I hope he dies...no seriously I just think he's a waste of space. His hot body and looks don't even excuse his horrible farce of a character like JT.

Oh well to each his own. I see the passion between Lily and Billy. The day that he admitted to her that he was Sonny was a true eye opener.

I'm glad he told her the truth about the baby. At least that's one obstacle out of the way. I'm not naive though. The road for them (if there is one) won't be easy at all. Especially judging from the previews/spoilers. But that's soap operas for you and I hope that the writers see how perfect the two of them are together.

I'm glad Murphy suspected that Katherine had been kidnapped.

Jill is such a b but she's one heck of a fierce b and that makes all the difference in the world!

Hope to see more Colleen next week as well as Victor and Ashley!

I have to say...I'm not seeing the Billy and Chloe chemistry anymore either...it's like Lily said, they deserve each other because they're both selfish assh*les. I love them both, but not together and I use to LOVE them. AND THEN I couldn't believe it, but I found the aborted kiss between Chloe and Cane was...hot. Damn. How did THAT happen?!

Billy Miller is one helluva great actor. He plays Billy perfectly. He's a real person thanks to Miller's portrayal.

I just don't understand how anyone liked Kay and Jill being mother and daughter. I just don't get it. But you're entitled to your opinion...I for one am THRILLED, OVERJOYED, ECSTATIC that the DNA has been undone and if that somehow gets reversed...I'll be devastated.

Sharon Case is always gorgeous, aside from her hellish hair that she never seems to tame. I love watching Sharon Newman (for I'll never think of her as an Abbott) fall apart at the seams. She must be having a great time, the writing is terrific for that character!

I think it's pretty clear that Billy/Lilly is just a temp stop for Billy/Chloe and Cane/Lily.

I still love them.

I'm so happy too. I hope that the DNA test wasn't tampered with. I'm a Billy/Mac fan and I thought it was awful to make them first cousins. And I want a Mac/Billy/Chloe triangle. :)

People say that stuff all the time. So and so is just a temp stop. It doesn't always turn out to be true...I'll just wait and see. Cane and Lily is even worse than Billy and Chloe IMO. At least Lily has a spark when she's with Billy. With Cane it's just on and on with nothing exciting or even fun happening.

Chloe is toxic and any relationship she's in she'll destroy. Unlike Phyllis there's nothing about Chloe that makes me feel for her. She created her mess now she can live with it.

The only triangle I want to see is Lily/Billy/Mac.

I hope they bring back Kelly Kruger or "Ash Bash". I've watched Y&R since way back and when I first started watching KK was playing Mac but I also saw Ash Bash and both were really good. not really feeling the 3rd actress to play Mac.

Amen. Bust out the champagne, because MAB had the guts to fix the greatest mistake in Y&R history. Her father-in-law, the great Bill Bell, would be proud.

I totally agree. I love when Sharon goes psycho, and her clepto-mania of late is friggin hilarious!

The mistake was making them mother/daughter in the first place. I simply don't understand how anyone who is a true or long-time fan of Y&R can't see that. What's next, Viki/Dorian as sisters? Jack/Victor as gay lovers? Brooke/Stephanie as mother/daughter? Those are all OBVIOUSLY simply terrible ideas.

Again, you GO MAB! Don't you dare UNDO your brilliant twist! :)

I've said it before, having Katherine and Jill as mother/daughter made their story even more interesting. They had been fighting for years and then all of the sudden, they find out they are related, it was a big rewrite, but a good twist.

I don't think they are reversing it, IMO, this is just another plot point to drag out the storyline with Katherine trying to get her life back, when it's all finished and think Jill paternity will remain the same. On a soap, it's really jumping the shark to mess with a characters paternity more than once.

Sorry, but I wholeheartedly disagree. This was a court-ordered DNA test, done within 24 hours. It doesn't make sense that anyone tampered with it. Again, why would Clint bother kidnapping Katherine if he knew the DNA test was going to prove that she wasn't Kay after all?

Sorry to all the haters, but we've got a BELL in the house. Someone who understands what the foundation of Y&R was built on and Bill Bell's original intentions with his characters. And she has chosen to undo what should have never been done in the first place.

KAY AND JILL AREN'T MOTHER & DAUGHTER! So eat it! :P

Jumping the shark is making Krystle Carrington & Alexis Colby blood-related. I ask you, did B&B jump the shark when it revealed that Ridge actually wasn't Bridget's daddy?

I think B&B did jump the shark when they made Bridget no longer Ridge's daughter. Unfortunately, now that Bridget has had sex and been pregnant by what would be her "uncle Nick" going back would be very gross. Although all paternity storylines on B&B have sucked.

At first I didn't mind the Jill and Kay were mother and daughter storyline. If I'm not mistaken, that was Kay Alden's baby and she had good writing to back it up. Since then however, the fire has pretty much left the Jill and Kay relationship. They became rather tender and loving where I think too much evil history has fallen between them to really justify that type of love. I like the idea of them becoming adversaries, forced to live together because of a court order, with neither budging or willing to sell. I also think Jill should be able to sue Katherine for extreme emotional damage from stealing her son and giving her a replacement. Maybe Jill could then also get a huge stake of Chancellor and all that it holds. Or if they don't have the court route, have Katherine realize that in her current health and mental state that Jill is the best person to run her company.

It would also have to come out as to why the first DNA test said they were a match. Was it Katherine who had it fixed so that Jill would be there for her in the end and take care of her. Jill was originally hired to be Katherine's companion/caretaker. What I would like to see is Jill, despite hating her, still having enough compassion for a suffering human being to help her with her through her memory problems and other ailments.

And what really has Chloe done that makes her so despicable? She didn't steal anyone's sperm and use it without consent, she didn't fix the paternity results to pass off Billy's baby as Canes, she didn't run over anyone. All she's done is break up a couple. A couple that if they were really so devoted, would have stayed together while he took Chloe to court to establish his parental rights. We live in the DNA age and paternity no longer needs to be established through marriage. I also think that Cane is so wrong to want to get this child used to a living arrangement and grow up watching a loveless marriage that is only going to be ripped away from the child when it young so he can be with his true love, Lily. To me that is not noble in any way shape and form just selfish.

To me the introduction of Billy has really changed Chloe from being an obsessive psycho to a vulnerable, emotionally damaged young woman. She loves both Billy and their baby, but is so scared of being abandoned by Billy like she was by her mother, that she is protecting herself through a relationship with Cane she is not invested in. I love her scenes with just her belly because EH has the type of charisma to carry a scene on her own.

I don't think they have lost it,

. Instead I wouldn't be surprised if they are being directed not to bring it in order to better establish Lily and Billy and Cane and Chloe as a couple. I have a sneaking suspicion that Lily is not going to tell Cane that Billy is the father because she is so noble and doesn't want to hurt him. She'll see him with "his" daughter and decide that maybe it is better for the baby not to have two train wrecks for parents. That way when Cane does find out, he and Lily will have to work their way back together rather than have instant happiness!

Since everything pivotal has been commented on, that leaves me with the garbage. LOL

What was Sharon wearing on Friday!? Was this a Halloween costume? Seriously, if she's wearing this with a straight face, it means she's way messed up right now.

Love Graz' new hairdo. However the writers are really hinting at him leaving the show. So I guess Graz won't sign a new contract - huh? Too bad, Daniel & Amber are fabulous.

Enough with the Cane & Lily flashbacks - aka most boring couple ever. Considering this show also has Snoretoria Blandstrom and JT or in the pasthad the likes of Ashley & Cole this is a superlative.

Apart from that, Y&R totally rocks.

I agree that Kay and Jill NEVER should have been made mother and daughter and I'm glad it looks like MAB is undoing something that should have happened. It was done for shock and awe and wasn't very well thought out because after the initial drama, we were left with Kay and Jill being attached at the hip and a great young couple in Billy and Mac being blown to bits.

    • They’ve been really nailing the fall out super well and your whole post really highlights some of the great parts and ramifications we’re seeing.
    • I like that this episode highlighted the ramifications of what Eva and her rotten mama did. They were so focused on Ted and Nicole, not even realizing that other people would be affected. Eva thought nothing of what she did to Mona bc she was sure no on would hold anything against her but Mona is right in that they ruined her reputation with the Duprees. They dont blame her but they will likely never trust her judgement again. She has to walk by them feeling the guilt and shame that she'll never live down bc she unknowingly played a role in the hell that was unleashed. Not to mention the trauma and trust issues she no has bc she genuinely viewed Leslie as a friend   And poor Laura nearly died when she had that car accident and then had a heart attack and infection bc she was poisond. She's been recuperating for 3 months. She missed her trip to Hawaii and no idea what impact this has done on her relationship and her own plans but no on was thinking about that.   Eva and Leslie need to be made to feel like ish bc this was bigger than just Ted and Nicole

    • Understand your point.  But I usually see Reginald's mustache twirling villainy as ultra campy bordering on comedic (albeit unsuccessfully).  And upon Reginald's exit, most of the overt camp/comedy seemed to cease. And although I'm aware camp and comedy are not exactly the same thing, I tend to throw them together anyway -- especially when discussing soaps.  You are correct, Mary was not played for laughs.  When I used to term "let's play everything for laughs" I didn't mean literally everything or every character was comedic. But TPTB put so much effort into comedy, it did tend to eat the show for a few years (again not literally). I'm just expressing my perspective on the topic, and lots of folks probably disagree.  That's cool. People who like comedy on soaps tend to defend it, and folks who don't like comedy (or think it want too far) tend to criticize it.  Whichever side of the fence one is on, it sure didn't help the ratings on AW.
    • Nope, it was not just you, I had the same issues. Most either disagreed with me, or just ignored my comments. But, I most definitely would have liked for them to take another route, even to add sheer variety in the storytelling. It is what it is, the story is a hit with the fans...
    • You may be a casual watcher, but you got SO much right.
    • I've been eagerly awaiting Kate's first episode under the new writers, and I wasn't disappointed. I started reminiscing about all of Kate's misdeeds when she said how good of a liar she was and how she saw right through Roman's lying. I really buy this matured, but still wise Kate in 2025, and the fact that you know under the right circumstances, the more ruthless side is always there, under the surface. Hopefully, with Roman about to confess, we get the full truth about just what the hell happened with Johnny the night EJ was shot, then all the major suspects will be eliminated, just for the writers to throw in that wrench that's waiting for it's time to shine. Everytime Brady thaws even a little bit towards Kristen I immediately get concerned. I was entertained by their fight, and it was smart to mention Kirsten having no friends, let alone positive female relationships except for Lani in regards to why Rachel is such a loser. As a viewer, do you think Stacy Haiduk as Kristen was at all thinking about her former friendships with Jennifer and Billie in that moment? I wonder if she's even aware that they were, or who Billie even is. Anyway, I do wish Kristen could have also thrown in Brady's face that he's literally the biggest slut in Salem. Rachel seeing and possibly hearing about him going from woman to woman would also negatively affect Rachel's negative ideals about women, and possibly her own self-hatred. I thought Doug's favourite class being English lit was a good through line from how impressed he was with grandpa Doug's poetry book to Julie. Hearing he dropped out because no one at home cared just made me yearn for more information about Charles LeClair as a father and person. Maybe it was this time that Robert LeClair was dying so Charles was distracted and it all fell apart after that? Alex with Kristen today is the most interesting I've seen him written. He was smarmy and cold and for a quick second looked like he was enjoying playing with Kristen clearly throwing herself at him, but when she dropped her facade he became merciful, but still unwilling to budge. He would have fit in well in the more complex 70s era as a cad with a heart underneath his bravado. However, and I can't stress this enough, I absolutely despise whenever he calls Philip, 'Phil.' It just itches my brain in all the wrong ways.
