I learned a little while ago that a close relative of mine passed away, so I'm not in a mood to say what I might have said. I will just say I hope he won't suffer and he uses this time as a period of reflection.

Rush Limbaugh will exit this word the way he inhabited it: trafficking in lies, hate, and opioids.

Here's how I feel about it.

The Iowa caucuses are a complete shitshow - apparently the apps aren't safe and the phone lines aren't working, delaying results by hours. Amy Klobcuhar has come out to say she did well and is going on to NH. That's about all anyone knows for sure - there are anecdotal statements going around but nothing confirmed.

And if this is accurate, turnout is at 2016 levels, which suggests many are burned out on this campaign already (there was tons of hype that Bernie bros would help cause a big turnout surge).

CNN is saying mayor Pete is the one who got the shaft while it helped Biden who will probably finish 4th. Pete would've gotten a bump.

Maybe this will be the final nail in the coffin when it comes to Iowa going first.  I understand that people who have been covering elections forever have a certain nostalgia when it comes to IA and NH, but it's time to move on from these places getting the first crack at it.

Biden's team are unhappy with the whole thing - you'd think they might be relieved with the news being overshadowed.

Apparently Pete is about to make a speech. Same old candidate speak I guess.

Bernie's cultists are saying it's all rigged of course, like it always is.

You'd think they'd be happy. In some areas of Iowa he was placing last. Why would he want the media to report that?

I just love how CNN pulls away as mayor Pete's husband comes on and plants a kiss on him while gay Anderson Cooper goes to commercial...terrible.

That's Jeff Zucker (Trump friend) for you.

The best thing for a campaign to do would be to write Iowa off as a loss due to error and focus on the next states coming up. Delegate wise it wouldn't really hurt to do that and it would avoid drama. New Hampshire is a primary so there will be no craziness because the votes are tabulated and reported out by the state.

I'm completely baffled by whatever is that is happening and why this is important at all?

The idea has long been that Iowa and New Hampshire are crucial to help decide the nominee. This has increasingly been called into question, as the Democratic Party has moved away from "the heartland" and such a white identity, but as it's still the first state, countless time and money is spent there for the purposes of momentum. Now that was removed from the equation and it's all just become a broken mess of conspiracy theories and infighting, and has already given Trump a big win going into November.
