I'm not going to say Nate has gone over to the other side, but I do think he has an ego about his model which has its flaws. And no, I'm not buying its wild swings anymore. I believe it dropped 8 points for HIllary this morning at random, then swung back 2 more. All based on bizarre modeling. I think people like Sam Wang are being a lot more clear-headed about the ebb and flow, the wild swings.

I'm reluctant to focus on the poll sampling because I remember the "unskewed" movement in 2012 for Romney. The media loves Trump and a lot of people will never support Hillary. I think it will be a very tight win for her at best, and we are pretty much seeing that. My main concern is if the "Trump wins" debate headlines tonight and the general fear and anxiety gripping the country help push this further toward him.

When I hear polling numbers skewed toward Trump I keep wondering where all these voters are coming from because aside from non college educated white males, Trump is losing every other demographic and he's even trailing Romney's numbers in that demographic. Hillary wins women, college educated white males, African Americans, Latinos(the last 2 by Obama margins) and every other demographic so I am not really sure how this leads to a Trump win. I remember Ohio being called for Romney the day before in 2012 and Obama winning it by 2 percentage points.  So unless voter turnout is really low(and no I do not believe it will be Sorry and I think minority voters have even more at stake and know it) I just can't fathom it.

As for the debate I don't think it's going to change how anyone feels. I don't buy that there are a zillion undecided and they are going to be swayed. Debates really have never made a difference other than in the short term. It might help confirm peoples decisions to vote the way they already are but in terms of swaying, no way. And we all know the media is going to declare Trump the winner, I am sure the scripts have already been written.

CSpan by the way is going to do real time fact checking as the debate is going on for people who are interested.

My students are asking me if I'm going to watch the debate. I said, "I don't want to talk about it." Their social studies teachers have assigned them to watch it and compare/contrast the candidates' immigration views. (They could just check their websites, lol). Wonder how much is going to be even dedicated to immigration. Probably, emails, foundation, emails... make America great again by doing something fantastic and tough, and more emails, and maybe the Iraq war vote. I have to look at the Holt's chosen topics again.

Debates matter.  They have trotted out the clips again and again of bumbling Al Gore and his sighing and saying Lockbox, Ford not realizing half of Europe was under the control of the soviets, George Bush and his watch,,,debates can affect how people see a candidate, just ask Marco Rubio or Dan Quayle.

Every election there is one or two great moments at the debates that can stand the test of video replay:  I loved when Obama told Romney that not only does the Navy not have as many boats, but they also don't have as many bayonets.

In terms of changing the direction of an election they have not mattered. That's factual. Romney beat Obama in the first debate and leveled the race out but that bounce only lasted a couple of weeks(and before the next debate happened Obama was back ahead). I think from reading articles the only race changing debate was Reagan/Carter in 1980.

New polling(a crazy day)

■NBC: CLINTON +7

■MONMOUTH: CLINTON +4

■ECONOMIST: CLINTON +4

■MARIST: CLINTON +7

■AP: CLINTON +6

■PEW: CLINTON +7

New Rueters/IPSOS poll has Clinton +4 in Florida

    • As you all know, my memories are sketchy, and at the time of this story, GH was probably at its most awful in its history.  I think Patsy Rahn was still playing Monica at this time, and her Monica was not written as a sympathetic character, so maybe that's why the viewers were able to forgive Steve, because it appears Steve was more interested in saving Jeff's life than Rick-infatuated Monica was.

Agreed.  Again, I really like the pace of the mystery. RonC always wrote a shocking crime, then it would be solved only through exposition at the end.  I feel like the audience is being shown some respect by them carefully closing all the loopholes.  For example, having Shawn-D call Rafe to turn in his gun was a clever device to get Gabi to confess. As much as I agree with @carolineg about the odd shift in Sophia's character, this plot is starting to make me angry.  A woman is denied an abortion and forced to raise a child?  It is gross.  The stomach pains are a hopeful foreshadowing.  But, if she fakes pregnancy, or hides his miscarriage, I am going to scream!!! Roman continues to be a mench, but I have to admit that I can never keep track of the difference between Max and Benjy.  I guess it helps that Benjy is dead.  Is Max still related to Carly?
    • If Sally Field had been more generous about the writing I would say that her assessment is really very fair. I found Soapdish very funny. The cast is great. Delirious with John Candy and Mariel Hemingway (and Emma Samms!) came out the same year and I had expected to prefer Delirious, but Soapdish is one that I can watch repeatedly.
    • I love SOAPDISH but I think TOOTSIE is better. Generally I am quite fond of gender-benders. VICTOR, VICTORIA, most favorite.
    • On GL we only saw young GA's Philip in very short shorts but on AMC we saw GA's Alec McIntyre in a speedo.  But, on GL, an older GA/Philip is having sex with Olivia in a hotel room where Bruce Barry was directing & he & she both end up down to nothing but black underwear & at one point his bicep is covering her entire upper body so it appears that she is naked. I think they ended up on the floor between the bed & the wall. That was when I realized that Grant's body was better than Steve Burton's. (Olivia was cheating. Her husband Alan was in the hospital.) It is notable that I can speak with any insight AT ALL about these bodies since that is not the team I play for! LOL
    • I mentioned that last week and I am glad Tate and Sophia just realized that today lol.  I think the show is just tying up some of Ron's loose ends.   You would think Brady, Holly or even Marlena would have perhaps pointed out the age thing to Tate at some point. I am not sure I like this shift in Sophia's characterization though.  MK played Sophia as someone who always defied her mom's rules-she just didn't get caught.  She was openly trying to steal Tate from Holly with no shame, showing up at the Horton cabin in bikinis to seduce him, and blackmailing Holly to work all her shifts at the Bistro.  Once the recast started the show has acted like Sophia's lived in her room, sheltered her entire life lol.
    • I thought Dante was going to put hands on Gio
    • If Jordan never appeared again, I would absolutely not notice or miss her.  So, while Brook Kerr has her flaws, she at least appears to have a pulse and a personality as Portia.
    • That's because India, or the India MKA ended up playing, was created due to the fact that both she and Kristi Farrell were liked by TPTB, but the part they both read for didn't exactly fit either one of them so the show created two brand new characters for both actresses to play (India and Roxie) and opted not to cast the character they were intending to cast (A cousin of Beth's). I think that's why the show seemed to struggle at first with how to write both India and Roxie in their first months on the show because the characters weren't ever intended to exist.  And yes.. Grant A had a great body... but I didn't find him hot when he was playing Phillip.. only when he was playing Alec on AMC which baffles me since it was the same actor in both parts LOL
    • I shared this on Twitter and good grief the comments. Steffy fans can be such vile real-life human beings over a fictional character lol.
