Oh, and I agree with JP about OC. The greatest thing about S 4 was NO MARISSA!

LOL, yes, THE O.C., too! Season 4 was brilliant, but I still think it kinda lost it towards the end. But, Season 1 was just perfect. If the show had ended there, I would have been happy.

Kimberly, I guess would count, but hers was hardly a concrete death. It was a setup from the beginning as she left MP, very much alive. All we heard was phone call regarding her mother claiming that she died

I'm a Season 1 purist. Summer out of her element SUCKED, Rachel Bilson tried, but Summer was a party girl, the activist bullsh*t didn't work at all. As much as I loathed Marissa, the show needed a fucked up cow, Marissa was that fucked up cow. Taylor was HOT, Kaitlin was good too...but the actual narrative, ghastly. What screwed The OC, for me, was that after Season 1 it got too nice, the first season was really bitter and showed Newport Beach for what it really is: spoiled, ridiculous, rich, conservative assholes milling about and indulging in the misfortunes of their neighbors (some of my best friends live there, so don't anybody say that isn't how it is, that's reality on THEIR block at least).

I don't have high hopes for Melrose 2.0...but I will watch the first episode simply because Thomas Calabro is in it.

They left the door wide open for her return. Unfortunately, it never transpired.

I already know what the major problem of this show will be: lack of focus. It's going to try to be appeal to both the original viewers of the MP and the current generation.
