I dunno if Ginger’s teaching career would have been a totally dead end…perhaps Ginger could have taken up stripping or had an affair with some kid’s dad and get blackmailed by another teacher or parent about it. Or been Brian’s teacher and Abby blackmails her into passing him to the next grade when he’s failing as opposed to ruining her career over such tawdry secrets.

Something I never expected to see: a fake version of the front of Val's house, clearly on a soundstage like the fake Southfork porch seen on many episodes of Dallas. It's seen in "Irrevocably Yours." I wonder if I'll see it again.

I actually think instead of doing the whole Sally's friend... maybe Ginger could have been the ex wife and/or relationship of Danny.

She would have had ties to Karen, Val, Gary, and Mac... and it could have potentially opened up more story about how she went from being Kenny's wife to ending up with Danny.

I'm down to the final four episodes of Season Seven. I'm wondering if Cathy and Laura's last scene was or will be that moment when Cathy declined Laura's invitation to join her and Greg at the movies. A shame; the ladies' friendship deserved better.

Also, Val and Jill were in the same room during "Phoenix Rising," but have yet to interact with one another.

And at this point, the only people who don't know about Gary fathering Bobby & Betsy would be Lilimae, Eric, and Michael, but all of them could make an educated guess.

Thanks to @Soapsuds mentioned how well Apple had the primetime soaps priced, I bought all of them. I decided to finally resume my Knots Landing watch with season 13. I couldn't remember where I left off so I've powered through the first 5 or 6 episodes so far. I must say, this is not easy but I'm happy I finally own the show and can easily watch it instead of bouncing from platform to platform.

Oh I didn’t even think of looking out KL after purchasing all of FC. How much is the complete series?

I believe it was $50! Dallas was $60 and Dynasty was $30.

Wow! Thanks for the heads up on this. Now I’m literally about to do the same thing with rest of them.

Yeah, S13 is a real bitch is to get through. None of the stories that the new team introduced worked, characters like Claudia, Paige and Kate didn't sound or behave like themselves at all; the Brian Johnston storyline spun so out of control that I still can't make heads or tails of it; and the biggest sin of all: wasting Marcia [!@#$%^&*] Cross.

As @DRW50 says, it's a blessing in disguise that JVA/Val was virtually ignored the entire season, lol.

Don't feel bad for Marcia Cross. Her Knots Landing run ended January 1992 and in September she got Melrose so it all worked out. I know you don't love Melrose but it was one of the definitive primetime dramas of the 1990s.

You're right. There is not one thing you can point to as a worthy distraction. It's all bad which makes it so hard to power through. Out of all the characters that got a personality transplant, Paige is probably the most annoying. Nicollette Sheridan cannot play a straight forward romantic heroine. She is too cold and the attempts at softness feel fake.

Val finally started to get interesting for the first time in years, right before the season ended. That always irritates me lol. At least she looks great this season.

Shades of what happened to Falcon Crest 1988-1990 all over again.

Michael Filerman meddling, bringing in EP’s/writers lacking soap experience (John Surnow of Miami Vice and The Equalizer for FC, John Romano of Hill Street Blues and yes Cop Rock lol for Knots. How did Romano convince Filerman and/or Jacobs he was a Steve Bochco prodigy again?), killing off popular vixens (Melissa on FC, Linda on Knots), the shows littered with new characters with zero potential and who no one cared about, character damaging plots (ie Richard kidnapping and gaslighting Angela, Claudia being responsible for Steve’s death), and desperate rewrites in vain to correct course.

All of that should have been easily fresh on the minds for the Lorimar crew, but it’s obvious from that Entertainment Weekly article in April ‘91 celebrating the 300th episode Jacobs and crew didn’t think it would happen to them and were above.

Ann Marcus really had her work cut out for her trying to salvage the back half of S13.

Oddly @Chris B history would repeat we discussed this before but after Party of Five made the EW cover, guess who was hired as the new EP the following season? John Romano, to uneven and abysmal results during that show’s penultimate season.

I’m glad S14 at least wrapped up everything, but it often feels more than anything else like a love letter to S11-13 with other old references thrown in and Diana’s return. I mean I was fine Tom Ryan being back, but we also had Nick and then also Vanessa for what superfluous reason. The fact that Nick and Abby had some kind of history was a bit unbelievable (but then again Abby did once have an affair with Richard).

That's how much I paid for Knots Landing a while back.

$60 is cheap for Dallas with every season in HD. I paid much more because I bought it as soon as it was released.

I paid $30 for Dynasty too. The picture quality of the show, which isn't in HD, still looks great.
