I agree that Heather Rattray wasn't that bad as Lily. Agreed on Batten & O'Connor, SOD should've picked Batten as the worst recast on ATWT. (don't remember White).

Didn't like her either as Carrie, such a different look.

That's what I liked to know. She's by far worse than Middendorf as Carrie.

Kevin Stapleton & Dan Gauthier were the two BEST Kevin Riley Buchanan's. I'd wish Gauthier was back on the show. I was pissed when OLTL axed Stapleton for the far inferior Tim Gibbs.

Jennifer Bransford did great at crazy as Carly, but that's all she could do.

AGREED!

Exactly about Bransford. Chambers was awful as Molly, but she was just alright as Marty, sure not "awesome".

I agree Chambers would've been a good Tea.

I agree about Recasner and Andrew Ridings.

Tammin was fantastic on Home And Away, but she looks very uncomfortable on Y&R. I think a big part of that has to do with concealing her Australian accent, she's just not too used to it, like say Nicole Kidman. I feel sorry for her, she should've been brought in as a relative of Cane's, because her American accent is weak and I think she's concentrating too much of it when she's acting. She just looks so misplaced and miscast as American Colleen, maybe if she were a separate Australian character on the show, fans would be a lot more accepting.

Yeah I didn't much care for Christina Chambers' Marty, and I know I am in the minority but I think Trevor St. John is completely miscast as Todd. I don't see him as Todd, to me it feels like he's playing Walker Lawrence-which is the character I think they should have just let him be

LOL that means diddly squat, I can think of plenty of characters on soaps that get airtime that aren't exactly all that well liked on their respective soaps.......

Zendall Fan quit trying to scare posters.

White had the blond surfer look to him. He looked nothing like a doctor. He looked like a guy who should be suffering with his blond hair.

Those polls aren't accurate, people can vote over and over and over, and also CK is only popular because she with a man Cane, because if she did a storyline by herself people don't like her and they still don't

    • Any fan of RuPaul would dispute calling any of these examples “drag”. A costume?, A disguise?, A lame attempt at humor? -- yes -- Drag? -- nope
    • No asterisk. I meant that the circumstances during the first year were in her favor.
    • Maybe I am misunderstanding you? Are you suggesting that her success at GL should have an asterisk next to it because she was smart enough to exploit a weakness in the marketplace to gain ratings?  Note: Try not to take this personally—I’m not accusing anyone of being consciously misogynistic. I’m simply proposing that the origins of certain ideas about Ms. Phelps—such as claims that she was unprepared or a poor manager of her writing staff—may be rooted in misogyny. Perhaps, with the benefit of hindsight, it's worth reconsidering those opinions. At the very least, imagine being one of the few women in the room while a male network executive tries to decide what women want to watch during the day. That context has certainly led me to reassess many of my own long-held views.
    • Through 78 and 79 under Marland and Pat Falken smith GH was still heavily hospital based with a mix of storylines. The Doctors would have been fine had they followed that template. Once GH went with Ice Princess all bets were off.Who knows how much TD would have copied that direction? And OLTL, DOOL went in that direction quite heavily while other shows dabbled in far out stories. The thing is that TD was well set up for an expansion.

    • Aaron Spelling still had clout with ABC in Fall 1984, as I think they knew he was going to pull out all the stops for Dynasty to get to #1, which he did. That's probably why ABC kept Hotel as Dynasty lead out. Fall 1985 with the sale to Capital Cities and Brandon Stoddard arrival, Aaron Spelling would lose his clout with ABC.
    • Correction, July 1991 to May 1995. JFP got the ratings up during her first year, but it also helped that ABC big three were tanking at various times during that year and Days was in their post-supercouple/pre-Reilly mess era. It will always disappoint me that the ratings during the Calhoun/Long/Curlee era did not reflect the quality of the show.

    • Perhaps. But would anyone have wanted The Doctors to turn into what General Hospital ultimately became?  Dear God in Heaven...
    • Thanks @EricMontreal22 that must be one of the last issues. Probably the best soap magazine.
