I've been on & off NEIGHBOURS the past few years but I'm checking out the October episodes and it's really, really good. I wish I had come back earlier. The article is right about the humor--it's little, silly scenes and stories, but they're often at least amusing if not downright funny. And the Chris/Josh, Nate (even though I am having some difficulty with the actor) and Paige storylines are fantastic.

Can't say I am crazy for Amber & Daniel but they work for me too.

I think the actor who plays Nate is a pretty weak actor in general but I was moved by the scene where Nate told Susan what happened in Afghanistan.

Yes, it was played with a complete absence of melodrama, he talked about it matter-of-factly, and it ended up being great. It doesn't hurt that it was a scene with Susan, of course.

Another really touching moment came when Josh was telling Doug that he wished he hadn't returned because he doesn't want his pop to remember him as being arrested. Donovan gave a heartbreaking reaction to Josh's words.

Jim's death is so iconic for the rolling oranges and the horrible CPR acting, not to mention how diabolical Fiona Hartman was.

I miss Rosemary and Helen.

Thought this might interest some people: Caitlin Stasey (ex-Rachel Kinski) gives a blunt interview (and goes full frontal nude) on feminisim and sexuality on her new website. http://herself.com/caitlin/

It's a very thoughtful, abrasive, super-liberal and interesting read.

A small extract was published in the Herald Sun.

Didn't realize they got a new theme tune and titles for their anniversary. The new title card is lovely, but I'm not sold on the theme yet.

Yet another show that I want to get back into but don't have enough time for :(

It's a little too angst-ridden and busking outside the coffee house.

I always like this version of the theme:

Yeah, I'm not too big on the "Aaaahhhhhhnnnnneighbuhrrrrrrssss" themes that they've had. This one seems like a backtrack to the earlier 2000s. I prefer the 1999ish theme from the eps Oxygen showed back in the day.

I really like the new opening. The astonishing toddler Nell and her parents blowing bubbles is adorable and the final bit of Karl and Susan in the driveway is quite sweet.

That's awesome. And it's so true. Best of all there's no "for a soap" disquailifier, which even many soap fans, myself included, are sometimes guilty of.

I appreciate Eddie Redmayne for saying what he did though I wish he used their real names.
