I loved it, too. I stopped watching back in April, but I knew I had to turn into this (and tomorrow's) to say goodbye to Dot/June Brown, and the show, thankfully, did not disappoint. I actually first teared up when Kathy started talking about Donna, and was just so enamored throughout. I'd honestly welcome back all the returnees home for good. I'd never even seen any of Disa before, but I was still able to feel for her and her loss. I hope tomorrow is just as good.

I haven’t gotten to the funeral episode yet, but the scenes where Sonia told everyone in the Vic that Dot had died felt brutally real. Gillian, Letitia, Natalie, and Rudolph all seemed very cut up inside -  but they all knew June for decades and were very close to her off-screen as well.

The touches of Martin mentioning how close Dot was to everyone important in his life, and Sharon saying she knew Dot all her life were nice and didn’t feel tacked on either.

I guess Dot’s greatest legacy was the impact she was able to have on other people’s children lives, the kind she was never able to have with her Nick. In the end, that’s what nurtured her as it did others.

I wasn't impressed by Dot's funeral episodes. It really wound me up how they had that cheesefest procession of everyone standing up to announce their memories of Dot, when the scene should have been given entirely to Sonia and could have been a heartfelt moment. There were also a lot of noticeable absences like Max, Carol, Charlie and Nigel.

I did like seeing Barry Clark again though, but it appears that the guy who plays Colin has forgotten how to act. And they already rolled our Mary and Lofty for the last funeral.

I thought he did a good job, he just didn't really have a lot to do. He hasn't acted professionally since the '80s, I believe, aside from his EE stints. I give him a lot of credit for that, and also for playing out a story of his husband dying of cancer when his real-life husband died of cancer. Admittedly I'm biased because Colin was one of my favorite characters.

The key for me was that last scene with Barry, which was just lovely. Initially I wasn't sure I wanted the characters to be back together because there was a very specific storyline about just why they were not meant to be (the age difference, Colin's fussiness, Barry's fear of being seen as gay, etc.) but hearing that they met up again through social media made sense. Colin being so eager to finally get to kiss him out in the open of Walford, after they had been so scared the last time they lived there together, and Barry's wonderment at it all - just absolutely lovely.

I don't mind seeing Lofty and Mary again, as they were such important characters for the early years. My main disappointment was no mention of Nigel. And yes, I didn't really love the part with everyone speaking, or Denise bringing up the Queen, although I could forgive as I'm sure it was hard to write.

    • I don't believe she did. She did sleep with Simon, believing he was a Spaulding.
    • -- If I ever get sick, please don't send me to Garland Memorial. That hospital is a YIKES. -- Soooo much activity around the main nurses' desk. Do they move dead people on a gurney past that desk, too? -- 8 months for Bill to recover from a "small stroke"? Uh....I don't think so. Is anyone researching this stuff? The hospital stuff is not coming off as realistic. -- It's good that Derek and Ashley are being integrated into other stories, but it's a real stretch to say Leslie was "stalking" Ashley. It makes Derek seem dumber than we already think he is. -- Ashley spends a lot of time having small talk while she's at work. -- Chelsea is embarrassing. Period. -- Tomas is supposed to pick up the slack for Bill, but he has time to have worthless conversations with Leslie? OK then. -- Kat is destroying the case against Leslie, but that's clearly the way to keep Leslie on the canvas.
    • 6-3   I almost let my system just delete the episode just like with B&B. I am now questioning if I should have. lol.   I just can't believe that Cole sat there and started to get sick and then only Victoria off and ran off and everyone basically went back to what they were doing at Nikki's birthday party. Cole was too much of a vet character for that. And now story back off-screen.   I did chuckle at how much Victor pay Kyle dust. And now Kyle with this deal and a promise to leave town if he hurts Claire. smh. As if Victor isn't going to make that happen.   It was lovely to see Ashley. And actually (misdressed and all) Abby.    And I liked Claire's dress.
    • Oh. That. I pretend that never happened.

I did think of another possibility. Did India ever sleep with Alan? They kind of toyed with pairing them up, but I'm not sure they ever became lovers.
    • While I do love the chaotic energy that is Kat vs Lesile, it is a bit extra. Sheltered, virginal Kat who plays it safe from her man to her wardrobe understands that Leslie is dangerous, but she's out here showing up everywhere and anywhere that Lesile is to be found and actively going to places where she is alone? I mean Kat doesn't even act a little afraid or intimidated by Leslie. Meanwhile, big Ole Derek out here begging for his and Ashley's life to Jacob.  As for Dani, I didn't see it that way. Dani and Bill were together for 30 years and shared a family. I believe there was real love there at one point. Bill is still an ass and Dani is still crazy, but realizing she may lose him and her daughter's may lose their dad definitely struck a chord.
    • Funny I randomly saw Kami’s lengthy post about the 44th anniversary of the Walton’s finale last week pop up in my news feed on Facebook. A few inaccuracies to her post but overall it was pretty insightful and interesting to read.
    • Well, depending on rewrites...Jennifer Richards potentially slept with Brandon and Alan. It does feel like we're forgetting someone, but then again, maybe I'm confusing that with brothers, which would include a lot more.
    • Maybe it’s me, and the fact that RC isn’t at the helm, but since Cwikly and Ford have taken over I’ve noticed the show doing a lot of things differently directing wise, and since the storyline of John’s demise began, the show has been using different scores, and dare I say better ones than this time last year. It’s interesting and I wonder if the any of it is Noel Maxam’s influence before being promoted.
    • I think Nicole is about to figure out what's going on between Andre and Dani.
    • @Efulton thank you. I don't know how I missed it or didn't recall it.  I'll blame amnesia . Anyway @Errol Could the newer thread be merged to the existing? Thanks in advance.
