She has not been seen in 2008, i still think this is a better year then last year on Corrie, despite that Ken, Blanche and Deirdre are underused, there has been a lot of Gail & Audrey. But as for Emily, Eileen Derbyshire is so underused!......

We just got Sarah and Jason's wedding on today's omnibus on CBC -- fantastic drama! David is such a creepy character, he's great. Loved his suicide attempt and unfolding drama.

aww, I like Doreen. I loved her calling Emily so she would wave at Sarah & Jason on their way to the church, and their throwing flower pedals over them when they got back. So cute!

I love Carla

Carla is something. It's great watching her torment the weaker characters, particularly Maria.

Tonight's episode was fantastic. Janice distracting Audrey with an impression of Edith Piaf that caused her to drive into a tree. That's the kind of sentence you can't write for another other soap.

Just a couple of clips to throw my 2 cents into the thread.

First from a couple of months ago when Theresa took offense at a party nextdoor and dragged Rosie out by her hair:

And my favourite Corrie catfight ever between Gail and Eileen when Sarah found out Todd was gay.

It's from around 1997. I wish I could remember what was going on but the stories are all a haze. I know it's from after the arrival of Brian Park as EP because Judy is arguing with Gary about the garage and this relates to her mother Joyce being killed. Joyce was one of the first characters Park killed off. It's also the start of Don Brennan's obsession with bringing down Mike Baldwin -- the scene's played pretty low key in the cafe but he ends up driving Alma into the canal and blowing himself up in an attempt to kill Mike.

The new mechanic at the garage has been in a few US series recently like Ghost Whisperer.

I enjoy watching her because she's just so weird. Sally's another one I can't get enough of for the same reason.

The ginger one whose first line is "You dirty bitch"? She's Theresa Morton. The Mortons move in to Charlie's house after Tracy kills him. They really didn't take off but they're currently in the middle of a leaving storyline involving Theresa's return (having walked out on the family years before).

    • Thanks. I'm glad we have some fan memories of these years as this is such a typically snide take on the genre. It's also poorly written and reminds me a great deal of the tedious "snark" recaps that became popular in the '90s. The end in particular. The 1979/80 stuff I have seen is much more polished than a number of soaps at the time. It was very easy to watch and not too bogged down in past story.  Margo is played by Ann Williams, who was on what seemed like every soap. I think she said Margo was her favorite role.  These episodes aren't consecutive, but if you ever have time, they are worth a watch. They are bits and pieces from January and April of 1979 - April in and out of prison, her past calling to her via her psychic powers (and the suicide of Miles' wife Denise, who had murder framing in mind). April 1979 has the end of Winter Austen (such a fantastic soap name).  I don't want to drop a ton of links but you can find playlists on Youtube.
    • And the rating 'wars' continue...hehe.
    • Well, it was fun while it lasted for Rebecca Herbst. Le sigh.
    • I am wholeheartedly enjoying this show. I just haven't been able to post as much as I used to. But yes, this episode needs to be submitted for the EMMYs and there needs to be wins. I better NOT see Y&R, DAYS, or B&B winning in categories over BTG. I feel like the only show that is giving BTG an ounce of competition this season is GH.
    • I never thought the day would come, but too much MM for me.
    • I think it may be that the character was brought in for a specific purpose and then became popular with viewers, and the show didn't know how to respond.  The choice to pivot away from Simon/India may show that you are right and they didn't care for her...although pairing them up may be another sign they didn't care for her. I don't connect well with this period but it does make me happy seeing some of these characters before the great purge and some of the surprises - I'd forgotten the wonderful Maureen O'Sullivan popped up to be bumped off. So typical of soaps by this point, but it doesn't grate as much as later on when Y&R would bring on any random cast member from Small Wonder. I'm also amazed at this time at just how much money the show must have had. The costumes for the Founder's celebration in summer 1984, or whatever it was, looked gorgeous.
    • Which officially started to feel that way today with them hearing each other out as they confronted each other at the same time.    Same. He was even catching himself when he was about to go overboard or do those tics that people don't seem to like. He failed a bit at the end, but he carried. It makes me think about a month back when it was discussed that the actor was better in other things he's been in. And I questioned then if that meant that he was playing Martin more intentionally. I questioned that briefly again today because he was giving.
    • I really like the actress who plays Margo. Don't know  her name. I'm so hesitant to google anyone because I don't want to know the length they were on the show. I've watched two episodes and I have to say that the show does not feel as dated as other shows. I tried to watch Ryan's Hope a few weeks back and some of the acting was a bit rough. EON is a lot more natural which amuses me considering it's a mystery/thriller show.
