I know they filmed these months ago but for episodes that are verging on summer I'm surprised at how suffocated and drab the show feels these days. You go from one dingy setting to another and one depressed person to another. As stupid as this sounds I could barely even get through tonight's episode, it was just so damn drab and so many of the characters looked like they were about to go on a rampage. Some of those closeups of Hayley were scary, the look in her eyes. I was just weirded out for almost every scene.

Nick looks so emaciated. I know you have to choose between your body and your face as you age but it's getting to be like Thinner.

I wish they would just put Graeme in a different outfit, even if they are trying to hide a weight gain for Craig Gazey (?).

Was anyone else hoping the constant leaking in the factory would electrocute Sean?

Izzy reminds me so much of someone. I'm not sure who. Amy Irving, perhaps.

I wouldn't mind seeing Jason and Carla get together. He was already with her lookalike 4-5 years ago.

This stuff with the binman is dumb. I also don't know why he'd keep these tickets secret from Carla.

Thanks for posting.

Uh...it looks strange, no? They should just left the people out. It's almost like they're trying to say "See, this street isn't depressing at all! Look at all of the action, all of the business! It's just like Albert Square!" But it's not. At least the title screen looks nice.

I don't love the Vaseline lens stuff. The initial part of the theme is a bit too muffled, more like a "Best of" video than a theme.

After that somewhat shabby shot of the CGI pigeons, the opening gets much better. The title card is stunning and represents what the show should be.

I guess they don't have the cat anymore? :(

The cat's there! It just looks like the poor thing is about to fall to its death because it's going from a higher part of a roof to a lower part, but the lower part really isn't in the frame.

What's going on with the scheduling this week and next? I've pieced together what I've read, and it looks like this:

Monday, May 24 - One episode.

Wednesday, May 26 - One episode.

Thursday, May 27 - One episode.

Friday, May 28 - Two episodes.

Monday, May 31 - Two episodes

Tuesday, June 1 - One episode.

Wednesday, June 2 - One episode.

Thursday, June 3 - One episode.

Friday, June 4 - One episode.

Is that right? Or are they still sneaking Sunday episodes in there?

I know I am being mean but for someone who was cast as a "hunk," I am not sure I can remember more guys being less attractive than Ben Price. I just cannot stand looking at his face.

Not that I have a lot of pity for the Platts (although this story has done David a service), but Tina's continued blind spot about her father does her few favors. Neither do the heavy undertones that Jason just doesn't get her while Graeme does. Yes, the guy who treats her like a broken china doll is her salvation.

The best scene was Eileen and Lloyd arguing and hitting each other with rolled up newspaper.

    • Thanks. I'm glad we have some fan memories of these years as this is such a typically snide take on the genre. It's also poorly written and reminds me a great deal of the tedious "snark" recaps that became popular in the '90s. The end in particular. The 1979/80 stuff I have seen is much more polished than a number of soaps at the time. It was very easy to watch and not too bogged down in past story.  Margo is played by Ann Williams, who was on what seemed like every soap. I think she said Margo was her favorite role.
    • And the rating 'wars' continue...hehe.
    • Well, it was fun while it lasted for Rebecca Herbst. Le sigh.
    • I am wholeheartedly enjoying this show. I just haven't been able to post as much as I used to. But yes, this episode needs to be submitted for the EMMYs and there needs to be wins. I better NOT see Y&R, DAYS, or B&B winning in categories over BTG. I feel like the only show that is giving BTG an ounce of competition this season is GH.
    • I never thought the day would come, but too much MM for me.
    • I think it may be that the character was brought in for a specific purpose and then became popular with viewers, and the show didn't know how to respond.  The choice to pivot away from Simon/India may show that you are right and they didn't care for her...although pairing them up may be another sign they didn't care for her. I don't connect well with this period but it does make me happy seeing some of these characters before the great purge and some of the surprises - I'd forgotten the wonderful Maureen O'Sullivan popped up to be bumped off. So typical of soaps by this point, but it doesn't grate as much as later on when Y&R would bring on any random cast member from Small Wonder. I'm also amazed at this time at just how much money the show must have had. The costumes for the Founder's celebration in summer 1984, or whatever it was, looked gorgeous.
    • Which officially started to feel that way today with them hearing each other out as they confronted each other at the same time.    Same. He was even catching himself when he was about to go overboard or do those tics that people don't seem to like. He failed a bit at the end, but he carried. It makes me think about a month back when it was discussed that the actor was better in other things he's been in. And I questioned then if that meant that he was playing Martin more intentionally. I questioned that briefly again today because he was giving.
    • I really like the actress who plays Margo. Don't know  her name. I'm so hesitant to google anyone because I don't want to know the length they were on the show. I've watched two episodes and I have to say that the show does not feel as dated as other shows. I tried to watch Ryan's Hope a few weeks back and some of the acting was a bit rough. EON is a lot more natural which amuses me considering it's a mystery/thriller show.
    • She’s INCREDIBLE. I’m so glad you enjoyed this my friend.
