Blast From the Past

Long before Passions came along, One Life To Live was Daytime's wildest soap......especially back in the Reagan era, when Viki(Erika Slezak) had an out of body experience during brain surgery and wound up on a space ship to heaven. To celebrate the ABC soap's 40th anniversary next month, OLTL head writer Ron Carlivati will revisit the celestial 1987 plot by having Vicki die........just momentarily of course! "This time, heaven will be a very modern high rise.......Vicki will go up the elevator encountering all sorts of dead characters along the way," said Carlivati. Among the former stars making angelic returns are Phil Carey(Asa), Mark Derwin(Ben), Stephen Markle(Mel), and Jessica Tuck(Megan). OLTL's legendary creator, Agnes Nixon, will also appear in heaven. That's not all. Carlivati will redo the famous 80's plot where Tina(Andrea Evans) survived a plunge over the Iguazu Falls in Argentina, only this time, creepy Carlo(Thom Christopher) will force Tina to watch in horror as he sends her daughter Sarah(Justis Bolding) over a waterfall. Fan favorite John Loprieno will return as Tina's ex-hubby Cord. And remember the time Clint(then Clint Richie) was knocked unconscious and time-traveled to the Wild West? Carlivati will riff on that plot too. "Bo(Robert S. Woods) and Rex(John-Paul Lavoiser) are hit by lightning and wake up in 1968............the same year OLTL hit the air," Carlivati say. The kicker: Bo has become his pop, Asa, and Rex has become the young Bo. All three homages air July 21-22, but the Bo-Rex twist will play out for several weeks, maybe with dire consequences. Say Carlivati: "If they can't find their way back to the future, Rex will be drafted and sent to Vietnam."

SOrry I thought I read it on the same list but now can't find it--it woudl make sense for Tess to come out and hgelp get Jessica's "revenge" on Jared and all but I'm just so sick of Tess, even with a good writer handling it I'm not too excited...

Yeah, i dont think tess is coming out.. But i do think Jess might bring out her inner Tess when she needs to. lol

There is so much to take in here, I do not even know where to start!

JOHN LOPRIENO is back as Cord! John Loprieno and Andrea Evans are going to be back on our screens as Tina and Cord. No recasts, just the ones who made them famous and the ones the fans love the most. Wow. I feel as if I've died and gone to soap heaven! What did I do to deserve this?

MARK DERWIN is back as Ben!!!!! I'm in shock over this too! It's going to be amazing to see Ben and Viki together!

Megan!!! She's coming back too and we're going to see her with Viki!

AGNES NIXON is actually going to be on OLTL, and she will be in scenes with Erika Slezak!

As for the casting of Delphina, does anyone think this will do with her helping Dorian come in contact with a dead Mel. I read he's going to be visiting Dorian, this will be AMAZING. More shades of grey for Dorian Lord!!!!!

I hope we go on location for the waterfall scenes.....

....and the show gets an opening that it deserves!

I haven't watched OLTL for awhile, but I might have to take a peek at this anniversary story, it sounds good.

I would like to see a completely different alter come out...Viki had one for just about every occasion/situation. Jess needs one to come out and kick some ass...she needs an *angry* alter.

Tess was more the party girl like Niki was for Viki..she needs someone like Jeane Randolf to kick some butt & exact revenge....if thats what she wants to do.

Hey once you open the door to one alter, why not a few more? LOL

(not that I think DID is funny for those who suffer from it...but this IS a soap....)

Sounds like a blast. I loved those stories. Yeah, they were wild but they were fun. I especially loved Clint's story in the old west.

Here's a little FYI for everyone.........on July 4th, OLTL will re-air the episode from Friday, May 9th.....where Snoop Dogg performed at Unltra Violet, and Natalie and Jared got it on with their bad selves.

Maybe our gushing is getting annoying. Also, over the years I've harboured a few irrational resentments over the way a certain other ABC soap has a tendencey to dominate some messageboards (not this one, surprisingly). Was it jealousy? Envy? Maybe. I know at times it did turn into sour grapes on my part.

Well TC, I'm going to agree with you. I wont ever say I haven't been jealous of DAYS or GH, because I have always wanted OLTL to be the most talked about. What I will say is that it feels damn good to have my soap as the top dog on the message board.
