I really like the background music on this show, especially the piano pieces. Anyone know who's composing the background music? For some reason, AMC doesn't list them, only the music directors and music supervisor.

Yay! I started an AMC thread. :)

Toups, this is the best I could find. Here's the list of the music team when AMC last won the Emmy in that category for 2005. They're nominated again this year, but the Academy didn't list individual members for any categories. Grr.

So, anyways, I've just been catching up on the shows so far this week and B&E have really been improving (unless there's some other influence in the show's upswing). Jake's return is really being handled well, I love Erica in prison, I love the GhostDixie story, the Hubbards, heck even the Ryan/Annie stuff has been a little more tolerable lately. There's been lots of references to history (I almost died when Dixie played the 'videotape' of flashbacks, that was GREAT), more vets, and most importantly -- I think there's been a LOT of HEART. Real friendships, real touching moments -- more than just rapes and lying about babies (I'm looking at you, Megan). Additionally, I think the latest crop of newbies (Frankie, Colby, Cassie, nuJake) are very strong (I really like the new Colby, although I wasn't a big Ambry Childers fan). Well done -- whoever the hell is responsible.

I am sure Nixon has influence on the show and we will find out soon (or hopefully) that we have a new head writer or writers. I like Jake's return so far and Erica in prison is fun. Ghost Dixie/Adam is just a hoot, given the history of how he drove her crazy to commit her to a psych ward to get JR, anything Jesse/Angie is great, I cannot get into Ryan/Annie love scenes but that could be because of my hate for his holiness ;)....I loved the tape of DIxie flashbacks. Anytime they do a nod to history, I like it. The vets are coming out more...we should be seeing more of Opal next week and possibly tomorrow or Friday. The friendship that is brewing now between Aidan/Jake/Frankie is just wonderful to watch. I am liking newbies as well, like Frankie, Cassandra, Rob, Dre, and Samuel...oh and Ritchie ;)

Yeah, I have that old list. I'm looking for the latest updates - I wonder why AMC doesn't list the composers.

I'm so mad about the emmys not listing the didn't list individual members for any categories too!! As a person who keeps track of behind the scenes details, I really need it! :(

Yup! That's what I've noticed this past week. There's been some really well written/acted scenes and that is what's attracting me to AMC.

    • If NBC could have for seen the ratings of Lovers & Friends (the replacement for Somerset).. they would have for sure kept Somerset on the air longer. https://jason47.com/days/ratings1976.html  (ratings for Somerset in the final year) https://jason47.com/days/ratings1977.html (ratings for Lovers & Friends short run...getting as low as a 2 rating).

    • I liked them, too, and was really disappointed it never went anywhere. The whole art theft story was ridiculous, but they had a nice chemistry. Certainly nicer than Alan with Christine. With her, he looked like the funny uncle. The worst thing they did to Bolger, IMO, was having Phillip write that DREADFUL novel and dramatizing it while he wrote it. GAG, that has to be in the running for one of their worst storylines that didn't involve wacky things like clones or time travel. Soaps rarely do school storylines, or don't do them for very long. Not the case so much in the early days of soaps, but after GH took off in the late 70s other soaps took their lead and would catapult teens/young adults into adult stories right away. That's one reason Phillip and Mindy ended up with so many ex-spouses--they started getting married really young. They shipped Dina and Cameron off really fast after high school and stuck Alan Michael in a marriage storyline with Harley. Did he EVER go to college? I don't think so. It may also partly explain why Quint and Annabelle had to go, beyond TPTB wanting to do a cast sweep. Teaching is not a profession that plays well on a soap. Quint definitely had to quit being Indiana Jones, because that wore thin really fast, but they didn't do him favors by making him a professor. If they wanted to keep him, they should have done what they did with Amanda (who was in another dead-end soap job, concert pianist)--have him work at Spaulding as one of the major stockholders.
    • Judith McConnell (Augusta) and Denise Alexander (Lesley) were great screen partners on GH.  They got into some stellar arguments in character in the medicine room.
    • He also commented that Brad knows that fans are sick of the constant fake deaths on this show: Finn, Sheila, etc and that it's hard to take this seriously if it's another fake death

    • I just don't think Brad Bell has it in him to actually kill off Liam. He should have killed off Eric when he had the chance. I know John McCook is an original cast member, but Eric is even more useless than Liam. Eric should have died and then it would be revealed that he died without a valid will, so Donna, as his wife, inherits everything, including his shares in Forrester Creations.
    • I think we all will, isn't that how soaps work? lol
    • ^^ I'll believe it when it actually happens.
