Talking about Antonio Sabato Jr. on the classic GH thread led me to discover two things: A, he has a son with Virginia Madsen, and B, Virginia's only two weeks older than Heather Locklear. I initially questioned the age gap between Antonio and Heather (11 years), and that Jack would have apparently been roughly 18 when he and Amanda were married, but if the May-August relationship was plausible for real life ...

But weren't they supposed to be the same age? Highschool sweethearts or something? It's been a while since I have watched to be fair.

Oof, in that case, they really should have cast a different actor.

Probably. I believe the show said Amanda faked her death and they were separated for several years so I assumed they were similar in age on paper.

Didn't they also claim Rena Sofer and Heather Locklear were the same age?

What I remember about that story was the idea of giving Amanda a past that explained some of her behavior was a good idea on paper, but not what the audience wanted or the kind of show Melrose had become. Every time they tried to sympathy soften Amanda it was truncated because the audience wanted her strong and mean.

Like the cancer story (did she make out with Michael in a hot tub or with someone in a hot tub or am I just completely mixing up shows and storylines).

She did, and Kimberly tried to electrocute them.

I didn't mind the Amanda/Eve story (from the famed KL Peter Dunne team, no less). I minded that it went on too long without kicking into high gear. Eve was clearly off from the start, but they still played her as a heroine and she didn't lose her mind til the very end of the season and we had to watch too much of Peter/Eve together when it was clear Amanda and Peter reuniting was blessedly the endgame. (I do think Kyle's slow disintegration and the collapse of his and Amanda's needless marriage was well done though)

They really gave Amanda Woodward the John Black treatment of convoluted back stories that changed.

Surely, if Palmer Woodward was this well-known business man turned convict on the run, and Amanda was doing her thang as president of D&D, Jagger could've found out Amanda was alive and well long before Brooke did her lil visit.

I think Eve was probably meant to be a longer term character had the show been renewed for an 8th season.. but when the show decided to end things after 7 seasons.. they had to do a fast finish to her arc and she became unhinged too quickly.

Same thing about Alexandra Paul's character... that had the character do a sudden change of face right after she hit on Kyle's brother and tried to kidnap his daughter, almost getting them killed.

They did, yes. But tbf I thought both the Eve and Alexandra Paul stories were too slow by that point (the AP story was downright dull). They should've amped up Eve's villainy earlier. Of course I haven't watched S7 in decades so maybe it had a bit more build than I remember.

I also never forgot that Ryan's little daughter(?), Chea Courtney, went from MP to being the original 'Little Angel Girl' on Passions maybe months later. That tripped me out as a teen.
