So they hike up the prices and the day is a washout. Do they get a refund? All the money lost....serves them right. I hate this tournament. Never understood why it's a 1000 event. The courts are small and ugly with no roofs and the Italian fans are awful.

Tennis as a sport is an unqualified mess.  They've got to do better.  Climate change is not going away, in fact, the weather appears to get more extreme every season.

I realize that these tournament organizers want to emphasize the aspect of tennis as an outdoor sport but as long as they expect spectators and fans to travel far and wide to patronize these tournaments, they all need to make better preparations for inclement weather.

I saw the scheduling earlier and it's ridiculous. It is very unfair to those in the second round since a few are already in the 3rd round with a day off. Why don't they just have a night men's and women's final on Sunday or a Monday final?  This schedule is horrible.

That's why I love Madrid. They have 3 courts with roofs. Notice how it rarely rains there and when it does the roofs are closed. The organizers of the Italian Open are so behind. They have the worst weather. It rains almost every year during that tournament. You'd think they'd build some roofs....crazy....

BTW...Grigor took a WC in qualifying to next week's Geneva tourney.......wow...Grigor playing qualifying....his ranking is close to dropping out of the top 50....he is currently at #46.

Madrid wasn't that bad this year, but in previous years, they've sucked too, LOL!  Their scheduling has also known to be a sexist mess.  Perhaps with Feliciano as tournament director, this can change.

These tournaments act like they're Challengers.  With the rates they charge on some tickets, they should be able to afford to put a roof on at least one court.  The clay court tournaments seem the most resistant to change.  In the past, they had a few sprinkles and it didn't stop play for long (if at all) but now they are getting washouts, yet still seem not to want to accept this.

Kristian Alfonso was a popular daytime star from a show popular with a younger audience that was brought on to an aging primetime soap with the expectation that their huge daytime following would carry over. I don't think she has spoken much about her time on Falcon Crest despite being the show's new pet that became front-burner lead right away. I also don't believe she was hired on the cheap given her daytime popularity and following.  Notice how most of the former daytime actors and actresses that were on the CBS primetime soaps were from ABC or NBC. CBS had so much of their own daytime talent they could have used on their primetime soaps but for whatever reason that didn't happen and I think demographics played a part in that (CBS daytime skewing older than ABC/NBC).
    • Has anyone read Sharon Gabet's memoir? Is it worth reading?
    • Would that ad even appeal to people who watched Falcon Crest at any point? By that point, did anyone really care about the show? I remember people loathing the last season and especially hating Alfonso's character.
    • Thanks @kalbir

    • True enough, and Tony and Annabelle suffer the same problem. And the people Quint and Nola had interacted with were gone--Kelly, Morgan, Helena, Mrs Renfield---even Van's been transplanted to the Lewis enclave. Nola's curiosity could've been used somehow, but after Reva's arrival it seems like Long is obsessed with selling that woman to the audience.  As originally written--no, the Chamberlains weren't stockholders anymore. At least not to my understanding. But any story where Quint and Vanessa teamed up, realizing that Alex had played them, and found some loophole to get back in to restore Henry's legacy would've been welcome. As much as I like India--Spaulding gets weird in '85 with Alex, Phillip, India and Warren fighting amongst themselves.
