ALL: Unpopular opinions

LOL, that's how I used to feel about Y&R's red porno theme. But I've always loved the old-style soap openings to most of the ones on nowadays. Like the GH and AMC themes of the early-mid-1990s. Best theme ever = Santa Barbara.

Oh, I just thought of one other unpopular opinion. I despise Jill Farren Phelps and some of the decisions she has made to hire/fire people. I hate all decisions made out of personal politics without taking into consideration what the audience wants or needs (on GH, Genie Francis's firing springs to mind, or the fact that we got Courtney rammed down our throats for YEARS). However, her dark, creative vision for some of the shows she worked on was at times spot-on. If she didn't keep hiring/firing on impulse just because she thinks somebody is fat or pregnant, then I think she'd be a good EP. *runs away to hide*

 Andy, We never seem to agree on anything haha

A Few more....

I lobsterlove Christina Chambers as Marty on OLTL

I loved the Haunted Castle/Scotland story on ATWT. I was flipping channels and saw this beautful goddess (Napiera Danielle Groves) I was hoked instantly and will forever love Bonnie McKechnie

I liked McKenzie Satterthwaite's Nikki Munson

Julie Pinson is a far better Billie than Lisa or Krista

Frank Parker grates my nerves with his constant laughing. "Caroline made you some special chowder Bo HAHA HE HEE HOHO" *cringes*

I totally agree with everyone of them. As to the first one. I think Robin Strasser is a great actress for what she does, but find her very one note. She is more than just type cast as a villian, I just don't think she could ever play a softer side very well at all. She just don't seem to have it in her.

A couple more I thought of:

- I disagree with anyone who thinks that Days opening needs modern day sparks at all. It is classic - leave it alone.

- I think Gary Tomlin is a better producer than he gets credit for.

- I think Ken Corday has no talent at all. He did not inherit the talent of his dad or mother.

- I don't think the characters of Mickey & Shawn Sr. should be killed on Days like the majority do. I think they need to be featured more. I do want to see Caroline finally give into her lust and feelings for Victor and see an over 60 triangle on the show. I want to see Mickey & Maggie in a lead story too.

- On Days, I want to see Maggie have an affair with Abe.

- I like the pairing of Korbel & Colleen on Y&R even more than Colleen and JT

- I hate the made up couple names (Lumi, Zendall, etc.) even though they are cute

- On AMC, I don't buy Zach & Kendall as a couple. They have no chemistry

- On AMC, I don't see Cady McClain's return as a bad one. I think it took a bad detour, but Cady is back where she belongs.

- I don't want Eileen Davidson on Days - I would prefer her go to As The World Turns as a new Sierra

- I hate Todd & Blair as a couple on OLTL, but don't like Todd & Evangeline either.

- A final one for Days: And this is probably the most unpopular of all. I see Hogan copying his pattern of writing from ATWT. He is not copying stories completely but he is following the same pattern. He is writing so many characters the same way: Sami is his version of Carly straight from tying her to EJ who is his version of Craig - many of us thought from his description of her as comic relief she would be his Katie, but that honor goes to Mimi who is turning out to be another version of the Katie character to me; Victor/Kate/Roman are his versions of James/Barbara/Hal; the writing is on the wall for Philip to be his version of Paul when Roger Howarth took over

- I actually like the Carmen Mesta murder mystery on Y&R

- I was disappointed in some ways with the Stephanie story on B&B. Betty White was great but the writing could have been better

- ON B&B, I too think Felicia should have died

Here our a few more from me

1. I"d take Julia Barr over Susan Lucci anyday

2. I never did understand the hoopla over BRooke and Ridge to me they have no chemistry. I really loved Brooke and Thorne together.

3. I hate the fact the GH has to pull sweeps stunts just to lure a viewer back in.

4. I'd love to put Maurice Bernard, Eric Bradeon and few other loud mouthed actors on a Rocket and launch into space.

5. I hate Maurice Bernard

6. GH needs to be less mob oriented and stop focusing on the same 10 characters al the time.

lol I feel the same way. Julie is just awesome as Billie. She plays the vulnerable and emotional (sad, upset, happy) Billie so well! I'm really glad Lisa didn't came back, so Julie could get a chance here. IMO she's a perfect mix between Lisa and Krista's Billie too. Lisa played the nicer Billie (the first time around anyway), and Krista was more on the bad side.

LOL! That twangy roh-rah-rah-RAH rock guitar massacring Nadia's theme literally made me shudder. And the way that red silk used to fake-shimmer in the wind like jello on a plate. And how all the characters used to look like badly-scissored cardboard cut-outs in front of all that red. Although I did love the poses. ESPECIALLY Jess Walton's. Especially when she had Big Hair.

LOL, does anyone remember the one where Victor used to clap his boxing gloves together? That always made me LMAO.

ITA except for me those couple names aren't cute they are annoying and sometimes I don't even know who is being talked about.

I have no interest in Zendall and I don't really buy them as a couple. I think they are extremely overrated. I thought Zach's best chemistry was with Maria and Kendall had better chemistry with JR, Ryan, Aidan, Ethan, etc.

I agree that Cady is back home on AMC. The main reason I'm watching AMC is to see Dixie and Tad reunite with one another and Kate.

Also:

ATWT is so bad that I quit watching a couple of days before Christmas after almost 5 years of viewing. My Mom quit watching GH this week and I'm about to join her (I can't stand these stupid baby stories with Elizabeth and Maxie ... or much of anything else).

1. I love Sharon Case and her character

2. The Reliquary story is ok. Nothing all that good or bad.

3. Hate AH as Victoria.

4. Not so fond of Luckenbill

5. Love the haunting of Katherine story, the Mesta murder story and the Shelia/Phyliss story.

6. Not so fond of Kevin, Michael or Gloria.

7. Ashley grates as does Nick.

8. TSJ isn't that great of an actor.

9. OLTL currently has one of the worst casts in daytime especially with the sidelining and firing of their best.

10. HT was the best under 40 actress the show had.

11. DH has been bad from day 1.

I'll arrange my opinions for every soap I watch seperately:

ATWT:

1. I like Craig. HB's Craig had a better sense of humour, but I also like JM's portrayal of Craig.

2. They need to get rid of Gwen, Emily and Dusty.

B&B:

1. Amber needs to return and hook up with Thomas again.

2. There's really no need for Rick's return. Who are they gonna pair him with, that is not related. maybe Jackie :P

3. Brooke and Ridge need to be murdered on Valentine's day in their bedroom, launching a new murder mystery.

4. Stephanie needs to stop meddling with her kids.

5. Eric and Bridget need to grow a backbone.

Y&R:

1. Jack needs to win over Victor. At least let him keep Jabot and reveal that Summer is really Jack's daughter :lol:

2. Gloria needs to be exposed for the 'facial cream mess'

3. The relinquary storyline could still work. check my other thread on this forum about it. comments are very welcome http://boards.soapoperanetwork.com/index.php?showtopic=14333

4. Colleen and Adrian are a great match. Colleen should get rid of JT, so they can pair him up with Victoria.

5. I like Amelia Heinle as Victoria.

6. Victor should quit wanting to control everyone.

7. Nikki should drop that "I'm hollier-than-thou" attitude

8. I'll miss Ashley

DOOL:

1. I want Tony to return.

2. I want Cassie and Rex back, but they must be Tony's kids

3. Get rid of Roman, Bonnie, Patrick, Mimi, Shawn Sr, and Tek.

GH:

1. Killing off Stavros and Stefan was a big mistake.

2. Nikolas is a wimp

3. Helena is a hoot

4. Ric should just drop dead

5. Pair Milo and Lulu

6. Liz's baby should be Jason's

7. Jax and Sam should hook up again

8. Carly and Sonny should reunite

I'll give one that's going to be unpopular.

I think Ellen Wheeler is a good EP.

**tumbleweed**

Seriously, given the pressure she is under from P&G/Televest (blame them for the Bauers not being front and centre) and the miniscule budget she's managed to keep the show going amazingly well. Okay there are things I don't like (Reva's breast cancer cure, superhero Harley, once a month Blake) but the show's got a lot of heart. And for the record I think this "Find Your Light" campaign is an excellent hook.

:o:angry: Oh helllllls to the no. Santa Barbara was far and away the best soap opera of all-time IMO. I consider it one of the greatest shows on television ever, daytime or primetime. 'SB' set a bar that no other soap was able to or has been able to hit since it's premiere and exodus.

Some more of mine:

1. I don't care for Erika Slezak or Viki. Never have, never will. Always root for Dorian.

2. Jensen Buchanan was miscast as Vicky/Marley on AW and forever destroyed the characters.

3. Brooke belongs with Thorne and until they re-pair them, I can't get into B&B like I used to. It's like they showed me how good it could be and then poof! It all disappeared in an instant.

4. Marlena's posession storyline started off good but sucked for the most part. Father Francis was the bast part.

5. Kimberlin Brown's acting left something to be desired on her last Y&R stint. Tracey Bregman & Roscoe Born consistently upstaged her.

6. I don't care for Kim Zimmer's brand of acting.

7. Susan Flannery is the best actress in all of daytime.

8. AW was very good if not excellent in its final year on the air.

9. I've always liked Sharon Newman and Sharon Case.

10. I like LML's work far better than Jack Smith's, even if Y&R is uneven. Maybe it's because I don't care for the Baldwin brothers.

11. I don't like Kevin and think Greg Rikaart is overrated.

12. Brenda Epperson is the true Ashley Abbott.

13. I prefer Victor/Ashley to Victor/Nikki

14. I like Grayson McCouch as Dusty Donovan.

15. Mark Collier is a good actor.

16. I love Matie prolly a little more than I love Skatie.

17. I think Ellen Wheeler is a good executive producer. JamesF, you're not alone! :D

    • I do think there's room for optimism, especially with Amazon making enough new episodes to last until December. There's still time for the various players to get their ducks in a row. Guess we'll know soon enough!
    • I do agree it's better to just have people pop back into town. I never understood why Roger needed a mask on an island, when neither Fletcher or Alex would've known who he was. And the vine...sigh. Couldn't he have just been sent crashing through a window or something?
    • When the announcement was first made, I did wonder if other plans were in the works. I guess we can always keep hoping, especially as the show has a small core cast.
    • @chrismlAbout Lisa, agree to disagree. Actually at the time she was the only thing my partner & I disagreed about. Naturally she was Team Vicky while I was steadfast as Team Lisa.  About John & twin paternity, I think that like the 3 pillows was a transitory idea someone had that no one else agreed with. More of the attempt to accommodate Philece. About MJ, co-sign, 100% agree, if there were more degrees I would claim them. About Wally & Felicia, always a fan. Mitch? Eh, take or leave. Although I do agree that WGE is a really striking man. Who have I left out? I don't know so that's all I got.

    • Dallas peaked early, IMO. Maybe not a fair statement as I’m still making my way through the first half of its run, but I think it’s hard to argue to point that S3 into S4 was its high point. Back to Knots. Wrapping up “And Never Brought to Mind.” Greg’s introduction kinda took me by surprise. I low-key dreaded his arrival bc I know he very quickly gets to the center of the show, but even though they wasted no time connecting him with Mac, Abby, Gary, and Karen, it still feels like a gradual intro. The juxtaposition of the ending of the Chip story with the heating up Abby’s plotting is quite symbolic of the changes the show was going through. I absolutely cannot imagine Kenny and Ginger having any part in any of this. Yall, the Gary/Val piano theme that they pull out from time to time is my FAVORITE. I find myself humming it constantly.
    • Bloodshed is inevitable now. It’s another reason I’m glad Black people aren’t getting involved in these protests. As awful as this is, I keep reminding myself that 54 percent of Latino men voted for Trump. These people were put in harm’s way by members of their own communities and sometimes even members of their own families. Too many people decided to touch the stove.
    • Maybe I'm still in denial, but nothing about Neighbours' ongoing social media output gives the vibe of a show that's ending. In today's 'Roundup' video, Alan Fletcher referenced that production finishes in five weeks, but in all the show's posts the cast are as jovial and lighthearted as ever. Remarkably so for people who are about to lose their jobs.    Perhaps they're just putting a brave face on things, and I know they approached the previous axing with a positive attitude. Maybe putting an upbeat face on things is a collective way of showing potential backers that there's still life in the show? Or is it possible that they already know the show has been saved, and we'll get an announcement next month when filming wraps and the show 'rests'?   Does any of that make sense?!
    • A very good week for male eye candy on GH. New Michael is beautiful, Curtis's arms looked great in that polo shirt, Cody looks even more handsome with his new haircut AND we got Marco in swim shorts rocking his lovely bod and chest fur.

    • Yeah when Jamey Giddens did breakdowns for DAYS, he would sometimes state in tweets that specific things were his idea that he had pitched to Ron.
