DAYS: No longer one day ahead in Canada

Days is pre-empted in Canada today (Dec. 29th). As of Monday, January 1, all airdates will be both Canadian and American. I think that is a really good thing because there wont be as much "day ahead spoilers" as before which I think ruined it for the show a little bit.

But Early Edition is out with a new episode (Monday's US episode)... so what's going on...?

Don't know. I got the info from a friend in Canada. There's suppose to be a new licensing agreement between Sony & the Cdn which will result in ending the day ahead episode.

Bev also has her day-ahead preview up at marlena.com, although she was confused, thinking they skipped an episode.

Hmm, this is weird.

Prevuze is up too. I wrote Global (as I'm sure many have) to ask about the rumor of no more day ahead episodes. This was the response I received:

Thank you for your email and your interest in our programming. Please

be advised that this rumor is not true. "Passions" and "The Young and

The Restless" will follow the same broadcast schedule in the New Year

as they have in the past.

Thank you for watching Global Television.

I didn't ask about DAYS because DAYS isn't a day ahead where I live, but if people got the day ahead episode, I guess they're still airing it. I guess it's possible that this is the last day they air the day ahead for DAYS and beginning next week they'll be on the same schedule as NBC.

I asked my friend about Early Edition and this is the respons i got:

No. EE gets the satellite feed that goes to the Cdn network. The episode normally airs hours later, and today it won't be aired. Under the licensing contract Sony provides the feed for day ahead episodes. We're not through 2006 yet, so the feed still came. The show won't actually air in Canada until Monday; the same day that it airs in the U.S. I expect that there will be no satellite feed on Monday.

If you watch my Lumi clips for Dec. 29th you'll see a scroll in one of the EJ scenes that says 'Days of our Lives will not be airing on Friday December 29, but will return on Monday January 1."

btw, the satellite feed normally arrives around 6am. The show doesn't air until 1pm.

Global Edmonton has pre-empted both DAYS & Y&R today. Passions & ATWT is still on but they aren't a day ahead.

This is all so confusing.

The US stations where I live aren't airing ATWT or Guiding Light (but they are airing B&B and Y&R) so Global isn't airing ATWT in my area or on the timeshift channels I have. I wonder if some of the US will be getting ATWT and Guiding Light. I don't have Global Edmonton...I've got Global Calgary and they're airing Gilmore Girls instead of ATWT and the Passions that's airing in the US today . But Guiding Light is listed as airing on CH at 3 and some timeshift channel at 5pm (Channel 123). That could be a mistake. but I'll be tuning in just in case. And I'll be tuning in for day ahead Passions in case the pre-emption was a listings mistake too.

The guides are making a mistake because I was getting ready to tape Y&R last night at 4:30 on Global (Toronto) and it listed Gilmore Girls instead...I set the timer anyway and checked at 4:30 and Y&R was on! I think Global is just confused about the damn holiday pre-emptions!

Y&R is not on January 1st, so Canadians won't get any new episodes on Global/NTV today.

DAYS should air today and Monday on all Global/NTV unless the end of "DAYS" ahead is true.

The above post assured that PSNS will continue day ahead on Global.

ATWT & GL are pre-empted today. If you tape B&B in the west, don't tape it on CBS; tape it on CTV instead (CBS West is pre-empting it).

All ABC soaps will air today (Friday) but not on Monday. CTV airs GH while the A-Channel's air AMC & OLTL.

I'm happy. :D

If this is true, which it seems it is, I am happy too.

Days doesn't always air a day ahead in Canada. When I had satellite, I could pick up Days from various cities in Canada like Edmonton, St. John, and Vancouver, and some of those stations would be a day ahead. But I'm in the Toronto area, and Days has consistently aired the same day as the US here (except for a few months in 2001 when they were experimenting with a new timeslot). So this doesn't affect me. But thank God Passions will remain a day ahead, or I'd be pissed!!!!

The day ahead for DAYS is on right now on Global Central (Edmonton). Even though "Gilmore Girls" is listed in the guide. SO CONFUSING!
