December 11, 200619 yr Member Really, overall it's one Sheffer can submit as the "mix" episode Emmy wise if he throws in a just-action one with it. It had romantic, sweet moments for four big couples. The three supercouples, and another popular one. ITA with you, Pest Spray. I mentioned it in the Friday thread, but I thought that we should talk about it more in today's thread, but I have no doubt that this episode will be one of the episodes that HS picks for his Emmy reels. When I read the prevuze/EE on Friday, I took note that the show was balanced b/w suspenseful scenes (J&M), heavy drama (S&K), anger (Belle, Shawn, Willow) humor (Chelsea, Abby, Nick, Billie) and tenderness (Bo/Claire, Bo/Hope). The show had a little bit of everything in there. From what I can tell of the other reels that HS has submitted to the Emmy panel (I'm thinking the 2003 reel in particular), having the mixture of all those different types of scenes is a winning combination for the Academy.... I think my favorite scenes were Bo singing to Claire, the last Billie/Chelsea scene, the last Steve/Kayla scene, the J&M crypt scene when they almost got caught, Belle/Shawn's little talk and Hope's concern for Bo when they both were sitting on the couch. Very, very good show. 2 thumbs up....
December 11, 200619 yr Member I just finished the episode and loved it...What a great show for the supercouples...and i agree there was the right mix of everything that makes soaps enjoyable.. John and Marlena--Spying and lovemaking are two things fans have been begging for, and we got them both today..the spy scenes reminded me of spy school back when they were investigating tony...Great stuff Patch and Kayla--Wow, very powerful stuff..Mary Beth and Stephen were excellent today...so glad his memory is back, now the story can move on.. Bo and Hope--nice scenes..and i loved the stuff with Claire.. Shawn and Belle--Jason and Kirsten pale in comparison..Brandon and Martha are what its all about..I love shelle now..and was so excited when shawn told belle he loved here.. Abby, Chelsea, Nick, Billie--i thought these scenes were cute...i'm becoming a nick and chelsea fan very quickly..and i'm loving this lonely splicer storyline..
December 11, 200619 yr Member LOVED the whole show today. Bo/Hope were great! The kids, Abby, Nick, Chelsea were cute. Shawn and Belle were even ok. Steve and Kayla Just Brilliant! MBE and SN = Emmy's.
December 12, 200619 yr Member Of course, the day belonged to S&K and B&H. Two of our beloved supercouples making huge strides to be what we know they can be. Hope holding back the truth of going off with "Lockhart" ruined their otherwise great day together. Wonder why she made the huge reference to the baby being so active, today? Bo called her a girl, but I don't remember the show actually showing that they learned she is a girl. Bo's been referring to the little one as "she" for quite some time now. I think he first started back when they were on the Fancy Face III and he served Hope breakfast (a muffin and he had that crusty old slice of pizza). I don't think that either one knows what the sex of the baby is. It's just a hunch on Bo's part. Also want to give kudos to Sophia Landon Grier for her script today. It's probably one of the last scripts that we'll see from her before she leaves Days. Just wanted to give her her due now that she's practically gone....
December 12, 200619 yr Member No doubt about it - this was an incredible episode! My favorite part was definitely watching Bo singing to Claire. Every since Claire's true paternity has been revealed, I don't think we've ever seen her spend time with her Brady grandparents. It was amazing seeing Shawn finally come to his senses and reach out to Belle. I'm looking forward to Chelsea falling for Nick. They are so perfect for one another, and I think she will develop strong feelings for him even before she finds out that he is Lonely Splicer. On a side note, I must say, it's amazing how fast-paced the show is now. I can no longer afford to miss even a single episode and know exactly what's going on!
December 12, 200619 yr Member Also want to give kudos to Sophia Landon Grier for her script today. It's probably one of the last scripts that we'll see from her before she leaves Days. Just wanted to give her her due now that she's practically gone.... *POUTS* Cannot believe that... she's one of Days finest. Hell, she IS Days finest! I'd like to see Days air one of her scripts one day, and then airing the same episode over again but written by someone else... just to see the difference in what it makes to have a different scriptwriter. I'm sure the change would be enormous, no? It'd be a very interesting trial.
December 12, 200619 yr Member Amazing...wow. I can see this as a good emmy submission for sure. It was a nice blend of everything. I remember on ATWT how Hogan used to submit shows like this. It was really awesome and like one of those classic supercouple shows we used to get. J&M were awesome. I loved Marlena in black leather and these scenes reminded me of the spy school stuff, which I loved. The crypt scenes were great and John writing the message on the wall kind of gave the feeling of upping the ante in the war. Finally, they got a love scene too. Excellent. The teens were good. The Chelsea story is hilarious and I like that they have Billie in on it. It was great to have these scenes thrown in here so that there was a good mix. The real Bo and Hope were back. Hope is her old self again and I liked the explanation for why she thought the way she did. Bo singing to Claire and his talk with Hope about Patrick were nice. Hope/Belle was nice too. I don't want Shelle together yet but Martha and Brandon sizzle. It makes it hard not to want them together. Love the Willow scenes (I felt she did a good job today shockingly ) and the end scenes with Shelle were awesome. Steve and Kayla were the best for me. Wow...these scenes were excellent. Everything I could dream of and more. MBE and SN brought the magic back. The true Steve and Kayla returned today. That love scene was hot and all the history mentions-wow. Perfect show for me. I hope the stuff about SLG isn't true because she showed her talent in today's episode. She was awesome writing today's show. Hogan has hit his stride now. The whole show today moved fast and everything felt like it had a good flow. The stories are moving now. It's like this is sweeps
December 12, 200619 yr Member Did anyone notice that when Abby tried to take the fork away from Nick, some of his tiramisu was flung toward Chelsea and went down her shirt? She started to laugh, then quickly looked down and covered her face. Abby started to smile, then stopped herself and continued in the scene. I don't think that was in the script. LOL!
December 12, 200619 yr Member I really liked Monday's show, and most everything that I thought has been said already..... The only thing that bothered me just a tad was MBE's hair......It's not just MBE, but anyone (male or female) that lightens their dark hair to a light blonde shade like that; I just have one request...... KEEP YOUR ROOTS DONE!
December 12, 200619 yr Member I can't believe that nobody's referenced the best part of the entire episode... THE FADE TO BLACK ENDING!
December 12, 200619 yr Member GG - I can't agree there. Both as an actor and as someone who has seen it. Nichols has been rising above his material for MONTHS. I want to see greatness in Mary Beth. I just...don't. And I look real hard, I promise, lol. Wow -- it's amazing to me how differently people can see things. I've always thought Mary Beth was a phenomenal actress, and as an occassional actor myself, I can say she's only gotten better in her time away from DAYS. She has a sincere, honest and natural approach that is just not seen everyday, certainly not on daytime. I think her acting is subtle and understated, and maybe that's why some people have trouble seeing it -- especially since her character's personality is easily overshadowed by loud, boisterous Steve. But, IMO, she is the best that daytime has to offer. Combine that with the fact that she and Stephen have a very obvious and unique chemistry, and well...I could watch her all day long.
December 12, 200619 yr Member I'm not sure where to start. Stunned, amazed, blown away. I'll be back with more coherent stuff later Weren't they great!! (and I love your banner!!)
December 12, 200619 yr Member Great way to start off the week, I still wonder if this suppose to be a Friday episode though due to earlier pre-emptions. This is the first time I have been impressed with MBE. When she started crying and then went into Steve's arms I could just feel her pain. These scenes were fantastic and as always Nichols shined. I am looking forward to their story for the very first time since they have returned to the show. I just wish Jack was around to help celebrate having his memories back. I wish it happened sooner, but I was cheering when Bo was telling Hope I am outta here if you don't trust the man you have known for 20+ years. I want to see Hope beg a lot more, but for now it was great to hear her say she believed Bo over Patty Cakes. I had to laugh though, everytime Belle needs her mom she is never around. Don't get me wrong I liked Hope and Belle's talk about Shawn, Shelle's past, and Claire, but Marlena is rarely around when she needs her even though its not her fault in most cases. Bo singing to Claire was so sweet, I can't wait until Bo and Hope find out that baby Hope is carrying is theirs! Nick/Chelsea/Billie/Abby scenes were fun and simple. So far I am liking this Lonely Splycer(sp?) SL and where it seems to be headed. I just hope it doesnt start to dominate the show in any way and enjoy in small doses. J&M scenes were just great, you can just tell Drake and Dee adore each other and are so comfortable with other. I havent liked J&M this much in years. Personally I thought Shawn telling Belle he loved her was a little much, but anything to get rid of WillowTree is fine by me. Although I have to admit Anne Burgerwhatever is starting to grow on me.
