Best show GH? WTF?! It was so bad ALL YEAR (minus L&L) they have NO clue what they're talking about. Really.

At least they got the worst couple of Sonny/Emily right.

GH gets Best Soap?

Just another reason why I haven't brought a SOD since 2004.

Seriously. SOD's opinion is about as valid as ours are. My opinion is the only one I care about anymore.

As much as I love LUMI and can see why they would be named, thinking about it more I wonder why they were. I mean they barely had any notable scenes together this year up until recently. Bope shouldn't get it either. If they had reunited, maybe but they didn't. J&J could've been but they were apart most of the year. Steve/Kayla maybe could've got it if the recent stuff happened earlier. If any Days couples should've got it, it should've been J&M. They had some romance and happiness so I would say them but whatever.

SOD gets worst with these every year. I mean it's pretty bad when some of the choices aren't even right for the categories (Carrie/Austin returning in 2005 on Days, Julian on Passions, etc.).

None of the DAYS couples should've been picked.

Oh, in a way Drew I agree. I just don't know who I would put in there and that is why I went into all the Days couples. I can't think of anyone else to put in there that really warrants being there this year.

Some are saying that Austin and Carrie should have not been chosen for Worst Return because it was 2005. I agree that it was 2005, but they returned after the Best/Worst for 2005 were chosen. I can't remember their exact time frame that they base them on, but it is either from November to October or December to November. Austin returned at the end of November I think, and I know Carrie's first airdate was December 5, 2005. So they were eligible in this time frame. As much as I love both of them their return was terrible. Of course they were in good competition this year, because several returns were bad.

As to another disputed award Best New Character. I love Patrick on GH, but I too love EJ on Days, but as much as I love EJ I think Days status hurt EJ. Poor EJ has been the victim of the writing turnovers more than anyone.

EJ was created by JER for what real reason we will never know since he walked out before he had time to develop the character. EJ was introduced by the "ghost writer" as a sexy devilish character with a devilish grin that melted many people's hearts and caused them to fall in love with him. He was a very different character then. At this point, even according to Hogan it was not even sure that EJ would even be involved with the Gloved Hand thing. Hogan even said it was supposed to be someone else, I think he even mentioned Jan.

Then Beth Milstein came on and she started changing EJ a little because it was known then that EJ was behind it.

Then Hogan came on, and EJ really changed. The EJ that I see now (I still love) but there is nothing left of the EJ we saw when he first came on. He is more evil and sinister now, and I don't see any of that playfulness that I saw when he first came on. In fact I for one miss that part of EJ, but do like evil EJ.

I think that is what probably hurt EJ in the running for New Character. His character was not fully defined until now, and he is completely different to me than the character he was in the beginning.

I love Evil EJ

Here is the thing I don't understand. I still have SOD's 2005 Best and Worst and they had Days as having the Best Returns. They didn't have a specific character or couple but they said Days in general with Wayne Northrup, Austin Peck, Billy Warlock, and Christie Clark had the best returns in 2005. So, the question is, why would they put Peck and Clark in with the best return and then turn around this year and make them worst? (which they deserved but still) They should've never even put CC in with Wayne and Billy in best return last year because CC didn't return until December and the issue came out then. Peck's first few months without Carrie were actually ok so I understood why they put him in there last year. I think they gave Days Best Returns last year because they were bringing back beloved faces so they were more recognizing the idea rather then the stories. SOD jumps the gun way too much on things like this.

Oh, Steve, Peck returned in September 2005 during LUMI's wedding. :)

Oh and that had nothing to do with why EJ didn't win. I think what hurt EJ is he was only on half a year and Patrick had a full year so he had a larger impact. EJ never really came into his own as a character until the last few months.

Thanks for correcting me on Austin's return. I could not find the exact date on him.

I think last year that SOD was probably rewarding Days based more on the general idea of them bringing back faves. If they included Carrie they had to do that. And Austin was much better in his first few months there, and more interesting to me. It was only after JER mixed the couples up again that I got bored with them. I didn't get excited again really until Beth split them up, and Austin and Carrie were on their way out. Sad, sad, sad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree that the time factor had a lot too, but I still think EJ was a big victim of the writing turnovers. And I agree he did come into his own until the last few months. And even though I like evil EJ, I would love for him to still have some of that charm he had when he first got there too. He was so sexy then. He is now too but not in the same way.

If Zack's death was the best storyline on daytime television in 2006, the genre is in a sorry state. Yes, it gave us 2 weeks of great acting. But the actual story rapidly went south. It degenerated into little more than a tacky JER quad.
Best Story- Zach's Death, Days

Dont think so.this was just another JER gimmick, that while we did get some great acting this "story" turned into nothing else but chelsea and the Bo/Hope/Patrick/Billie story.Yawn.

Yep, and the beginning of Zach's Death was the best thing on Days this year. They so blew it.

ICAM, it started out so powerfully but Reilly was so busy setting up the quad for a full month and a half that we ended up with a funeral that turned into a Valentine's Day Brawl instead of being a poignant, heartwrenching funeral for a beloved little boy.

Yay for Lumi!!!

I kinda agree too. Also Hogan has yet to perform miracles at DAYS.

I totally agree that Passions was the most improved show of 2006. It sucked a*s in 2005, so the show didn't have anywhere to go but up in 2006. Days also improved, so there could have been a tie. General Hospital, love it or hate it, always has great buzz going for it. I just hope that Days and Passions get some much deserved Emmy recognition this year.
