The modelling industry is telling girls they have to be thin, this story is not doing that. Just like with Traci (or Marcie on OLTL), the end result will most likely be that Colleen (and other girls) should be happy the way they are. Just like on Ugly Betty, a series centered around a girl who thinks she's ugly, but realizes she's fine the way she is. I'd say this story will do a lot of good for girls unhappy about their bodies.

But I should make it clear that there is a difference between unrealistic expectations (as the modelling industry supports), but obesity is still as big a problem as anorexia and shouldn't be taken lightly either.

In your opinion, it isn't, but in mine, it is. So, why don't we just take a difference of opinion route on this, because I'm not changing my mind, and am not trying to change yours, ok?

I really don't get where Colleen's insecurities come from. She's the one with the loose mouth and there are no other !@#$%^&*]es among the young crowd who could tease her if there were sth. to tease about at least. If Adrienne Leon were skinny skinny I'd buy an anorexia storyline but for her to follow Traci's footsteps is so ludicrous... As already mentioned a Lauren-kind of character is missing in this storyline. Right now it's DUMB.

That's what is making the fact that Colleen is getting this storyline stupid. She doesn't have self-esteem issues, she's not bullied, she not having problems at home or with JT... there's no real basis, besides the fact that two stuckup hoochies said that she looks chunky... That makes the character look more dumb than anything.

Well when LF played Colleen there were some scenes when she struggled with her weight. During the whole ballet stuff. I don't get this you have to be fat to have a weight issue arguemet though?

I was rooting for Devon today when he told Carmen to get her own family.

LML does need to slow down with the storytelling. Way too many beats are being skipped and it's preventing some fans from investing in some of the stories. Too many characters are having character transplants or developing issues overnight.

Brittany Hodges would have been the perfect "Lauren" for Colleen's story. Too bad Jack-ass Smith had to write off one of the most interesting teens on the show at that time.

I agree with this. The only story that has been an outright failure for me is the Brad story, but what keeps her others from being classics is that she doesn't play them as long as she should. Like this thing with Ashley, she's obviously a "B" story to Dru/Neil, Victor, Gloria/Jack/Sharon/Nick so while I loved what I saw today, I know it won't amount to much. Just like Michael, Lauren, Katherine and Jill, they're obviously "B" stories, when they should be on the frontburner as well.

What gets on my nerves is Carmen's constant whine session to Neil..."I wish you would understand how dangerous Dru is. You don't know what she's capable like I do?" Homegirl, who are you trying to scam? You don't know anything about Dru...She better be lucky that Dru didn't decide to shred those clothes with Carmen in them. So tired of Carmen constantly telling Neil to be careful...she sounds utterly stupid

I mean Really. Stupid Tramp. I will at least give Neil a smigeon of credit that he said "Wait a minute, that is my wife." She thought Neil would just jump into her trash Dru session. She just wants to keep the drama popping but won't know what to do if Dru really does pop at her.

I think I may like the whole Colleen eating disorder storyline. But for it to work well with me they need to do a few things:

A. Bring back Traci to help her deal with for a nice little job.

B. If they don't bring Traci back, let her Aunt Ashley play into. I think the writers forget that Ashley is her Aunt first and not some evil bitch (which okay, she is) who was once her step-mother.

C. Also Lauren should for sure be in this storyline. No IF ANDS or BUTS about.

PREACH ON CRC!!! I was just thinking about Brittany a few days ago. Bobby Marsino was her downfall...such a terrible story. I would have loved to see a Brittany/JT/Colleen (With A. Leon) triangle.

Then went to meet Dru, leaned into her with his nasty little put down because she called him on some MORE sneaky [!@#$%^&*] having to do with Carmen, then RAN RIGHT BACK TO CARMEN to trash Dru some more. And had the gall to looked disappointed because Carmen decided at that moment that she didn't want to hear it. Running around town having secret meetings, dinners, kissing and hugging while acting like the two of them haven't been trying to line up the right moment to hop in the sack.

I don't think Beth Maitland wants to be on Y&R for the long haul. It seems like she just likes to do "guest appearances." That sucks though because Beth rocks, and should be the HOH of the Abbott family.

Looks like MTS will be offscreen for awhile, she's gone on vacation with her family. MS is off doing her thing in Vancouver(was it?), hope they both enjoyed there time.

I feel sorry for Michael/Lauren fans...first Mikey is acting like a bafoon...and Lauren is barely seen (heard she's on next week though).

I am looking forward to seeing the contrast between Phyllis and Lauren births. I want to see how Tracey and Michelle are going to rock those scenes. It's going to be weird seeing Phyllis with a baby though :blinks:

I think you're right in regards to Beth Maitland, bu she will for sure need to be apart of the Colleen storyline, since it will be dealing with her weight gain.

You're right. It just would have been more disgusting if he hadn't at least said something. Still, Neil is an assclown. He makes my skin itch when I see him on screen, the way he slinks up to Dru to put her down. Just a !@#$%^&*]ass male snake. And we all know good and well he wont ever apologize to Dru for his affair. And shame on Y&R for portraying that act of molestation as an affair. Shame.
