BTG: History, Behind the Scenes Articles & Photos
Interview with Jibre Hordges (Jacob) He mentions the vet actors have been helpful with the pace and technicalities of doing a soap and admits there was a struggle at first but the cast has found a groove. Also says the show does a great job mixing drama with strong representation of black affluence Yeah I think trying to look at the show from a non regular soap viewing lens is making people project more negativity than they should. @Alan I know a lot of the shows Kurt has worked on, he’s a legend tbh. My only wince would be on some of the dramatic stuff it felt like the soundtrack never stopped long enough to allow certain scenes to breathe (Saints & Sinners had this problem the worst). Hopefully we get more quiet moments on BTG with the score only added when its truly needed.

I’ma give the show credit for going so slow with Carly and Jack because it made me more invested lol, glad they finally kissed. Valentin trying to kill Jack and Carly busting in and knocking him over the head was fun. I laughed at Carly waking Brennan up by saying she’d tell everybody he died in a bath robe too 😂 I love this pairing Emma talking to Dante about Sam was very sweet. Her and Gio were boring but I like her and the animal activist angle they’re taking. Jason and Sasha are a firm NO for me. Its a tired recycle of his better storylines with Carly and Sam. Sasha and Michael not being married doesn’t make Jason sniffing around his nephews roster any less gross than Drew either. I did giggle at Cody’s reaction to finding out she’s pregnant and seeing Jason feeling the baby kick. Once again Brook Lynn and Lois got some good scenes, RS and AS have great mother daughter chemistry and I’m glad she got to comfort Brook Lynn after the Chase shoots blanks reveal. I enjoy Tracy and Martin’s banter, this was a smart pairing choice for JE IMO and she’s made MEK work for me when he’s stuck out like a sore thumb every time I saw him on the show prior. I’ve really been loving Lulu taking accountability and reacting more reasonably these last couple of weeks. They could have easily had her bite Anna’s head off for shooting Charlotte but after a quick dig she blamed the real culprit aka Valentin. Her scenes with Dante were great as well I love how she makes him address the elephant in the room when it comes to Sam being her donor. Anna revealing to them both that Sam was murdered was good and I’m looking forward to tomorrow

I enjoyed all the Quatermaine scenes today minus the recycling of the same Tracy being mean to Sasha set up. Everyone debating how to handle Willow was hilarious and Jason being in the middle of Q banter still blows my mind in a good way. I’m not surprised he figured out Michael was Sasha’s baby daddy so quickly. Lois and Brook Lynn’s scenes were really good and the anvil dropping with Gio continues to make me laugh, same for Chase being a blank shooter. I still like nuEmma a lot and she has good chemistry with FH and KW. Felicia warning Carly about Jack was also nice to see after their bonding over Bobbie’s death. Speaking of Jackly I wish they would let them kiss already lol, I love their scenes though. Valentin popping up to strangle Jack at the end was a surprise I hope Jack ends up beating his creeper ass. Poor Alexis finally finding out Sam was murdered. Portia is awful at her job tbh and the way she swerved Alexis off to Isaiah for questioning was funny but pathetic. When this story wraps I hope she and Terry lose their jobs. Trina and Kai 😴

Watching Monday’s episode where we got a very lengthy set of scenes with Laura and Lulu talking about their family—specifically the heartache Laura has had to deal with for years with Lucky gone, Lulu comatose, Nikolas in jail, and Spencer presumed dead then coming here and reading these last couple of pages made me question if we’re all watching the same show for a second. 😂 The show could definitely utilize Genie Francis better but I don’t think her onscreen treatment is as egregious as its made out to be. I don’t agree that Tracy has gotten more screen time with Lulu than Laura has, it feels pretty evenly spilt to me—as it should considering how big of a role Tracy has played in Lulu’s life. I’m still enjoying the show overall but centering so much drama around Cody as an activator and Sonny using Natalia to hide his heart issues definitely quailed my interest after a great run of episodes focused on the Michael/Willow/Drew/Tracy custody games.

B&B: "Soaps" Documentary Featuring The Bold & The Beautiful
The Bell family legacy seems to be a core part of the doc and since this is the only show still truly ran by them it makes sense. I’m excited for this

GH: State of Mind with Maurice Benard Discussion Thread
This show explains why Maurice’s acting just doesn’t land anymore lol, why is he bragging about not liking to rehearse with his co stars? The prep work he says he’s doing at home is getting him continually wiped down by his scene partners. I hope Finn Carr sticks with Genie Francis for mentorship.

The extended trailer gave me everything I needed and more, my goodness. So many great moments and high octane drama that actually looks like a fun ride instead of misery central. The overall acting and production values are solid. Seeing all of these melanated faces soaping it up as leads with agency and not just tokens feels like such a blessing to be able to witness. Seeing a black Grandfather bonding with his Grandson specifically is such a rarity in tv and film so those scenes in the trailer really hit me man. Karla Mosley’s Dani really is the star here, I can’t wait to watch her be vengeful and wreak havoc. Bill taunting her and Vernon put him on my people to watch for list as well. The Dupree’s showing up to his wedding dressed in all black is freaking hilarious. 😂I’m excited to see the mistress trying to fit in with the elite of Fairmont Crest and be given hell.

Drew is clearly the sanctimonious jerk of the story but it hasn’t been “only next step is murder” energy to me. My biggest issue with the Q’s when I tuned back in was how boring and saccharine they all were, we finally have one living up to the family name. I’d rather they not just dump the character by senselessly killing him.

The Sunday Morning segment was amazing. The AMC fanboy always love seeing Erica Kane highlighted whenever its time to talk soaps Loved seeing the camera move so much during the clips from the actual show and the production value looks great. 27 sets 🤯 the diner being a centerpiece locale is such a great idea too. I can’t wait to see Karla Mosely raise hell on this show, that one moment where Dani says she’s done being disrespected is so perfectly played. Seeing so many black faces BTS is just chef’s kiss.

I could have done without hearing Chase give Tracy the same speech we saw Sonny, Jason, and Carly give her back to back but Drew showing up and having Tracy arrested was hilarious 😂 I also enjoyed Jordan and Cody dragging Drew at the restaurant and the AMC fan boy always likes seeing Tad and Ryan together I’m glad Willow agreed to let Carly and Sonny see Michael and help with his medical proxy. The last scenes with Carly waking Michael up to decide his treatment going forward were really emotional so far, looking forward to more on Tuesday I liked the Lulu/BrookLynn/Maxie scenes but ugh at Lulu working as an assistant at Deception. The job choices for the legacy Spencer’s have been piss poor so far I wanted to see her be a reporter and Lucky work as a PI or for the WSB Ava’s scenes with Lucas made me wonder if she was the one who set the fire at Sonny’s penthouse. I continue to be grossed out by Lucas and creepy Brad together Sidwell waltzing around Port Charles without a care in the world makes 0 sense, those art gallery scenes with Ava and Ric were saved by MW and RH’s wonderful chemistry

I agree with those saying Thursday’s episode was a tough watch aside from the Tracy vs Carly, Chase/Willow/Nina/Ava scenes. I have lost all interest in Trina and Kai and think Kai should probably be recast or swapped out for Quinn at this point. The actor is stale to watch and I know people love Tabyana Ali but she’s only matching his performance IMO which is unfortunate considering how long she’s been on the show. Cody gambling away his blackmail money and getting on Selina’s bad side is also a snooze. Sasha has proven her value with her recent family retcon for me but he still deserves a pink slip. I don’t care to watch another story of a couple having a hard time conceiving either, even with this hidden teen pregnancy plot to add angst for Brook Lynn and Chase. Totally agree, Michael getting barbecued has activated a good portion of the canvas and given the show some juicy historic drama to play with in a way I don’t think we’d be seeing if Michael were still actively involved. They’ve been getting their money’s worth out of this story so far I just hope they can keep it up Nina has been doing enough manipulation on her own but I wouldn’t buy her encouraging Sonny and Carly being barred from Michael, It makes way more sense to have Drew do it. I get that people don’t rate CM much as an actor but I think playing into his onscreen aura of smarminess has been a smart pivot and I do not want Drew killed off either, let him be the Quartermaine heel on canvas. Where they go forward with Willow will be a real test of the writers to maintain momentum. They’ve added a lot of layers to her these last few weeks and I would hate to see her revert back to being a boring generic goody two shoes once the reveal of Nina and Drew’s sexcapades happens.

Coronation Street: Discussion Thread
Good riddance! I’m a Platt family fan but him, Lauren and Bobby are the worst characters on the show. I feel like someone up stairs saw he could cry on cue and mistook that for him being a good actor, he’s awful and the character is insufferable.

Michael getting char broiled has put the show on an excellent run, these last few episodes have been 🔥 lol Laura Wright, Steve Burton, and Eden McCoy have given really excellent performances and Jane Elliott, Cynthia Watros, and to my surprise Katelyn McCullen are also holding it down well Now that they’re leaning more into playing up the psychological layers of Willow and Drew and having them be openly antagonistic I find them both 1000x more interesting. Drew’s confrontations with Carly and Nina have showcased what a narcissistic slime ball he really is and I’m loving it. He’s like a devil whispering in Willow’s ear helping her play chess against Michael’s families, who you can argue are themselves sick versions of manipulative cults. When he pointed out Carly was being emotionally manipulative I couldn’t really say he was wrong but she had him pegged pointing out his obvious control attempt. For all of Nina’s disgust she’s essentially doing the same thing too, its just Drew has Willow dickmatized so he’s more successful at it. 😂 What I really like is that Willow’s not coming across as a sad manipulated wallflower. She is returning serve in all verbal spats and playing a strong chess game vs anyone trying to keep her away from her kids and doing it in a way I wasn’t expecting the character or the actress to be able to deliver. Her fights with Carly, Joss, and Sasha have been entertaining as hell and well balanced. Laura Wright is killing it playing Carly’s devastation and mama bear anger. Her scenes with Drew and Sonny at the chapel, confronting Willow after the medical proxy reveal, and various moments being comforted by Lucas, Jason, Joss, and Diane outside of Michael’s room have been solid work. That “we we we” clip posted earlier wasn’t bad in full context and I wouldn’t say it was poorly acted or a set up against LW at all. She’s delivering great performances and selling the whole storyline for me. Steve Burton has been playing Jason’s guilt excellently too and I like that all of this mess has made Jason stand firm in he and Sonny needing an exit plan from the business. Tracy getting involved with the custody fight and making it all worse is great usage of her. The scenes of her and Stella discussing Monica being ill were eerily timed but provided great motivation for her to invest in not wanting Willow to run off with the children. I really enjoy JE and MEK together btw and it was nice seeing him and Alexa Havins reunited. Speaking of Havins I like that they’re allowing Lulu to be told by pretty much everyone she’s acting too rash trying to run after Charlotte and Valentin. Its in character for her to be doing this but its also good that they’re not just making her out to be right as a form of cheap propping. I love the slight animosity still being played with Joss and Lucky 😂 watching them and the GH staff slowly figure out Cyrus’s involvement in the hospital deaths has been fun though, I just wish the show had left some more mystery

GH: January 2025 Discussion Thread
I was only able to catch the last 20 or so minutes of Thursday and Friday’s shows so I’ll share more thoughts after a Hulu binge but I loved what I saw so far with Jason flashing back to baby Michael, Joss and Carly going in on Willow and Drew and vice versa plus Willow taking advantage of having Michael’s medical proxy. Indon’t think Michael will end up dead from the digitalis dosage but the show does have me at the edge my seat for Monday. I did randomly put on the 2022 episode Hulu uploaded just to play something in the background and I can see why people enjoyed the Cassadine stuff with Esme, Spencer, Nic and Ava. Nicholas Chavez and Maura West specifically had me paying attention to their scenes. The rest of the show was boring as hell and made me remember why I didn’t tune in for ages. Leo and Chase singing a song was the focal point for some reason and IDK what the hell was going on with Sasha but it stunk. I will say the lighting on the show looked better then than it does now and it seemed like they did less static camera work too. Glad to read your apartment is in good standing @Vee ??? You may have intended for this response to have been “all in fun” but it comes across mad patronizing at best to me. @NiqueAlexis2020 using a few nick names didn’t make their post that hard to decipher.
