Thanks for the correction.I was going by French Fan's summaries which listed O'Shea. I've often thought of starting a timeline for SFT -a year by year summary of plots, comings and goings, headwiter changes etc but it seems to daunting atask to commit to.

Tony, who already had a heart condition had a patient named Robin who was a prostitute and involved with shady characters Tony saw Joey drag Robin down the stairs and tried to rescue her. He wrestled with Joey and when Joey pulled a knife, threatening to kill him if he and Robin couldn’t leave, Tony clutched his heart and fell down the stairs, where he laid dying while Jo was wondering where he was. i believe the money received from Channel 5 has been making it viable to continue in Australia, so if that tap is turned off it won't make financial sense to keep it on there.

ALL: Proposed Soaps Over The Years
November 1995 13 Bourbon St article Fox soaps up after taking bath with Chase Serialized drama to compete with late -night talk shows, appeal heavily to men More than two years after the disastrous, short lived Chevy Chase talk show experiment, Fox is venturing back into late night with a serialized drama to air at 11 p.m. The untitled project will debut in January 1997. Rather than return to the talk show genre, Fox hopes the soap will serve as strong counterprograming to Leno, Letterman and ABC's Nightline. "We have had such great success with our prime time dramas Melrose Place and Beverly Hills, 90210 that it makes sense for us to expand what has been a very successful franchise for Fox," says John Matoian, president, Fox Entertainment. "A late night serial drama is ideal counterprograming and will expand Fox's strength into a new arena." The hour long show, which will air Monday through Friday, will be set in New Orleans at an aristocratic mansion turned -hotel in the French Quarter. According to Executive Producer Linda Gottlieb, filming will take place primarily in New York, with some shooting in New Orleans. Although there is speculation that Fox will push the boundaries in language and sexual content with the project, Gottlieb says Fox's mandate for the show contains no excesses. "I've never been out to do shocking stuff. I want to do a sensual story because that's the kind of city that New Orleans is," she says. Gottlieb, who executive -produced the theatrical "Dirty Dancing" and was in charge of the daytime soap One Life to Live, says the show will be "completely different" from daytime serials. "This will have a completely different look and feel and will also include a heavy music component because that's a big part of New Orleans," she says. The show is expected to differ from its daytime cousins in that Fox expects it to appeal heavily to men. "Fox's mandate is to do a show that draws men primarily, along with women," says Gottlieb. Also, she says, the serial will feature a murder mystery at the outset. The network has made a significant commitment to the project with an initial order of 65 episodes, which will take the project through 13 weeks

Thurs Oct 26 1995 Y&R primetime episode 9pm #56 9.1/14. This episode was up against the world Series on ABC #1 and a special line up of comedies on NBC (Frasier/John Laroquette)#15 and #22 Does anyone know what happened on that episode and why CBS aired a primetime special? It must have been in the planning for sometime as it had to fit in with the daytime schedule. As I recall, the nightime eps had a more primetime filming and pacing feel? Am I correct?

I believe Kristoff was recurring also but still listed in the credit cast. Obviously Kate Linder is in the same boat.

I though Ashland had his moments but the writing undermined the character. He became Victoria's yes man after awhile. Let's see how RN handles things.

Within weeks familiar characters die/leave town and a slew of new arrivals hit Salem. ratings slide further and by the end of the year new writers attempt to undu the damage. 1993 James Reilly buries Carly alive and the ratings jump back into the Top 5 in a week. The template is set for years to come.

Excellent ideas. A new family that can shake things up. Larissa Locke (the daughter) She could interact with Nick, Adam or Jack Carson Locke (the son) to try and forget Victoria he could pursue Phyllis, Sally or Chelsea Michael is recurring so they're not going to use him much. There was some talk of CLB playing in 'Cat on a Hot Tin Roof' somewhere so maybe that is back on.

Yes OLTL had only one primetime episode due to some sport preemption I think. Gh had one 'Twist of Fate' which aired on Sat night. AMC had an a 20th anniversary special, but no nightime episode. Loving got the 2hr movie prem and Capitol a I hr debut behind Dallas. GL got an anniversary special. Days and Y&R got several annual eps in the 80's. Prior to that Return to Peyton Place got a half hour ep on Sunday night at 10.30 dealing with the murder of Benny Tate.

And all this talk of Victoria and the problems with that character leads me to thinking about her brother. But let's not go there...at least not on this thread.

I guess Doug and Julie would have continued in the parental role. I think they were still on 3 days a week before they left so they would go down to once a week to worry about Hope . They were told that D&J would not have a story. Maybe they would throw in a few subplots like Julie getting a new job, or Doug having business problems etc. Had they decided to stay maybe things would have imporoved down the track and David, Dougie or Steve might have come back to give the Williams more to do.

All: character may be killed off
Ron sure seems happy to kill off /write off Horton family members. But not so interested in nurturing that same family. I might be missing a few, but off the top of my head, offscreen Hortons that could be used in some capacity Tommy (is he really dead?) Sandy (and any children she may have had) Marie Jessica Blake Mike Jeremy Steve Olsen Spencer Olsen Melissa Scott Banning Nathan Hope And any other children those offscreen characters may have.

Mike was SORASED because of the Bill/Laura story and I guess they needed an older actor to play the angle of the son with mixed up parentage. Couple that with the need for a next generation of family esp after Y&R put the focus heavily on the young 'uns. Viewers at that time knew Mike and David were roughly the same age so they wouldn't have bought David being years younger than Mike. Wes Eure and Richard Guthrie both were popular so TPTB probably were happy with the decision. But long term it backfired. My solution-age up Mike and David less drastically so maybe they would be 12 or so by the mid 70's. A competent actor could play the necessary beats in the Mike and David's stories. In terms of young male characters my solution ,as I've stated before, would be to have Richard Guthrie as Julie's brother Steve, with Julie taking on a motherly role. Steve could be involved with Brooke, Valerie etc. Wesley Eure could have been Maggie's brother that she raised, who is welcomed into the Horton clan. He can have the romance with Trish and Margo. That leaves Mike and David ready to take over in the early/mid 80's as new male Horton leads.
