  1. I'm sure Melody is happy about being away from the Newman clan. She does look better . The dark colored suit and hairstyle is much more flattering than some of the hideous outfits she's worn recently.
  2. So this Audra character is contract? Who is available for her?
  3. I recall NBC trumpeting that Passions was strong in the 13-17 demo and tried to claim that this cohort would keep watching as they grew into the desirable 18 + demo. Conveniently ignoring that what you watched as a teen doesn't necessarily translate into what you would want to watch as you grew older. If Passions had have gone for a more serious gothic tone, it might have done better.
  4. Thanks for clearing that up. Variety reported it in a way that indicated he was the one performing the ceremony. That article lead me to a fascinating NY Times report about his involvement in the preservation of historic buildings in Cape May.
  5. One of the many issues that need to be addressed. Actually it has been stated they're billionaires!
  6. Casey Allen Rosemary Bill Roberts Kitty Foyle (radio) Road of Life 1948 Family Ties Married to Fran Carlon Fran Carlon Woman of America 1945 This Changing world Martha Bishop 1944
  7. Feb 77 ABC piloted a Starsky and Hutch spinoff 'Huggy Bear and the Turkey' Huggy Bear and a strait laced white guy open a detective agency. It was aired as an episode of S&H but subsequent episodes ignored that plot and Huggy Bear resumed his former position in the show.
  8. The thing was those 4 sitcoms had been around for years and in the case of The Jeffersons in particular had been shunted around the schedule in many timeslots and was at one point #49 for the season. Then CBS put them all together and it was ratings gold. The problem after a few seasons was that there was no room for fresh shows and they began to age. The Sunday sitcom lineup was dying and Murder She wrote took the first hour and by next season Crazy Like a Fox the second hour and CBS Sunday sitcoms were history.
  9. 45 seconds of them snuggling on the Newman sofa with extra vignettes of each of them wrestling with a blanket... CBS is spending big this fall!
  10. SFT Jo and tony's wedding Oct 22 1972 Variety reported that Bruce Minnix, SFT director would perform the ceremony. But you have Norman Rose listed. So a bit of a mystery as to who actually played the minister...
  11. Friday September 22 1972. Jo marries Tony Vincente, her 3rd marriage and 2nd onscreen wedding. Bruce Minnix performed the ceremony. An SFT director, he was also a real life mayor of Cape May NJ, so could do the same in real life.
  12. In Oct 72 the show began taping 2 episodes a day for several weeks so they could take a 3 week break from Friday 20th Oct. The reason for this is that the studio needed to be altered for use on Election Night.
  13. All of CBS Sunday shows in the Top 10. ABC Tuesday 3 in the Top 10 and the other 3 Top 20. NBC Monday Little House/Movie Top 20.
  14. Well unless that mandate was recent, Griffith decided to recast and age up Faith and introduce Moses. Faith could have easily have been kept roughly the same age and just appeared from time to time, instead of serving up something to viewers that they weren't going to follow through. With lack of sets painfully obvious, it seems pointless to introduce any new characters that might require specific sets eg a teen hangout. I think that with some clever writing and creative production, the lack of suitable sets could be worked around, but Griffith seems to be happy to serve up endless business meetings at Society and characters fetching a coffee at Crimson Lights.
  15. Y&R Phyllis Summers Billy Abbott Chelsea Lawson
  16. The GCAC gym has nor been seen for many years but yes a room and the rooftop bar have been shown recently. Is Noah opening his club at the Grubby Phalanx? Seems a club is a bit limiting in that it's an evening venue and would attract a certain clientele so not that useful as a meeting place for characters. Underground had the same issues- Victor wasn't going to bump into Jack there. Faith could have been written off once Alyvia departed. Trauma of all she went through, wanted a fresh start at a boarding school. Instead they aged her with Reylynn and gave her scraps before dropping her.
  17. NBC aired a primetime Return to Peyton Place Sun night Jan 20 1973. That helped the daytime ratings. In the week prior to the primetime special RTPP had a 7.2 rating for the week. After the primetime ep the show had an 8.0 rating the following week.
  18. I agree that Victoria, Phyllis , Billy etc could all do with a rest and I have no idea why Chelsea was brought back. Mal tried with Fen, Ana the Rosales to bring in fresh blood but Josh wouldn't have it. They had a chance to reset Adam but within weeks it was back to the same old. I think CBS/Sony just want to hang on to the viewers they've got and believe that serving up familiar content is the way to do it. Look at CBS primetime and the old school dramas that make up the bulk of the schedule NCIS, CSI, FBI,Blue Bloods, SWAT all safe and predictable.
  19. That is true of most of the cast now. Case, Scott, Braeden, Heinle, Stafford etc are there until the axe falls. So from that point of view I sympathise with Griffith as he is forced to tell stories for characters who in many cases are played out, not only because of their tenure, but also because of poor storylines. Having said that I still blame Griffith for coming up with inane business stories and retelling the same plots for those characters. eg Adam against the Newmans, Nick turning against Victor etc
  20. Suddenly everyone switched their allegiance to Society and GCAC was never seen again. I guess the set took up too much space as now, to save money, most sets are up permanently. It was recently stated that Devon had sold it.
  21. Jess Adkins Where The Heart Is Love Is A Many Splendored Thing Dale Robinette The Guiding Light As The world Turns
  22. Tucker's origin story is already nonsensical. Katherine forgets she had a child. He happens to come to GC and happens to be Devon's father. They undid the horrendous Jill as Katherine's daughter only to rewrite for that garbage.
  23. Yes they wrote for love of Life in the mid 60's. There is a documentary about them 'The Bachelors of Broken Hill' The true life soap opera of Frank Provo and John Pickard. Actors, writers and gentlemen farmers, their greatest success would not be found on the boards of Broadway or the hills of Hollywood but in a closeted relationship 40 years. This is their love story.
  24. In May 73 Lee Phillip Bell hosted a special 'The Rape of Paulette' on WBBM Chicago. It was a 'tough and incisive' video essay on the subject. Lee Phillip did a lot of the research. This must have informed Bill Bell in presenting the storylines of the rapes of Chris and Peggy Brooks.
