  1. Character development is still the goal which is why there has been a lot of story line so far. Most of the characters have been defined and we know their motivation plus traits. If we are going to mention Passions it's important to remember that one of it's issues was long, drawn out story lines with movement at the rate of about every few weeks.
  2. Forgot to mention that "tall tree looking ass" was the line of the episode for me.
  3. Ted's plan or whatever it is was stupid. Conning Leslie is only going to make her be more vengeful (if that's possible). And of course she was going to run over to the house to taunt Nicole. Dumb, dumb Ted.
  4. Looking at the details it is clear that this is a better deal if it reaches more viewers across Canada as opposed to just one area. The CHCH deal might have been a quick arrangement to get the show on the air in Canada early on by whatever means were possible.
  5. Totally unnecessary but I asked AI to generate a magenta house in a gated community to see how tacky it would come out.
  6. Holidays can produce lulls and even a ratings decline on one day is too much for a new episode for a show building an audience.
  7. That wedding is clearly invalid, but Allison is too insane to care. It will be interesting to see how long Leslie can be kept from behind the gates. She's not going to take no for an answer even with Bill threatening her. And her idea for a magenta house was extremely tacky, but on brand for her.
  8. Three seconds and he'll be gone. It is so silly to hire actors based on name ID and not write characters that make sense or have a point. Who is he going to be, Hermes DuBois or something goofy like that?
  9. I maintain my theory that Keith was the first choice for Ted but either declined initially or was unavailable. Ted will probably show up at some point. Chelsea is his children's cousin and also Kat's best friend.
  10. Leslie rescuing Chelsea would give her a redeeming quality, but she would sure enough brag about it to annoy the Duprees.
  11. Leslie knew better than to do all of that, but that's totally on brand for her. And Anita hugging Bill was so phony since she said she never liked him even before he cheated. Even in the context of Chelsea being missing that was phony. Kat's meddling has gotten Martin in some more mess. Sure, Martin could have declined to do anything that Joey asked but he wasn't going to if it meant getting Chelsea back. One little beat I noticed is that Hayley looked up at Bill to see his reaction to Andre and Dani.
  12. Michele Val Jean made a comment to the effect of saying that the writer team had a plan and wasn't just making up as they go along. The show has been giving EON vibes with Kat's amateur sleuthing and it's heavy usage of recurring and guest characters.
  13. Hayley was completely self-centered and didn't even seem to really care about Chelsea. Bill and Dani weren't even acting like a couple, but as parents so her outrage was misplaced. Allison gives Jan Spears vibes, except the story isn't as cartoonish as Jan keeping Shawn in a cage.
  14. Absolutely not. We do not need his yelling, overacting self on this show. He was awful on Scandal at times.
  15. I find that any episode that has a standalone feel is an attempt to build an Emmy reel. There is more dramatic material they could submit for best series and when I think about it this felt more like bait for the directing team to land a nomination (along with the concert episodes).
  16. Allison being a stalker the whole time gives the story an extra layer. She was setting Chelsea up from the start. The dream sequences were an interesting choice and I suspect this episode was crafted to be a possible Emmy submission for drama series (but I'm not sure if reels are submitted for best series). Dani had a good reason to be upset, but she didn't need to hug Bill more than once. Get off Hayley's husband, Dani.
  17. On thing I meant to discuss but forgot to is if Bill is going to go homophobic on Chelsea. Realistically not every family member is going to be accepting and the show should reflect that.
  18. I think there is also a effort to make sure the show doesn't miss out on Emmy nominations next year. Lots of story happening makes go lots of choices for submissions. For acting, Tamara, Daphnee and Trisha have already been given good material for reels. But of course the Outstanding Drama Series award is going to be the top priority for a nomination. With only 5 soaps BTG does not want to be left behind.
  19. We'll probably get a relative unknown for Dante like we've gotten for other characters.
  20. The Haves and the Have Nots was a mess much of the time, but that was one of it's best moments.
  21. I feel like Ted is much more considerate of Eva's feelings than he is of Kat's. He clearly is overcompensating for a lot of lost years. Chelsea did not take Allison's crazy ramblings seriously. Leslie's need for revenge would have worked more effectively had Ted known her before Nicole, dumped her for Nicole and then circled back to have an affair. Leslie's indignation doesn't have enough legitimacy but off course delusional is a classic soap staple.
  22. I see Carlton being somewhat bad. With Leslie pushing her way behind the gates she may connect with Carlton to help him scheme to keep a wedge between Ted and Nicole.
  23. Dani's insults about Ashley remind me of how Erica used to insult Brooke, except Erica usually did it to Brooke's face and Brooke was a far better character than Ashley is.
  24. It was stupid for the Duprees to even consider trying to revoke the trust because that would make Leslie even more unhinged. Anita seemed the most accepting of the fact that she messed up badly and that it is coming back to haunt her. Nicole is going to go off on Vanessa for selling Leslie a house, but I think Vanessa will do it anyway because she needs new revenue to try and cover up the money laundering.
  25. Anita's proposal of using Barbara's voice from their demos for remastered recordings was a setup for another fight that Leslie will take on. "YOU WILL NOT MAKE ANOTHA DIME OFF MY MAMA!".
