  1. The vibe of the trailer seems to indicate that this might be for a Halloween episode.
  2. On this day 20 years ago thousands of people had their lives stolen. As a nation we have to continue to wrap our arms around the families who still grieve the losses of their loved ones.

  3. Can't think of anyone to add to the list, so I'll just say that it wasn't just that the soaps copied Alexis, they copied the money and power structures from the primetime soaps. Sure there were some characters with money on daytime soaps before the primetime trend hit, but most of the soaps were still middle class oriented.
  4. I meant Victor, because he can get fairly bitchy when it comes to Jack. But you have a point about how Sue Ellen treated Pam, I haven't seen Dallas in a long time and I had forgotten about that.
  5. Sue Ellen Ewing was a victim, it was JR who was the bitch. But that aside, some of my favorites are Lindsay Rappaport Dorian Lord Gabi Hernandez Stephanie Forrester Victor Newman
  6. They will have to increase the amount of uploads at some point because one episode a day is not enough for a soap opera with so many episodes. Fans like to relive their shows, but not in real time.
  7. Somebody hung a noose at the bus stop that I use nearly every day. The police was looking for information and asked me, but the day it was put up I had used another bus stop. Something told me to use the other bus stop that day and I'm glad I followed my intuition. Lord knows what could have happened had I came upon whoever put it up.

I am so sorry you had to experience this. Don’t you live in the D.C. area? I hadn’t heard about this and it deserves news coverage.

I'm in California just outside Los Angeles.

  8. Madison was in the house with Jeffrey and David when it exploded so he was a casualty too. I wasn't surprised he ended the show like this because he did the same thing with If Loving You Is Wrong except with fewer characters dying. Not even Tyler Perry would hire Crystal Hunt, lol. That would be a nightmare on set.
  9. A chocolate penis was sent to the home of my local county supervisor who is facing a recall election. The right-wing Trumpsters are so out of control.

  10. Wow, incredible. It takes a real talented performer to pull off a scene like that.
  11. At the BET Awards the camera panned to Cynthia Erivo giving Jennifer Hudson the evil eye at Jennifer talked about the movie Respect.

  12. There definitely wouldn't have been a response if fans had not pointed out the mistake because the Emmys would not have ever realized the mistake. They probably just searched for Mamie on Y&R and selected the first picture they could find.
  13. Oh, ok, got it. Black shows have definitely not been a part of the reboot wave. House of Payne only got a reboot because Tyler Perry can shoot at his own studio and reduce the costs to BET. There are fewer black sitcoms on the air now than there were in the past four decades so a degree of bias does still exist.
  14. Sanford is probably the first example of a successful black sitcom getting a reboot, but that didn't last long at all and failed to get the attention that Sanford and Son did. Then there was What's Happening Now!! and one could say that What's Happening!! was moderately successful. With that said both of those revivals where in the 80s so there really has been no successful black sitcom that has received a reboot in recent times.
  15. I covered Mighty Real by Sylvester for a virtual talent show for Pride and I won first prize. It was such a surprise seeing that in my email this morning. I am still floored.

  16. The 9/11 commission was basically about making sure no surprises came up to harm Bush's re-election and allowed for a controlled narrative. A commission about the insurrection would be far different because there is much to be learned about just what elected officials knew about the attack and who financed it. But for the most part I think Democrats want to make sure that the electorate doesn't forget about January 6th and be able to use it as in issue in the midterm.
  17. It is Mother's Day, so I thought this would be a good topic. One of the best for me is when Dru confronts her mother on Y&R, but I cannot find a clip of that. In primetime, Abby and Olivia's scenes when Olivia was a drugs were top notch.
  18. The Verzuz between Xscape and SWV was good. SWV was low energy in the first half but they came in strong in the second half.

I didn't watch because I don't know where to find it and neither group is a fave (SWV has some crazy vocals tho and one of the Scotts from Escape is really good) but it was so nice to see Twitter so lit and having fun with it.  It's been a while.

  19. Seems like most soaps have LGBTQ stories just for the sake of being historic or just to be grab attention as opposed to really thinking the stories out.
  20. A character masturbating and flicking the sperm on somebody is not a scene that I ever thought I'd see on a TV show, but Tyler Perry went there. How he comes up with these ideas I'll never understand.

I've never seen Silence of the Lambs, but I'd expect that in a movie like that. I do know that he quoted the "Hello, Clarice" line in one of his plays.

Wait, so this happened on a Tyler Perry show?

Yes, it happened on this week's episode of The Oval. It was just nasty.

  21. With changes in writers and producers, OLTL probably just forgot about manufacturing and it would have been easy for the writers to do so considering that manufacturing was becoming forgettable in the real world. But overall most of the companies on soap operas were written to emulate the business intrigue of Dallas and the other primetime soaps. With most daytime soaps not being set in big cities it didn't make sense to introduce corporate elements so over time the small town locales have morphed into metro areas to give a reason for powerful characters to be there.
  22. Cynthia Erivo looks ridiculous playing Aretha Franklin. That was incredibly poor casting and it shows even in the promo.

I'll wait for Jennifer Hudson's version.

  23. My mother attended university with a white woman who told her that she had "a white education" because my mother was quite good in the class they were in together. Even a lot of black people take this view. If anything racism is worse for black people who live in white, middle to upper income areas than it is for those in low income, heavily black areas.
  24. None of was at all surprising, but it is good that they put it out there. This sort of thing happens on a daily basis outside of a monarchy and it does not get discussed. Plenty of white families will have a conniption if any relative marries a person of color. I know a woman who has biracial sons and she said that her conservative Mormon mother initially told her to have an abortion instead of having a baby by a black man.
  25. This video has English subtitles. The dialogue in crazy, lol
