  1. Good numbers in outperforming that show that was in the time slot previously. If it wasn't opposite GH it might have done even better.
  2. The dialogue is so clunky and doesn't flow naturally. It's like it is written without thought of how it actually sounds when delivered by the actors.
  3. It is what it is and I'll try not to evaluate him too harshly without seeing a few episodes, but I'm not sure I'll like this.
  4. I'm convinced that June is Hayley's sister based on how they have a similar way of speaking and that might mean the casting was intentional. Not Leslie walking right up in Nicole's house. Nicole shouldn't have left the door open period, but when you have a person who hates you running around you really should be more careful.
  5. I think Vernon has more dignity and morals than Eric Forrester lol.
  6. That would be a good plot point to add more tension to the situation.
  7. It is clear the secret involves some sort of roadside incident so it could have been a police stop. And tge Duprees support a police foundation could one of the clues that Martin's secret involves the police.
  8. Lol I thought the same thing.
  9. I'm hoping that it doesn't happen. If the show keeps putting out good performance and story it will be hard to shut it out. Daphnee, Trisha, Ambyr and Colby are earning nominations without question.
  10. There are the makings of good Emmy reels in these past couple of episodes, but the industry is still going to favor even the most mediocre stories and performances on the older soaps. And with the pressure from the government over race I can see the academy shutting out Beyond The Gates to avoid criticism from the administration and the far right media.
  11. Daphnee's performance very much reminded me of Anna Holbrook's on Another World when Sharlene was dealing with John and Felicia's affair. Angry but well controlled and believable. A good start for an Emmy reel. If there is one thing an evil Black mother is going to do, it is lock you out the house. Eva shouldn't have even bothered to go home. Leslie calling Martin "Mr. President" was interesting. How much exactly does she know about the family and has someone higher up sent her to cause trouble? Anita's speech to Leslie was dignified like Geraldine Whitney (EON) or Kim Hughes (ATWT) would have gone off on somebody.
  12. One thing I thought about is if Hayley will have a reaction to Bill threatening to kidnap and sell a baby. That's another level of viciousness and with her just having thought she was pregnant it might make her feel some type of way.
  13. Leslie having the nerve to show up at the Dupree House was pure insanity. Bill being revealed to be more ruthless than anyone would have thought was a good development. I have to imagine that will change Dani's view of wanting him back. The whole reveal was well done and Trisha Mann-Grant owned those scenes. That was most definitely material for an Emmy submission reel.
  14. I think Vanessa not being there was a matter of choices in who to have there without overloading the interactions. Nicole is going to have to interact with her kids, parents, sister and of course have it out with Ted. Any interaction with Vanessa will have to be after the whole mess goes down.
  15. Leslie couldn't get her Clair Huxtable evening dress for prom, but she finally got it now.
  16. One of the finer details of the episode I noticed is Leslie and Eva's dresses are representative of what a lower income person who had a windfall would buy for an event and consider to be glamorous. I worked in Nordstrom and there was a lot of this sort of aesthetic on the racks in the evening wear section. Definitely not cheap, but not couture either.
  17. The payoff so far is very good.
  18. https://www.instagram.com/p/DJE-VV9u6oe/?igsh=MTc4MmM1YmI2Ng==
  19. It could have been creepier, but I think part of the schtick of the character is that she isn't all crazy, but is also nasty and condescending. She was making fun of them more than anything else. Where she was kind of a little scary was when she got in Eva's face last week. But I do understand your point about the storytelling. Not all of the stories are developed equally and some balance still has yet to be achieved.
  20. Every show has issues the first year, not just soaps. There are some really good sitcoms and dramas that have some awkward material at the start. Not everything is perfect, but so far the show has been more character driven which is what most of the current soaps are criticized for not being. We know most of the characters traits. Ashley and Derek could be fixed like this: Have Ashley get caught up in Leslie's antics tampering with Laura's recovery at the hospital and have her struggle to not lose her dream of being a nurse. Derek can become friends with Hayley and because Hayley is a homewrecker have some tension arise between Ashley and Derek about the friendship even though it is just a friendship. We do lack good platonic male/female relationships on soaps.
  21. Chelsea is headed for trouble trying to see this woman outside of the arrangement. Her husband is not going to take this well. The diner scene with Leslie faking being a fan of the Dupree Family was crazy funny. Leslie is definitely getting more insane.
  22. So my mom turned on CBS for Beyond The Gates before B&B was gone and I had to give her a cliff notes version of B&B. It was so campy that she was asking questions, lol.
  23. Bill is once again totally delusional. Why would Martin still treat him like family after how he humiliated his aunt? That was the best preview for a coming week the show has had so far. It looks like things are going to blow up big next week.
  24. I want to see Doug beat Joey down B&B style. Joey needs to be put in his place. And I forgot to comment on Bill's hand shaking when he was carrying Hayley. If he has a heart attack while in bed with her it will be mildly amusing.
