LOL I’d never made that connection. I see others have too. She was never more than a cult artist here in the U.S., but RUTH did make the Top 30 in its original release. And of course she contributed to popular songs like Peter Gabriel’s “Don’t Give Up”: I first learned of her in a Entertainment Weekly review in the ‘90s where the critic compared Jewel’s “Foolish Games” to Kate lol. I was a tyke in ‘80s so I didn’t have a deep knowledge of anyone beyond what I saw on MTV, BET, and VH1 or on the radio. I always wanted to twirl through a forest like this:

Seems like there are a few fans here (I am one of them), and since Stranger Things has introduced her brilliance to new generations, I figured she might be worthy of her own dedicated thread. I’ve been so happy to see her pop up on her website thanking fans for the recent chart success of “Running Up That Hill,” but BBC Radio 4 just released a rare treat—a new interview with her. Lovely to hear her voice in 2022:

One of the main reasons why I pushed back on the idea of killing Abby, as messy as that character has become. All of the Abbott siblings except Ashley (Billy, Jack, Traci) have lost kids, which has decimated a generation. (Not counting the unborn children Ashley has lost.)

Um, uh… she likes to… jog? She’s good at chemistry? Lol.

Finola and JPS have decent chemistry, but I can’t with Valentin. Trina’s scenes with her family were nice, but I still think she’s getting the shaft by these writers.

Kate’s at No. 5 on this week’s Billboard Hot 100 while Harry’s still at No. 1:

Sara Endsley is one of their better writers, and she worked on that episode.

Renée Elise Goldsberry remembers the Evangeline/John/Natalie love triangle on OLTL in an interview with Vulture. On working with Michael Easton and Melissa Archer, she says:

I don’t get how they’re writing Victoria right now. Part of me thinks they are leaving the door open for Victoria to be scamming Ashland as revenge.

Thank you for sharing that. I wish I enjoyed it more, but it wasn’t as dire as I was expecting. A lot of times we hold films that represent “us” (whatever that may be) to a higher standard. It was never gonna be some revelatory work like, say, Wong Kar Wai’s Happy Together, which was such a milestone for Asian gay men on film (and one of my favorite movies). But I wish Fire Island were about 50-60 percent funnier. (Plus the treatment of the black characters worked my nerves.) I liked Conrad a lot, and his performance here hints at potential (and sex appeal) I hadn’t really seen from him before. An actor like him may not have had many opportunities to show his stuff in years past. He’d almost certainly been relegated to roles as a glorified extra or two lines as a computer hacker in some CBS procedural.

LOL the uploader lowered the pitch of the video, so all the women sound like drag queens. I do like the Y&R theme like that, though.
