Who watched the new movie on Hulu? It stars Joel Kim Booster, Bowen Yang, Conrad Ricamora, Matt Rogers, James Scully, Nick Adams, and Margaret Cho. It’s cute as a typical rom-com fantasy loosely based on Pride and Prejudice, which means you have turn your brain off to really enjoy it, but for all of its claims of diversity, it falls into a lot of the same traps of marginalizing its black and brown characters (and inadvertently centering the white gays the film tries to critique by making the clueless white doctor the prize): Conrad Ricamora is delicious, though, and there are some insightful moments:

With Bill it was the death of Vinny and Justin having him and Liam locked up for murder. With Wyatt, it was Sally faking her illness and holding Flo hostage (and given how long CH has been on Y&R—that tells you how long ago that was). I can’t even say re: Katie/HT. Other than the flirtation with Carter, maybe the time Quinn filmed Brooke/Bill kissing for the billionth time? That didn’t even really seem like a story. Maybe when Wyatt/Katie were banging? How many years ago was that?

One of the greatest voices ever. Died a little over 25 years ago:

B&B sucks. When they are done with a story, it almost stops cold. Things don’t really flow. It’s like they are still attempting an odd telenovela style.

Someone who also has a great body: Jennifer Gareis. 51 looks spectacular on her.

I think you’re right. This show sucks, though. Eric didn’t even visit his granddaughter (who was fighting for her life and just lost her husband, at least she thought) in the hospital (to my knowledge).

Did they even feature her in the Brooke alcoholism story?

I’m loving ATL this season, but it doesn’t really have a story that transcends the show and bleeds into pop culture this season. NJ has the Teresa stuff with her fiancé and rivalry with Margaret; BH has Erika’s story, plus Dorit getting robbed and even the Lisa/Sutton stuff (and I don’t even watch either of those series). Potomac has been amazing at generating out-of-season hype in the past few years. If Porsha had stuck around and had to answer for her new relationship with the other ladies (instead of on her ill-advised spin-off), ratings would be much higher. That was a huge story, of course. But ATL really needed this season as a reset, to hone its production, which has really stepped it up this season. I hope the show doesn’t look at the soft ratings and think the changes didn’t work. The production is not why ratings are down.

As expected, Julia Garner has been offered the role of Madonna in the pop icon’s self-directed biopic, according to Variety. Andy Cohen asked Garner about the opportunity months ago—she said nothing but her body language said it all:

Scott Clifton’s body… holy moly. The work is paying off with dividends.

They need to be careful. There are too many franchises as there is and they aren’t all thriving.

God I hated Gwen (mostly because of this scene), but Eve Myles is a great actress. Loved Toshiko.

A broadcast network announcing a brand-new soap in their daytime lineup would legit shock me. Jason Brooks returning as Peter Blake with Missy Reeves still playing Jennifer on DAYS… shocker.

It’s definitely preferable to Phyllis as the female Victor, but yeah she’s propeller arms these days.

Oh ok. I found it weird that they had split, then they started working together on Y&R in a heavy domestic violence story. Just checked Graz’s Instagram. He’s on Amazon’s David E. Kelley series The Lincoln Lawyer in a recurring role.

He’s a hot guy, but that first pic makes him look doughy and schlumpy. He looks better in the latter two.
